Obituary: Donna M. Slade, 80, died unexpectantly, , 8, 2016, at her home. services will be held at 10:30 am , 12, 2016, at Gay & Ciha and Cremation Service in Iowa City with burial to follow at Memory Gardens . Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Donnas memory for Special Olympics or the Coralville Library. Online condolences can be sent for her family through the funeral home website @ www.gayandciha.com. Donna Mae Bryant was born 8, 1936, with her family moving to the Coralville area when she was a child. She married Kenneth D. Slade on 16, 1952 in Iowa City. The couple built their home in Coralville on 13th. Avenue shortly after their marriage. Donna was so proud to be a resident of Coralville, she loved her many friends there and all of her family. In years past she enjoyed being on bowling leagues at Coral Lanes, she was an avid reader and loved to do knitting and crocheting. If you knew Donna, the good old days always came into the conversation! For years Donna was a beautician from her shop in her home, and for over 16 years she worked at the Veterans Administration Hospital in the medical billing department when she retired. Her family includes her son, Phil (Marty Winegarden); daughter-in-law, Rita Slade; two grandchildren, Sarah Slade (Morgan Ripperton) and Brian Slade; and great-grandson, Kolby. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Kenny; and sons, Kenny Don and Steve Slade. |

Obituary: Francis Sonny Slack, 88, went to be with the Lord on 26, 2016 surrounded by his family at home in Des Moines. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. , 29, 2016 at McLarens Chapel. services will be held 11 a.m. , 30, 2016 at McLarens Chapel. Burial will take place at Resthaven in West Des Moines. Francis was born 17, 1928 to Francis and Margaret (Lang) Slack in Hocking, Iowa. He worked at Firestone for 33 12 years and provided for his family. He was a member of the R.L.D.S. Church and loved to tell people about Jesus. His loving kindness and great big smile towards everyone will always be remembered by everyone who knew him. He will be greatly missed by all. Francis is survived by his wife, Marilyn; sons, Tim Slack (Bonnie) of Exira, Ray Slack (Cathy) of Des Moines, and Rodney Slack (Lori) of Urbandale; daughters, Connie Martin (Harvey) of Quapaw, Oklahoma and Rose Slack (Paul Cross) of Des Moines; 15 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Bobby, five brothers and one sister. |
