Obituary: Cecilia Doloris Sims, age 92, of Albia passed away , 15, 2015, at the Monroe Hospital in Albia. Cecilia Doloris Sims was born 28, 1922 in Baltimore, Maryland to William and Helena (Pipkins) Kohlenberg. She grew up and attended Catholic School in Baltimore. On 27, 1945 she married G. Mark Sims in Baltimore. shared 54 years of marriage before his passing on 8, 1999. Cecilia and G. Mark moved back to Albia after he served his country in the military. She was a homemaker and also helped with work on the farm. Cecilia was a member of the Bethels ladies aide and also taught school at the Bethel Church in Eddyville. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Albia and later a member of the First Christian Church. Cecilia was very fond of her hometown of Baltimore and enjoyed traveling back to visit family. She enjoyed watching the Baltimore Ravens, playing cards, and had a love for her dogs Shorty and Smiley. Her real joy in life was spending time with her family and friends especially during the holidays. Cecilia is survived by her three sons, Mark (Vicki) Sims Jr of Ottumwa, Arthur Sims of Albia, and John Sims of Eddyville; two grandchildren, Matthew (Sara) Sims of Eddyville, and Christopher Sims of Ottumwa; two great grandchildren, Dante and Delilah; a niece, Helen (Joe) Cromer; and numerous other great nieces and nephews of Baltimore. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Helena; her husband G. Mark Sims Sr; two brothers, Norman and Patrick Kohlenberg; and two sisters, Gertrude Kohlenberg and Mildred Stevenson. services will be held at 10:30 a.m., , 19, 2015 at the Tharp in Albia, with Pastor Lynda Carlson officiating. Burial will follow services in Greenlawn in Bussey. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. , 18, 2015 at the Tharp in Albia, with Cecilias family present from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church or to the Monroe Hospital. |
