Obituary: On , 11th, Marilyn Ruth Shearer had the most perfect, peaceful passing while she was surrounded by her loved ones. As Pastor Tom and Pastor Troy were praying over her and her family was sharing their favorite memories, she was welcomed into the arms of Jesus. A visitation will be held , 14 from 5:00-7:00pm with family present at Memorial Services of Iowa Chapel (4208 N Ankeny Blvd, Ankeny, Iowa). A Celebration of Life service will take place , 15 at 10:30 at Cornerstone Church, 56829 US 30, Ames, Iowa. Marilyn was born on 21, 1939 to Marvin and Ruby (Weeks) Thompson in Slater, Iowa. Marilyn married Robert Shearer on 8, 1959. were blessed with three children, Curt, Cindy and Luann. Marilyn loved being a stay at home mom and then was a store manager for Hallmark in Ames. Marilyn loved her family and friends and touched the lives of many people. Marilyn was adored by her family. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Robert Shearer; son Curt Shearer (Donelle) of Boone, Cindy Shearer of Ames and Luann Jensen (Dickson) of Ames; her grandchildren Cory (Britt) Shearer of Minneapolis, Cody (Kristen) Shearer of Adel, Courtney (Steven) Lowry of Granger, Blake (Kim) Jensen of Ames, Alyssa (Kyle) Obermeier of Ames, Samantha (Casey) Robson of Ames, Mason Jensen and Kolby Jensen of Ames; and four great grandchildren Alivia and Brinley Jensen, Kaden Shearer, and Elliott Lowry. Marilyn is also survived by Ronald (Sharon) Thompson of Ankeny, Eileen (Darold) Primmer of Huxley, David (Jackie) Thompson of Madrid, Paul Thompson of Chicago, Faye Draper of Ames, Charles Thompson of Elkart and Brian (DeAnn) Thompson of Huxley. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents Marvin and Ruby (Weeks) Thompson, parents in law William and Esther (Magnani) Shearer and grandson Zachary William Jensen. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to Cornerstone Church adoption program in memory of Marilyn Shearer. |

Obituary: Harryet F. Shearer, 96, of River Sioux, IA passed away , 17, 2015 at Elmwood Centre in Onawa, IA. services will be 1:30 P.M. , 21, 2015 at Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, IA with Pastor Pam Schwertley and Pastor Wayne Bahr officiating. Burial will be in the Little Sioux at Little Sioux, IA. Visitation will be held 12:00 P.M. until service time , 21, 2015 at the chapel. are under the direction of Rush Family Service in Onawa, IA. Harryet F. was born 4, 1918 the daughter of Floyd and Sena (Mikkleson) Alton on a farm north and west of Little Sioux, IA. She was the youngest of three children. She was raised there and attended Murray Hill School then Little Sioux High School where she graduated in 1934 at the age of sixteen. She then worked in a store in Little Sioux and helped on the farm. Harryet was united in marriage to Jess Marvin Shearer on 26, 1937. Two sons were born to this union, Leon and Rick. lived on a farm in Monona where their first son, Leon, was born in 1943. In 1946, they quit farming and went into construction work and she was the bookkeeper, etc. for their business. In 1947, their second son, Ricky, was born. Her and Jess brought an acreage in River Sioux and she lived there until entering Elmwood Centre a few weeks ago. Jess passed away on 22, 2013. The family always attended the Methodist Church in Little Sioux and all were baptized in 1952. In later years, she held several appointments in the church. She loved to travel with the family and got to all fifty states, Mexico, Canada, Ireland, South America, Panama Canal etc. Her main hobbies were sewing and crafts which kept her very busy. She also enjoyed gardening. She also did all the bookwork for their construction company. Survivors include her two sons, Leon (Dianne) Shearer of Waukee, IA and Rick (Peggy) Shearer of Little Sioux, IA; five grandchildren, Shawn Shearer, Heidi Koch, Travis Shearer, Tasha Nolting, and Brad Forret; sixteen great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jess of 75 years; her parents; brother, Leo Alton; sister, Nina Hollins; and grandson, Jeff Forret. Memorials may be directed to Burgess in Onawa, Iowa. |
