Obituary: Stella M. Saylor, age 89, of Dubuque, Iowa, was called home peacefully at 10:13 p.m., on , 10, 2016, at Stonehill , surrounded by her loving family. To honor Stellas life, funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on , 14, 2016, at Holy Spirit Parish, Holy Trinity Church, 1701 Rhomberg Avenue, with Rev. Dwayne J. Thoman officiating. To celebrate Stellas life, family and friends may visit from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., on , 13, 2016, at Behr , 1491 Main Street, where there will be a parish scripture wake service held at 4:00 p.m. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary . Stella was born on 20, 1927, in Balltown, Iowa, daughter of Arthur and Mary (Wagner) Link. Stella was born and raised in northern Dubuque county and would earnestly embrace the honesty of farm life before eventually moving her family to Dubuque in 1967. She was united in marriage to Wilbur Wib Saylor on 14, 1947, at the Immaculate Conception Church in North Buena Vista. were blessed with 38 wonderful years together, and one son, before he was called home ahead of her on 14, 1985. Stella was proud to be a loving wife, adoring mother, gracious grandmother and continually caring housewife. She did also invest a few years of her time and talents outside of the home at the General Dry Battery Factory and the Dubuque Pack. Stella was a happily humble woman who truly enjoyed the 89 earthly years she would get to spend with her family, friends, and her loyal four legged companion, Saddie. She has left a definite mark on the hearts of all who knew and loved her and we will forever treasure the love and lessons she leaves behind. Thankfully, we can find true comfort in knowing that after over 30 years, Stella and Wib will finally be singing Christmas carols together again this year. Those left to cherish Stellas memory include her son, Thomas Saylor, Dubuque, IA; her grandsons, Scholl Saylor, Buffalo, NY, Chris (Lilias) Saylor, Potosi, WI, Mike Saylor, FL and Kevin (Sarah) Saylor, Hazel Green, WI; her great grandchildren, Cody (Heather) Saylor, Abby Saylor and Ben Saylor; her sister, Irma Bietzel, Dubuque, IA; and a sister-in-law, Esther Link, Dubuque, IA. Stella was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilbur Saylor; a great-granddaughter, Reneé Saylor; a brother, Marion Link; and a brother-in-law, John Bietzel. A Stella M. Saylor memorial fund has been established, which will be distributed among her favorite charities. Stellas family would like to thank Dr. Liaboe, his nurse, Trish, and the nurses and staff at Stonehill, and Hospice of Dubuque, for all of the wonderful care they have provided for Stella. |
