Obituary: Martha (Marty) Lou Stroud, (80 years old) of Tucson, Arizona, went to be with the Lord on , 27th,2011 at home with her loving family around her. Born to Harrison and Bertha on 29th,1930 in Detroit,Michigan. In 1935, Harrison and Bertha moved to Tucson,AZ. with their four daughters, Vera, Norma, Mary Jane and Marty. Marty, graduated from Tucson High School and attended the University of Arizona studing dance and theatre. There she met and married the love of her life, Dwight. shared a common love for drama under the direction of Mr Maroney at the U of A. Throughout their marriage of 50+ years they enjoyed being extras for many films and T.V. shows filmed at Old Tucson, Mescal Studios and other locations around Arizona. She was President of the Antique Club called "Questors" and also a member of the Rose Society. Marty won many 1st place awards with her prize winning Iriss, which she took so much pride in. She never excepted that the weather was so windy during the Iris blooming season and would always comment "I hate the wind." She loved children and enjoyed reading childrens books. She also wrote and illustrated children stories for her grandchildren. She loved statues, saints, missions, and church bells. She enjoyed gardening, antique collecting and research, genealogy, animals, all birds,but especially hummingbirds and quail, butterflies and anything Irish. She also loved getting together with her sisters and /or children for tea or coffee over breakfast or lunch. Her greatest achievements in life, were her family, her loving husband Dwight and their four children. She absolutely loved everyone of her grand children and great grand children and followed every single milestone and accomplishment with pride. Martha is survived by her four children, Kathy (Greg) , Dwight, Darren, Maura Leigh (Keith), along with nine grandchildren Karrie (Rusty), Sally (Sebastian), Thomas, Clayton, Felicia, Zach, Amanda Leigh, Tyler, and Sky and six great grandchildren, Myely, Ellie, Jaya, Sally J, Nicholas and one on the way. She is also survived by her dear sweet sister, Vera Blan from PA., and her brother-in-law, who she loved dearly Ray Harris from Tucson,and many,many more loving nephews,nieces and cousins. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. We were blessed with her grace, friendship, and her fabulous sense of humor. She was someone who could be trusted with any secret or thought and never judged. She was a great listener and gave great advise. She was/is a beautiful Angel! We wish to thank everyone at Carondelet Hospice who helped Martha, making her so comfortable at home and for being there both emotional and physically for her daughter Maura in times of need. For those of you who would like to make a contribution in Marthas name in lieu of flowers, our mother made many contributions to KUAT, St .Josephs Indian School in Dakota, and Cancer or Alzheimer research. These are just a few, please feel free to choose one of your own... A Memorial Service and the placement of George and Martha, along with a small reception will be held at East Lawn Palms Mortuary & located at 5801 E. Grant in Tucson, Az (520-886-5561) on , 14th, 2011@ 1pm. Pastor Mark Bickerton will be officiating. |
