Obituary: Walter S. Sonny Szostakowski, Jr., 72, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 8:49 a.m. , 22, 2015 at Hospice House in South Bend. He was born on 20, 1943 to the late Walter S., Sr. and Josephine (Szymanski) Szostakowski in Lowell, MA. He has lived most of his life in South Bend, coming from Lowell. Along with his parents; he was also preceded in death by his brother, Charles Szostakowski. Walter graduated in 1960 from Washington High School, South Bend, IN. He taught Heating and Cooling Classes at Ivy Tech for several years. Walter retired in 2010 from Zimmer, Inc. in Warsaw, IN, where he worked as a Tool and Die Maker for 35 years. On 9, 1969, he married Patricia J. (Enders) Van Dusen at St. Mary Polish National Catholic Church in South Bend, IN. Walter is survived by his loving wife, Patricia J. Szostakowski of South Bend, IN; two daughters, Carol King of South Bend, IN; Debra Van Dusen of Niles, MI; three sons, Jerry (Tina) Van Dusen of South Bend, IN; Gary (Sharon) Van Dusen of South Bend, IN; Harold, Jr. (Norma) Van Dusen of Edwardsburg, MI; 12 grandchildren, Robert Smith, Ron Smith, James Smith, Joshua King, Shawn Stevens, Patricia Stevens-Stoelting, Travis Paul, Dustin Van Dusen, Angel Van Dusen, Gary Van Dusen, Jr., Jason Van Dusen, and Timothy Van Dusen; 26 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Wanda Figueroa of South Bend, IN; Helen Halfen of Arlington Heights, IL; and Victoria (Howard) Mc Mahon of Capron, IL. Walter was a U.S. Navy Veteran, where he served during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a member of National Museum of the United States Air Force, which is located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH. He was also a member of St. Mary Polish National Catholic Church in South Bend, IN; and a 32nd degree Mason of the Ancient York Lodge A.F. & A.M. in Lowell, MA. Walter enjoyed fishing, and was a jack-of-all trades and a master of several. He loved antique cars and airplanes; and was an avid Notre Dame Fan. Obituary: Patricia Szostakowski, 83, of South Bend, passed away on 28, 2016 in her home. She was born on 18, 1932, in South Bend, to the late Herbert and Bernice (Kurek) Enders and was a lifelong area resident. On 9, 1969 she married Walter Szostakowski, Jr, who preceded her in death on 22, 2015. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Carol King in 2016. Patricia is survived by her daughter, Debra Van Dusen of Niles, MI; three sons, Jerry (Tina) Van Dusen and Gary (Sharon) Van Dusen, both of South Bend and Harold, Jr. (Norma) Van Dusen of Edwardsburg, MI; twelve grandchildren, Robert (Amanda) Smith, Gary Van Dusen, Jr, Shawn (Alison) Stevens, Jason Van Dusen, Timothy Van Dusen, Ronnie (Ticiana) Smith, James Smith, Patricia (Derek Stoelting) Stevens, Joshua ( ) King, Travis (Sara) Paul and Dustin Van Dusen and Angel Van Dusen; 27 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Deloires Scheibelhut of Mishawaka and Beverly Bratcher of Elkhart, IN; and one brother, William Enders of South Bend. Obituary: Laurel Emalyn Szorcsik, 19, left this earth on 11, 2017, surrounded by family. She was a beautiful young woman with a smile that would brighten a cloudy day and turn rain into sunshine. She had many loves but above all those her beloved horse Soxie and also her cat Riley, and her dog Major. She also loved Camp Carson, any barn with horses, and all animals large, small, scaly and furry. Laurel loved unconditionally and lived life to the fullest despite having a terminal illness. Laurel had a number of dear friends that not only loved her but provided her with great joy, much needed support and unwavering kindness. She graduated from Signature High School in Evansville, Class of 2016 and continued to pursue her dream of working with animals while attending Murray State University. Laurel was born 14th, 1997 and is preceded in death by her mother, Katie Szorcsik, and cousin, Alex Roberts. She is survived by her father, Dennis Szorcsik, and her sister, Rowan Szorcsik, brothers, Drew and Alex Heichelbech; grandparents, Don and Mary Tedford, and Butch and Jo Evans; aunts, Brenda Szorcsik Roberts, Linda Szorcsik Goss, Mindy Tedford Bennett, Kerry Hayes; uncles: Tom Roberts, Donnie, Robert and Rick Tedford and respective spouses; cousins, Chelsey, Katie, Jordan, Keisha and Clinton; and niece, Tucker. Additional family include the respective spouses, significant others and children of her aunts, uncles and cousins. She also has many nieces and nephews along with foster dogs, cats, and a pig that were her family. The family wishes to thank the many caring staff at Rileys Childrens Hospital, IU University Hospital and Simon Cancer in Indianapolis IN. St Marys Hospital and Oncology and Hematology Associates in Evansville IN. Murry Calloway Hospital and the Murray Cancer in Murray KY. A special thank you goes to Dr. Daniel Rushing, Charlotte Money RN, Dr. Mark Turrentine, Dr. Vivian Cook, Dr. Ahmadi and Dr. Lorretta Garretson and the awesome team at Rileys Childrens Hospital Cardiac Floor. Obituary: Sharon Jeanette Szekera, our dear mother, sister, grandmother and aunt, passed peacefully on 27th, surrounded in love and comfort with her friends and family. Sharon was one of Jehovahs Witnesses who served her God Jehovah faithfully to the end for 75 years. With joy and steadfast faith, she followed Jesus Christs footsteps, teaching people from door to door and in Bible studies about Gods Kingdom. We all look forward to seeing her in the resurrection to reunite with her and her husband Oleh Al Szekera, who proceeded her in death in 2006. We are so grateful Jehovah will keep her in his unfailing memory to live again in Gods righteous new earth. Sharon is survived by her four children, Tamara, Olehna, Daniylo and Oleh; her sisters Patricia and Barbara; her grandchildren Heather, Seth and Blake; her sons and daughters-in-law Mark, Chris, Lanai and Deni-Ann, and her many nieces, nephews and close friends. She also loved her grand-dogs who helped her to laugh every day. She was a genuine friend to all who knew her, and brought soothing strength and comfort to many.
