Obituary: Opal G. Sexton Born 12, 1917 in Newport, near London, OH died on , 17, 2015 in the Sanctuary at St. Pauls, South Bend, Indiana. In her early years, with the loss of her father in a fire before she had reached her 7th birthday, life was enormously difficult for her mother, brother and sister (all now deceased) . Her grandparents helped as they could and her mother took on what work she could find to support the little family. In her early teens, Opal contributed as well with work on local farms. She met her later to be husband, Frank Sexton, before her 18th birthday. were married on 1st, 1935. Frank became a famous Professional Wrestler, Worlds Champion throughout the 40s and early 50s. travelled extensively throughout the United States, Europe, Latin America, and Canada. When their two sons, James (Pierrette) of Fullerton, CA and William (Ann) of South Bend became of school age, they settled in Columbus, OH. There she was very active in her parish church and served as a volunteer in a score of agencies and charities, e. g., Mount Carmel Hospital, The Cancer Clinic, Hospice of Franklin Ohio. her husbands passing in of 1991, after 56 years of marriage, and her continued presence in the Volunteer Corps of Columbus for another decade, Opal moved to the Sanctuary of St. Pauls in South Bend in 2001. There, she was everyones friend and confidant, serving as a member of the Choir and the Bell Ensemble while playing in the Bridge Club thrice weekly. Once again, she devoted much of her time with volunteer work in the Store, the Library and the Chapel. Very many of the guests at the Sanctuary at St. Pauls regarded her as their est friend. She had a way of creating friendship and trust almost spontaneously. These are just a very few of the traits which deeply endeared her to her 11 grandchildren and their spouses, as well as, her 31 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren (and three on the way), all of whom genuinely adored her, lavishing her with love, affection, respect and great gratitude. Her sons and their wives loved her most deeply and virtually idolized her for her strength, her compassion and for her incredible caring for her family. Their pride in her is absolutely immeasurable. A Catholic Service will take place at 11:00 a.m., , 20, 2015 in the Sanctuary at St. Pauls. A visitation will be held for 1 hour prior to the service. Committal Services and Burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. in St. Patricks , London, Ohio. Memorial Contributions may be made to the for Hospice , Inc. or the for the less. Obituary: Lloyd R. Sexton, age 83, of Bloomington, died afternoon at the Morgan Hospital and Medical . Born 21, 1928 in Bloomington, he was the son of James G. and Catherine Sexton. He graduated from Odon High School and was a salesman for International Paper and later U.S. Ink. He loved to be outdoors fishing and golfing. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of W.W.II He is survived by his wife, Phyllis K. (Waldon) Sexton, of Bloomington; one son, Jim Sexton, of Coatesville; one daughter, Sue Schroerlucke, of Sidney, Ohio; one step-daughter, Donna Lee Vance, of Indianapolis; two step-sons, Jeffrey L. Cahen, of Lebanon, Indiana and Robert Mark Cahen, of West Virginia, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Michael William Sexton in 1990 and two brothers, Wendell Sexton and one in infancy. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M. at Day Chapel. Friends may visit the family immediately following the service at the funeral home. |
