Obituary: Mildred Bobbie Sykes, 83, of Edwardsville and formerly of Granite City passed away at 10:30 a.m. on , 7, 2015 at her home. She was born 17, 1932 in Patterson, Missouri, a daughter of the late Millard T. and Bertha (Allen) Dickerson. She married Bobby Pete Sykes on 8, 1950 in Granite City and he survives. She retired in 1991 from Granite City Steel after over 30 years of dedicated service in the Production Control Department. She and her husband enjoyed their years after retirement living at Lake of the Ozarks and loved camping and traveling. She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends. In addition to her beloved husband, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sue Ann and Kenneth McCrory of Springfield, Missouri; a son, Danny Sykes of Edwardsville; three grandsons, Robert Wells of Ballston Spa, New York, Andrew Sykes of Edwardsville and Nathan Sykes of Edwardsville; one granddaughter, Rochelle Smith of Springfield, Missouri; one great granddaughter, Eleanor Ellie Smith of Springfield, Missouri; one brother, Carl Dickerson of Oregon; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Joyce Sykes of Benld; two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Gloria Tellor of Granite City and Joyce and Roy Dix of Missouri; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Grace Dickerson; a sister and brother-in-law, Verna and George Wilkinson and a sister-in-law, Norma Dickerson. In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon on , 9, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on , 10, 2015 with Reverend Dr. Loftin Woodiel officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association and may be accepted at the funeral home. |
