Obituary: Miriam passed peacefully at home, in her sleep after a long decline. She was born to Dominic and Severina Toscano (a railroad man and a housewife) in San Jose, California and spent most of her younger life in the Bay Area. She married Edward Spencer (a building contractor) and had two children with him, son Gary and daughter Gayle, before he died at age of 39. Miriam raised her two children alone until she met and married Clarence (Cal) Simpson in 1948. It was a marriage that lasted happily for over 40 years until Cals death in 1994. The Simpsons lived in Santa Clara through the mid 70s before moving to Grass Valley, California. Their home on Alta Sierra Golf Course was central to several happy years of semi- retirement. In 1990, to be closer to their grandchildren, they moved to Eagle, Idaho. Cals death and a few years living alone; Miriam moved into an apartment built on to her daughter Gayle Wrights home in Eagle, where she lived for over ten years. Miriam was, even in her most difficult hours, a joy to be around. Always positive and always ready with self- deprecating humor. Handling death is difficult, but Miriam endured her declining days with grace, dignity and love for her family. On the eve of her death, she had her favorite meal….a rare steak, mashed potatoes, and two fingers of gin! She was a great mom, a wonderful grandmother, and an unforgettable person. Hers was a life well lived. We love you grandma and will miss you daily. Miriam is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Charlene Spencer; her daughter and son-in-law, Gayle and Frank Wright; grandchildren Matt Wright, Sara (Alex) Terrell; and great-grandson, Roman Terrell. The family would like to thank the staff of Heart ‘n for the wonderful care given to GG for the last nine months. Also special thank you to Candy of Heart and for her loving bed-side manner and support. Per her wishes, there will be no services. |

Obituary: Fred L. Simpson, 85, of Twin Falls passed away , 16, 2017 at Brookdale Assisted Living in Twin Falls, ID. He was born 6, 1932 in Mitchell, NE to Lyle C. and Dorothena Masterson Simpson. He graduated from Mitchell High School in 1950. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1952 and after an honorable discharge he attended school in Colorado where he met his wife to be Jeanne Jennett. were married in Englewood, CO on 30, 1956. To this union they were blessed with 3 children; Terri, Jeff and Renee. He graduated from Colorado State and moved to Arco, ID for his first teaching job. He was on his third generation of Arco students when he retired in 1998. During that time he was principal of Butte High School for seven years, and a Butte Middle School principal for six ears. He taught all math courses plus physics, physical science, P.E. and Driver's Ed. During his forty years he coached football, basketball and track. His track teams were the district champions for thirteen years out of his fifteen years of working with them. He also coached summer league baseball, community basketball, little league football and wrestling and swimming for 12 years to some 900 people of the Lost River. He served on the 6th District Board of Control for extracurricular activities for 6 years. He was chairman of the Board of Control for 2 years. He also served on the lEA Board of Directors for 4 years. He was awarded the Public Service Award in 1961; the Outstanding Public Award in 1977 and received a Certificate of Recognition from the State Department of Education in 1992. He was especially proud of receiving Honorable Mention in Idaho for the N.A.S.A. Teacher In Space Program. He devoted many years and a lot of his time and energy to the students and the community of the Lost River Valley. He accomplished many things during his 40 years of teaching, plus meeting 2 goals in his life, getting his pilots license and living to see the millennium. In 2013 they left their home in Arco and relocated to Twin Falls. Fred is survived by his wife, Jeanne, of 61 years. Daughter, Terri (Keith) MacKenzie of Boise, Son, Jeff (Lisa) Simpson of Arco and Daughter, Renee (Dale) Eldredge of Fairfield, six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, One brother, Stan Simpson of California and one sister-in-law, Irene Shields of Mitchell, NE. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. The family would like to thank the staff at Visons Hospice and Brookdale Assisted Living for their professional help. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Fred's name to Lost Rivers Senior Citizen , 555 S. Water Street in Arco. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on , 20, 2017 at Reynolds Chapel, 2466 Addison Ave. East, Twin Falls with Deacon Jim Herrett reciting. A Mass will be held at 12:00 noon on , 21, 2017 at St. Edwards the Confessor Catholic Church, 161 6th Ave. East, Twin Falls with Fr. Mike St. Marie celebrating. A Christian Burial will then be held at Hillcrest in Arco at 4:00 p.m. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Marines Honor Guard and the VFW Post #7137.
