Obituary: Nina Webster Shelton, AKA The Swimsuit Lady, 77, of Meridian, passed away on 14th, surrounded by loving family and friends. Nina had a contagious love for life; she wanted to lead and inspire others to live life to the fullest. Nina was born in Bangor, Maine, where she was raised with a large extended family. As a child she developed a love of learning and for the outdoors. She graduated from the State University of New York at Brockport with a Bachelor of Science in Education, specializing in and Physical Education in 1960. Following graduation from college, she drove by herself across the U.S. for graduate school at Washington State University in Pullman, Washington. In 1961, she graduated with a Masters in Physical Education from WSU. Following graduation, Nina worked as a teacher in Lake Oswego, Oregon prior to moving to Boise in 1962. Nina created strong and lasting relationships with many people over her 52-years in Boise. She enjoyed playing cards with friends and family, going out to eat, and entertaining friends in her home. She maintained an extensive network of friends developed over the years. Swimming was an important part of Ninas life. She believed every child should know how to swim, including her four daughters. She participated in Masters Swimming, spent many years officiating swim meets, and spent countless hours pool-side cheering for her children who swam for the Boise YMCA Swim Team. Keeping four girls suited for swimming was not easy or inexpensive in Boise during the 70s. This led Nina to order swimsuits for her girls, sell them to other team members, and travel to swim meets to sell them from her car. Her business grew rapidly and Nina opened the Swim and Run Shop in 1983. Her store specializes in helping customers find the right swimming apparel for vacations, casual exercise, and competitive athletes. Ninas excellence and leadership in business was celebrated in 2010 when she won the Trailblazer Award from the National Association of Women Business Owners. Nina was nominated for this award by members of her LEADs club, a small business networking organization. Nina enjoyed mentoring and supporting young women to help them meet their full potential. Nina loved traveling with friends and family, always looking for opportunities to learn new things and enjoy life with those she loved. Her travel often encompassed water based activities, including white-water rafting, Marlin fishing in Mexico, river cruises in Europe, cruising the Alaskan islands, swimming with the dolphins, and enjoying the beaches of Mexico, Fiji, Grand Cayman, Hawaii, and San Diego. It has been said that a woman dies the way she lived. Nina passed with a fighting spirit; portraying the epitome of dignity and respect throughout her four-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Nina was a force to be celebrated and reckoned with. She provided a gift to others - demonstrating a force and clarity to persevere and accomplish her goals and help others accomplish theirs. Nina is the mother of four daughters; Susan Ruzicka (preceded in death), Jean Shelton of San Diego, CA, Debbie (Kevin) Campbell of Redmond, WA, and Becky (Jack) Schweinberg of Meridian, ID. Nina has enjoyed the company of her three granddaughters (Nicole, Madison, and Kate) and two grandsons (Jonathan and Jackson). Ninas life will be celebrated with a party at Cloverdale on , 20th, 2014 at 2 pm with a reception to follow. Please come share your stories at Ninas celebration of life. In lieu of flowers please make a contribution to the Pancreatic Action Network at www.pancan.org, Livestrong at the YMCA, or the Boise YMCA Swim Team. Letters of condolence can be sent to the Swim and Run Shop at 8620 Fairview Ave, Boise, ID, 83704. |

Obituary: Leslie Neal Shelton was born on 27, 1938 to Jessica and Leslie J. Shelton in Garland, Utah. He passed away on 10, 2017. His early years were spent in Garland and also in the Idaho Falls area with his parents and siblings. Following his fathers death in 1950, Les came to Shelley, Idaho where he was taken in by his aunt and uncle, Nora and Ivan Davis. He credits them with helping him to graduate high school and was grateful for the loving home they provided him. He thrived under their care and enjoyed being a part of their family. His visits back home to visit his mother and siblings were special memories. He was elected student body vice president and was a standout football player at Shelley High School. graduating high school and turning down a football scholarship to Boise Junior , he was happy to leave farm labor to work in construction. He started roofing around Shelley and later went to work for Hughes Roofing in Idaho Falls. He worked as a foreman for Hughes and managed contracts for several years at the INL. Les met Janice Johnson when she was waitressing at Keiths Café in Shelley. were married in 1963. settled in Shelley where they had four children, Lisa Swenson (Steve Lopez), Gina Shuttleworth (Robert), Trisa Clemons (Christian), and Lance Shelton (Kristin). Les loved a good time and adventure. He remembered fondly his days of riding snow machines with his buddies east of Idaho Falls, fishing trips to Cabo San Lucas and when possible, taking his kids to his roofing jobs. Each of his children shares his love for adventure, travel and good times. Les worked as hard as he played. He was truly a master of his craft and made a living by the sweat of his brow roofing houses in Idaho Falls and Shelley on the side, while he worked full-time for Hughes out at the site. He was proud of his hard work, being one of the best roofers in the area and would often point out all the houses he had roofed at one time or another all over Shelley and Idaho Falls. His children credit their dad and mom for instilling in them a strong work ethic. Les and Janice were later divorced. Leslie found love again in 1992 and married Carolyn Harrell Shelton of Howe, Idaho. He joined her and her family on their farm in Howe. He loved Howe, life with Carol, coffee with the guys, and Carols kids and grandkids. Carol was adored by all who knew her. She lost a valiant battle with lung cancer in 2000. Though Les had been dealt some hard blows throughout life, losing Carol was especially difficult. He loved and admired her and would often look at her picture and remark, Now there is a good lady. In his older years as his own health started to decline and he lost his brother, Dennis Shelton, Les often reflected on his life in his woodworking shop. Les continued working with his hands in his shop providing his family and friends with gifts and treasures. Few things brought Les more pride and satisfaction than having the love and companionship of his children. He enjoyed bragging about their successes in life and appreciated their support and care. Les is survived by his children, his seven grandchildren (Lindsay, Rachel, Josh, Emma, Connor, Jackson, and Chloe) and one great-grandson (Cannon). He is also survived by his brothers Allan Shelton (Sonja) and Gary Shelton (Carol) and one sister, Linda Beeman. His children would like to express their gratitude to Sandra, Shelly, and the entire team of caregivers from 1 Assist , Fairwinds Assisted Livings staff, and Hospice of Eastern Idaho who compassionately cared for Les. Their companionship and care made a significant difference in his quality of life. In lieu of flowers the family would request donations be made to Hospice of Eastern Idaho. A Celebration of Life will be held in Leslie's honor at Buck Miller Hann funeral home 825 E 17th St. Idaho Falls, ID 4, 2017 at 11:00 am. made under the direction of Buck Miller Hann funeral home.
