Obituary: Dorothy Jean Scrivner, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away peacefully 28, 2015 in Boise, Idaho. Dorothys children, Greg Scrivner and Sheila Lasson, were at her side at Garnet Place Assisted Living, where she spent the last months of her life in the wonderful, caring environment of staff members, nurses and others who lived there. Dorothy Jean was born 9, 1924 in Boise, Idaho to Dana Arthur Shaw and Amy Jane Cox. Dorothy gained a loving stepfather in 1928 when Amy Jane married Raymond Ernest Brandel, and they took up residence in the Collister area of Boise. Dorothy attended grade school at Green Meadows Elementary, a two-room schoolhouse with grades 1-4 in one room and grades 5-8 in the other. This was during the Great Depression. Dorothy attended Boise High and Economics was her favorite class. She said many times during her life that she learned skills in that class that lasted her entire life! She was a skilled seamstress. It was during this time she began dating Edd Scrivner, and their relationship blossomed quickly. Edd proposed marriage many times until Dorothy finally said yes; they were married on 15, 1941. Edd was employed at Morrison-Knudsen for a time, and his job took them to Lyman Montana, Laramie Wyoming and then back to Boise. In 1945, Edd was drafted into the Army, where he was stationed in Okinawa Japan and the Philippines. While Edd was deployed overseas, Dorothy worked as a hostess at the Boise Idanha Hotel. In 1951, the family moved to Molalla, Oregon for several years. Realizing they all missed Idaho, the family returned and took up residence in Emmett and then Boise. In 1974, Edd and Dorothy moved to Anchorage, Alaska when Edd accepted a job with Hardline Electric, Inc. During their time in Anchorage, they enjoyed trips to Hawaii, England, Ireland and Columbia, South America where son Greg and his family were living. Edd eventually became a shareholder in the company and eventually retired in 1983. The couple then returned to their roots in Boise. When Edd and Dorothy retired, they enjoyed many years of traveling in their motor home across the western United States and Mexico. The couple was married 67 years, until Edds passing in 2007. Dorothy is survived by her son, Greg Scrivner of Boise, Idaho; her daughter and son-in-law Sheila and Bob Lasson of Lehi, Utah; and a son-in-law Alan Hurty of Carlton, Oregon. There are eight grandchildren: Wayne Hurty, John Hurty, Rachel Hurty, Lynne Davis, Wade Robison, Justin Robison, Ian Scrivner, Sean Scrivner, as well as four step-grandchildren: Tara Schneider, Paige Haught, Jenna Nelson, Bryn Nelson and 30 great-grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Shannon Hurty, son-in-law Leland (Lee) Robison, brother Lefty Brandel and sister Arliss St. Clair. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the watch givers, Horizon & Hospice, and Garnet Place Senior Living staff for the dignified care Dorothy received during her residency there. A graveside service will be held , 13 at 10am at the Idaho State Veterans for family members. Memorial services are at Cloverdale at Noon, followed by a reception at 1pm. |

Obituary: .Sandra Ruth (Heitz) Scott, age 63, passed away at home 10, 2016 of natural causes. Sandra was the third child born to John and Vera Heitz (of Fruitland and later of New Plymouth). Sandy spent most of her school years in New Plymouth, transferring in her senior year and graduating in 1971 from Glenns Ferry High School. Growing up in New Plymouth as a child of farmers, our mom learned a love of nature and animals of all types, but her greatest love was her dairy goats; she enjoyed being a part of the American Dairy Goat Association, participating in shows, and was very proud to have earned her A.D.G.A. life time membership award several years ago. Sandy had unending tenderness and patience for all of Gods animals great or small; she treated them all with care and love. At our moms knee we learned an appreciation of animals and the value they can add to our lives. She is survived by a daughter Woneta Mendive (Rick) of Nyssa; a son Casimiro Shane Ramos (Niki) of Payette; a sister Nancy Wootan of Glenns Ferry; and her grandchildren. My brother Shane and I would like to thank all of the friends that have been so wonderful to our mother. Cremation is under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette.
