Obituary: Ventura F. Salinas Twin Falls resident Ventura F. Salinas, 77, died 26, 2015, at his home in Twin Falls, Idaho. Mr. Salinas was born Feb. 7, 1937 in Candela, Mexico to Ventura and Jovita Salinas. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Maria Del Carmen Salinas, his sons, Jose, Robert, Relvy, and Raymond; his daughters, Mary Lou Pacheco (Cristobal), Maria Doerr (Clint), with special consideration to Raymond and Violet Ruiz, 12 grandkids, and six great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his mother, Jovita Salinas; son, Rolando Salinas, and daughter, Maria del Carmen Salinas. Ventura moved with his wife and children to Twin Falls Idaho in 1967 as a migrant worker and made a name for himself as a dedicated Custom Hay Hauler. He was a great welder and found it a challenge to be able to fix anything that was broken even if it consisted of some of his unique modifications. In his mangled madness of his treasures could be found everyones mechanical solutions. He always had candy in his pocket for any child that he may encounter. His grandchildren were his life. He would make sure there was always ice cream, candy and just about anything else a responsible parent would limit their child on and any loving grandparent would want to spoil them with. Ventura had a passion for singing and if you were within ear shot of him you most likely were treated with the wonderful echoes of his magnificent voice. One of his greatest and proudest accomplishments was when he and Maria received their United States Citizenship. In honor of this and his respect for our United States Military, Ventura proudly flew the United States American Flag on his mailbox to where every person that drove by his little farm could be reminded of his tribute to them. At the familys request there will be no services at this time. A celebration of his life will occur at a later date. are under the direction of Reynolds Chapel, Twin Falls. Obituary: Librado (Lee) Salinas, age 85, of Twin Falls, Idaho went to be with his Heavenly Father on , 18, in his home surrounded by family members. Born in Candela, Mexico in 1929, he was the eldest child of Ventura Salinas and Jovita Fuentes. He attended primary school in Mexico and completed the Welding program at the of Southern Idaho in 1987 and became a naturalized US citizen in 1990. Lee was a self-employed seasonal agricultural worker. At the age of 60 he secured a position at Lamb Weston, where he worked from 1990 to 1997. He retired in 1997 and spent time visiting his children and grandchildren across the US. He was acknowledged by former Attorney General Echohawk for his contributions to a study on Migrant Farmworkers in Idaho. He was a supporter of the Idaho Migrant Council for many years and a member of the Catholic community. He came from humble means, the oldest of 7 children. As a child he was raised and worked for his grandmother and Aunt Margaret at a boarding house in Candela. While he was entitled to a Military University education, it would prove to be a missed opportunity as he would assume the responsibility to care for his grandmother and Aunt. His responsibilities would soon increase after the passing of his father he assumed the role of provider for his younger siblings and mother. He paved the way and they would all follow him to Twin Falls, one by one. He led by example and served as the catalyst for his brothers to start their own trucking businesses. He and his brothers established lasting friendships as they hauled hay for many of the local farmers for several decades. The Noh, Barnes, Holmstead, Bamesberger, Boss, Jerard, Richter, Black and Schenal Families and many others played an integral role in his life. Sister Rosemary Boessen is and continues to be a source of strength for the Salinas family. Over the years we have been blessed by the friendship and support of the Sanchez, Rodriguez, Brito, Galvan, Hernandez, Arambula, Jimenez and many other families. Thanks to Lee the Salinas family has grown to over 100 relatives in the Twin Falls area. Without the support of our immediate and extended family this loss would not be bearable. From our family to yours, we thank you for the love. Lee and Irma Benavides were married in 1955 in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. marrying Irma they settled in Twin Falls where he bought a little one-bedroom house on South Washington Street. It was his gift to his bride. It was the home in which they raised their family and the home where he would breathe his last breath. He was a father to eight, grandfather to 20 children and great-grandfather to 13. Lee was full of wisdom, strength and perseverance. If he was filled with anything besides kindness and caring it was pride in his family. He gave his children the kind of education that money cannot buy. He always stressed the importance of education, unconditional love, forgiveness and hard work. Every morning he would bring Irma a cup of coffee, even if she was still asleep. He could often be found in the kitchen eating his favorite snack, flour tortillas with avocado. Friends and family would frequently encounter him in the Casinos of Jackpot, Nevada enjoying his favorite pastime. Thanks to Lee, large extended-family gatherings became a Salinas family staple, everything from campouts to cookouts. His work ethic went above and beyond. He attacked challenges with a focus and determination and refused to accept failure. He was an amazing storyteller. His eyes would open and his voice would raise and he would laugh so hard at his own joke, you couldn help but laugh along with him too. When you asked him how he was doing, he would often answer, Estoy bien manda cien ($100). Humor, love, kindness - those are honest and fitting descriptors of a man who won, he lived the American dream. He was a man who made this world a better place, and who loved without reservation until it was time to come home. His wife Irma would like to thank him for 60 years full of love and the joy of eight beautiful children. Thank you for supporting me and for allowing me to travel and spend time with my parents in Mexico. Te quiero y por siempre te voy a querer. Lee is survived by his wife, Irma and eight children, Santos (Ruth) Salinas, Ana (Lanier) McElrath, Mario (Olga) Salinas, Lisa (Jeff) Manners, Oscar (Megan) Salinas, Irma (Blaine) Stanley, Victoria (Jeff) Vargas, Grace (Bob) Casper, 20 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by Ventura Salinas (father), Jovita Fuentes (mother), Ventura Salinas Jr. (brother), and Ricardo Salinas (brother). Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on , 23, 2015 at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, 161 6th Ave. East, in Twin Falls with Fr. Mauricio Medina celebrating. A Rosary prayer service will be recited at 6:30 p.m. on evening, 22, 2015 at Reynolds Chapel, Twin Falls. A viewing for family and friends will take place on evening from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the Rosary at Reynolds Chapel, 2466 Addison Ave. East, Twin Falls. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to La Posada Ministry (Sister Rosemary Boessen) at 355 4th Ave W, Twin Falls, ID 83301. Special Thanks to the staff at Hospice Visions for their compassionate care. Thank you to the greater Twin Falls community for embracing and blessing our family.
