Obituary: Mrs. Thelma Crews Strickland, 88, died night ( 12, 2016) at Life of Jacksonville, FL after an extended illness. She was born in Hoboken, GA but had lived in Jacksonville, FL most of her life. She was a daughter of the late Ira J. Crews and Neva Dixon Crews and married to the late Herbert E. Strickland. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Raye Strickland. Thelma was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved life and never met a stranger. Her empathy for others was only one of her truly admirable qualities. As a child she grew up on a farm surrounded by love and lots of family. Even as an adult she would gather with her brothers and sisters on Grannys porch and sing while others played music. Some of the things in life that she enjoyed were fishing at the lake house, blue grass music, traveling in the motorhome, crafts & sewing, jewelry, jewelry, and more jewelry! She loved to watch her wrestling and soap operas on tv, spoiling her children and grandchildren, and riding around looking at Christmas lights during the holidays. To those of us that were blessed to have known her have lost a shining star, but have comfort in knowing that Heaven had gained another Angel. Survivors include two daughters, Neva Karon Strickland Ross (Scott) of Jacksonville, FL, and Connie Marie Strickland Smith of Bryceville, FL; five grandchildren, Angie Wells (Jim), Shauna Davis (Calvin), Amanda Maloney (Shaun), Derek Smith and Del Smith; six great grandchildren, Austin Wells, Jay Wells, Ansley Wells, Alden Davis , Brody Davis and Wyatt Smith; one great great grandchild, Raylan Wells; two brothers, Fleming Crews and Whitmer Crews both of Hoboken; one sister, Mary Thomas of Waycross; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. ( 16, 2015) at the Music Chapel. Burial will follow in High Bluff . The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 12 until 2 oclock. Following the burial, a reception for the family will be held at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Hoboken. Sympathy may be expressed by signing the online registry at www.musicfuneralhome.com. |

Obituary: The family of Sean M. Strickland, 26, of Cape Coral mourns his tragic death of 5, 2016. Sean was born in Philadelphia, PA in 1990 to Bob Strickland and Judi Walters. He grew up in Rochester, NY and attended Brighton High School and Monroe Community college. Sean moved to Cape Coral in 2015. Survivors include his mother Judi Walters and stepfather Gregg MacDonald both of Cape Coral, sister Diana Strickland (husband Joe Hughes) of Yardley, PA, and brother Alex Strickland, PA. Aunts and uncles in Cape Coral include Patricia and Jim Matula, Lois Kellet and Dave Kellet, Robert Hollenbach. Aunts and uncles in PA include Donna Zlocki, Butch and Jackie Walters. Seans uncle Bill Strickland resides in Utah. His cousins were many, the closest ones making up the Three Musketeers with Sean were Gabriella Zlocki and Rachel Walters, both of PA. Sean leaves behind many close friends and adoptive family in Rochester, NY. To know Sean was a privilege. He was a kind, gentle soul who offered a hand to anyone who needed help. Sean greeted everyone with a smile. He loved the beach, the ocean and everything Irish. He was an avid ice hockey fan and played hockey as a goalie throughout his youth. He also followed the Packers faithfully.
