Obituary: Jerry Allan Strickland, 71, of Quincy, died (6/3) at Tallahassee Memorial care. Jerry was a native of San Jose, California. Despite having been hit by a bus and confined to a bed for over a year as a teenager, Jerry recovered enough to have served in the US Air Force. He always enjoyed working on engines and even rebuilt an automobile engine from his bedside while still recovering from his accident. Following his Air Force service he went through the police academy & worked his way up to homicide detective in Miami-Dade . moving to North Florida in 1981 Jerry worked as an automobile mechanic and his last position was with Auto Super Service in Tallahassee. Preceded in death by his parents: Colin Alonzo & Virginia Sheppard Strickland, brother: Jack, sister: Jan, and great-grandson: Jackson; survivors include his son: Robert Allan daughters: Deborah Jean , and Jeri Lyn; brother: Joe of Perry; ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. A memorial service and ashes release at sea will be held at 6:30 pm on 12, 2015 at Keaton Beach that is located at the end of Hwy 460 in Perry, Florida. |

Obituary: Jeanette Chappell Strickland, 84, passed away peacefully on 29, 2014 in Orlando, FL. She was born in Glen Allen, VA to John and Florence Chappell. She was one of ten children and married Frank Strickland in , 1953 at Goodwill Baptist Church in Glen Allen, VA. Jeanette was a devoted member of North Park Baptist Church, where she was a School teacher and enriched many little minds and was a member of the kitchen committee, where she served dinner on nights for the community. She was an interior designer and decorator and also worked for Eastern Airlines. She was known for her extensive collection of hats and her love for them all, especially her red ones. Jeanette resided in Orlando with her husband and enjoyed gardening and sitting outside on her swing. She is survived by her loving husband Frank, daughter Fay Geving; sisters Etta Graser and Lois Ann (Bobby), eight grandchildren, Mark Dwayne Geving, Derrick Geving, Cameron Strickland, Scott Sewell (Laura), David Sewell (Christine), Amanda, Alayna and Austin Strickland, and four great grandchildren, Emma and Tasher Sewell, Brendan and Trevor Spedden, sister-in-law, Patricia Harbin (Doyle), plus countless nieces and nephews, whom she dearly loved. She is preceded in death by her parents, three children, Cynthia Strickland-Kocour, Brenda Sewell (Jack) and Douglas Strickland, and granddaughter Lavon Lea. Services will be held at 11 am, , May 3, 2014 at North Park Baptist Church in Baldwin Park. Burial to follow at Glen Haven Memorial Park.
