Obituary: Deborah Stokes, 50 of Everglades City, FL., passed away on 11, 2011. Debbie was born on 8, 1960 in West Camden, NJ to the late Robert Bob Mickens and Marie Mickens. She is survived by her beloved husband; Brett Stokes Sr.; her children, Brett Stokes, Jr., and Jamie Stokes of Everglades City, FL; and the light of her life-her only grandson, Harley Stokes; brother, Bob Mickens Jr; sister, Patti Ritorto and husband Eddie Ritorto; nephews, Seth Mickens, Nicky Ritorto and Eddie Ritorto Jr; late grandpa George Griffin and late beloved gramdma, Marge C. Griffin; late grandpa Albert Mickens and late grandma Teresa Mickens; Aunt Mary who is 97 years old. Brett, Debbies husband, stayed by her side, took care of her, and supported her during her long illness of cancer of which she was a survivor. He was there for her until her death. Her parents family lives in New Jersey and she always enjoyed visiting them each year. She also loved spending time with children and her grandson. Debbie will be sadly missed by her precious family. A visitation will be held , 16th, 2011 from 10 - 11 AM followed by a funeral service at 11 AM at Hodges at Naples Memorial Gardens, 525 111th Ave., North, Naples, Florida 34108 |

Obituary: Daythel Rogers Stokes passed away peacefully on 17, 2016. Daythel was born 5, 1931 to Sarah Emmaline and Dennis Marvin Rogers, in Stewart , Tennessee during the depth of the Great Depression. When she was eleven years old her family farm was taken by the US government to be included in Fort Campbell military base. Her family then moved to Lafayette, Ky. where she finished High School in 1949. She then graduated from Baptist Memorial School in Memphis, in 1953. Due to her Mothers terminal illness with cancer Daythel took care of her and then went to Nashville, TN. and in 1957 graduated from Belmont . She came to Atlanta, Georgia and taught in the School at Grady Memorial Hospital until 1959, where she met her husband, Joseph B. Stokes, Jr. were married on 4, 1961` and moved to Pensacola, Florida where she worked for a short time at Baptist Memorial Hospital. her husband finished his two-year stint in the Navy, they moved to Jacksonville, Florida where she taught in School at St Lukes Hospital until it closed in 1964,then at St Vincents school for one year, resigning to raise a family. Their first son, Joseph B. Stokes III, was born 16 1966 and their second son, David Rogers Stokes, was born 23, 1967.Surviving also are Samantha Guido Stokes (daughter-in-law), granddaughters Emmaline Boulware Stokes and Elizabeth Bailey Stokes. Two sisters, Ruby McKinney and Virgie Smith, predeceased Daythel. She was involved in many Christian and community organizations. She was a founding member and director of Mothers Day Out program at Avondale United Methodist Church for several years and was a founding member of Abundant Life Church where she headed up the childrens ministry for several years. She was strongly family oriented and worked vigorously in activities to strengthen the family She will be remembered for her gift of hospitality, quick wit, love of shopping, love of travel, and love of teaching. Daythel was of small stature but was bigger than life. entrusted to Hardage Giddens 729 S Edgewood Ave Jax. Fl 32205. The family will receive guests at Abundant Life Church 7700 Wilson Blvd, Jax. 32210, , at 10:30am. A celebration of Daythels life will begin at 11:30 am, 25, followed by interment at Jacksonville National at 2 pm.
