Obituary: Benjamin Milton Stevens Milton was taken to his heavenly home to join his wife, Mildred Gibbons Stevens, on , 28, 2014. He was 92 years of age. Milton loved people and was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend to so many. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. His father, Benjamin Marion Stevens, and his mother, Ollie Belle Manley Stevens, lived in Memphis along with their eight children. He was an engineer for the Frisco Railroad. Milton returned to Memphis after four years of honorable service during WWII as a soldier with the 5th Army during the North African and Italian campaigns. He married his high school sweetheart, Mildred Gibbons, and they started their family. He was an employee of International Harvester for almost 40 years. He and Mildred lived in Bartlett, Tennessee where they raised their family and attended Bartlett United Methodist Church until they relocated to Sarasota, Florida in 2003. Milton leaves behind his sister, Ollie Katherine Tatum; two brothers, Melvin Eugene Stevens and Raymond Douglas Stevens; three children, Ken G. Stevens of New Braunfels, Texas, Marion M. Stevens of Memphis, and LuAnne S. Kirschner of Sarasota; four grandchildren, Brian K. Stevens, Robert H. Stevens, Claire C. Bowman, and Ellen G. Coleman; and three great-grandchildren, Emery Stevens, Benjamin Bowman, and Samuel Bowman. There will be a graveside service at Memphis Memorial Park at 11:00am on , 12, 2014. Family and friends will gather at Memorial Park at 10:30am and proceed to graveside led by Reverend Dr. Mark Matheny. Obituary: Anton Stevens of Port Richey, Florida passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family at the age of 100; 24 days shy of his 101st birthday. He was born to Johannes & Louisa Stevens in Nijmegen, Netherlands on 25 1910. He & his family immigrated to the United States at the age of 2 and became a proud United States Citizen at the age of 12. Anton married Anna Stevens on 4, 1928 and remained married for 70 years until her passing on 25, 1998. He resided in Chicago and Riverside, Illinois until retirement in 1973, moving to Port Richey, Florida. He was a member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Chicago, IL and Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in New Port Richey, Florida. Anton worked various jobs in his century of life, as a paperboy in childhood, to selling butter and eggs during the years of the depression to support his family. Later he worked for Tucker Automotive (although they had a brief existence). Others employments included Ford, Buick, Wisconsin Steel, Chicago Pottery, Sears, Majesta Radio, Eureka Vacuum and then retiring from Jennings Co. after 25 years. Unable to serve during World War II for our armed forces due to health reasons, he still served proudly state side in the Civil Defense Service. In his retirement he loved to do odd maintenance jobs for his friends, neighbors and family. No job was too big or too hard as he said. He loved to bowl until his 80s, was a passionate baseball fan of the Chicago Cubs and Tampa Bay Rays until the end, he never missed a game. His brilliant mind was satiated in his love of crossword puzzles, writing poetry and helping grandchildren with their homework. He was always there with support and encouragement when his family and friends needed him. He is survived by one son: Leon Stevens of Elgin IL and 8 grand children: Lenae Demberg, Leon Stevens Jr., Carrie Gissel,, Bonnie Fletcher, Donna Stevens, Mark Stevens, Jackie Lipke, Laura LaGrano; 14 great grand children and 13 great-great grand children and many nieces and nephews who all will miss him terribly. His greatest accomplishment was turning 100 years old and being able to tell the stories of his life, the changes in our world he has seen, to all of his children, grand children, great grand children and great-great grand children on his mile marker birthday. His disappointment would be, that his wife Anna and daughter MaryAnn were not by his side. He is preceded in death by his wife Anna Stevens, daughter MaryAnn Simonelig and two brothers, John Stevens and Louis Stevens. He was a loving, loyal, honest and hardworking, spouse, father, grandfather and friend to so many people and will sadly be missed.
