Obituary: Robert (Bob) Stephens was a man loved truly by so many. He was not a man large in stature but very large in spirit. A niece described him perfectly as one of the zaniest and spunkiest men she ever knew. Anytime you were around him, he had a way of making you laugh. He would say things that would leave you like,' wait, what?!' and then it slowly became clear and the laughter began. He worked hard to support his wife and children, whom he loved dearly. He is remembered by his loving wife Betty, of 50 years. She spoke at his bedside in his last days of the many camping trips they would take the children on, knowing the importance of making memories. She also spoke of the numerous children that Bob had a hand in raising beside their own, teaching each the importance of hard work along with the fun side of life, including his favorite sport, fishing. He took every opportunity to throw a line... and if it was time to go, his response, "Wait a minute, Babe!" He is also remembered by his daughter Lorie. She was looking over her baby book and it states that her first word was "Bob". She was always told she was her Daddy's girl. She remembers the long ago day that she first "met" him, she knew instantly who he was and she is confident that she will know who he is when she 'first' sees him in Heaven. He is also remembered by his oldest son, Bobby. He remembers some of his greatest adventures with his Dad, one of which involved teaching his sister how to fish with a rod and reel. She hooked Bobby's ear and Dad was trying to remove the top-water lure from it. He loves and respects his Dad for giving him a true work ethic and teaching him to be a caring and supportive husband and father. He too is remembered by his youngest son, Tim. He is so appreciative of all who came in Dad's last days "to sea him off 2 Heaven". He knows it was a clear message for everyone, that God delivers on his own time line. He knows his Dad will always be his angling partner, he's in his blood, He too respects his humble persona and his sly whit. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Betty Stephens, his daughter Lorie Lyn (Bucky) Williams, 4 grandsons and 4 great grandsons and 2 great granddaughters, his son Robert Lee 'Bobby' (Martha) Stephens, 4 grandsons and 4 granddaughters, his son Timothy 'Tim' Wade (Riegina) Stephens, 2 grandsons and 1 great grandson. He is also survived by brother Steve (Carol) Stephens and Frank (Sarah) Stephens. A visitation will be held at Hardage Giddens 5753 Blanding Blvd. 10, 2015 from 5-8 pm; followed by Srvice at the same location at 11 am 11 to be follwed by Interment at Oakland , Middleburg, Fl. |
