Obituary: Charlotte E. Smith, age 78 of Naples died at her residence, 9, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Hilburn and Elizabeth Cook Smith. Charlotte is survived by her son Michael (Colleen) Provost of Naples, her daughters, Linda (Ken) Kienholz of Crescent City, FL and Diane (John) Hires of Franklinville, NJ, nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She is also survived by, a son -in-law Ron Perry, her sister Lucretia (Jim) Castor of Naples, FL,her brother, Phillip (Phyla) Smith of Marco Island, and a very large extended family. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Perry, and two sisters, Ava and Hildred Ann. Graveside services will be held (today) Jan 13th at 10:00 am at Marco Island . Obituary: Charlotte R. Smith, 97, died peacefully 6, at Hospice House in Tallahassee, Florida. Charlotte was born 29, 1917 in Columbus, Ohio to Anna Leupp Rauscher and Charles Rauscher. graduation from Grandview High School and Stenographers School, she was rewarded by her parents with a trip to visit friends in Bradenton, Florida. being taken with the area, Charlotte convinced her family to leave Ohio and move to Florida with her. She arrived in Bradenton in 1935 where she would later meet the love of her life Walter J. Smith, Jr., who was stationed at Drew Field in Tampa during WWII. Soon after the war ended in 1945, they were married and built a life and business together for the next thirty-four years until Walters passing in 1979. Charlotte then worked for Manatee until she retired at age 70, later moving to Tallahassee to be closer to her daughter and family. She was an adoring mother and grandmother who delighted in spending time with her family whether it was traveling or simply going to lunch. Charlotte enjoyed crocheting caps for the infants at Tallahassee Memorial as well as many for the babies of family and friends. She was an avid reader and Tampa Bay Rays baseball fan not to mention poet to those who knew her best. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Walter, and her sister Wilma Wolfe. She is survived by her only child, Sue Jones (Charlie) of Monticello, FL; Granddaughters Amanda Humphress Smith (Justin) of Panama City Beach, FL; and Laura Ann Humphress Toussaint (Scott) of Palo Alto, CA; along with several dear nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 am , 8, at Culleys MeadowWood on Riggins Road with burial at Manasota Memorial Park in Bradenton, Florida at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Leon Humane Society for their Rescue Joy Ride Fundraising Challenge. |

Obituary: SMITH, CHARLOTTE A. 82, of Orlando, Fl, claimed her heavenly reward on 27, 2011. Mrs. Smith was born in Orange, TX on 5, 1928 to the late Donovan & Cleo (Norris) Search. She was an ordained minister in the Salvation Army church from 1946 to 1948 in VA and WV, Cub Scout Den Mother for several years (MD and VA), Sunbeam leader (SC), School Superintendent (Jacksonville, FL), Brownie / Junior / Cadet / Senior Girl Scout Leader, Girl Scout Council Member (Gateway and Monroe Councils), Pied Piper (Tri- Council) (Jacksonville and Key West), Local PTA President (Jacksonville), Youth leader for Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF) in Jacksonville, Navy Officer Wives Association (many posts), choir member for her various churches, Navy Relief Store (Director) in Key West, Sacred Dancers Director and Founder (Grace United Methodist Church - Orlando). She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Veterans of Foreign Wars (LAVFW) Post 2093 (Orlando) and Life member of The Retired Officer Association Auxiliary (TROA). One of her greatest joys was traveling across the country when her husbands (Bob) duty stations changed with her 6 children and sharing her love that she held for this country. She instilled patriotism into her children and a love for the Lord along the way. Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her one true soul-mate of 61 years, Robert E. Smith; her parents; sister, Mellie Beth; daughter-in-law, Ceil Smith; and brother-in-law, Robert Adams. Her survivors include: three sons, Robert, John and Don (Helen) Smith; three daughters, Debra (Dave) Burpee, Coreen (Edwin) Benedetto and Doreen (David) Barrowman; eleven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service celebrating her life and her reuniting with her beloved husband (Bob) will be held on , 2 (their 63rd wedding anniversary). The service will be held at First United Methodist Church of Pine Hills, 1400 N. Nowell Street, Orlando, on 2 , 2011 at 1:00 PM. Interment will be at a later date at Florida National -Bushnell.
