Obituary: Charles Robinson Smith, III, 59 of Oxford, Maryland and Jupiter, Florida died on 23, 2015 in Palm Beach, Florida of brain cancer. Born in Annapolis, Maryland on May 23, 1955, Charlie spent his whole life enjoying the outdoors. As a member of the The Annapolis and Tred Avon Yacht Clubs, The Admirals Cove Club, The Palm Beach Yacht Club, and The Ocean Reef Club, he was an intrepid sailor racing with Ted Turner in 1971 and 1973 on the American Eagle. Charlie was a passionate hunter, fisherman and avid student of history. Upon graduation from Annapolis High School, Charlie started Yacht Maintenance , purchasing in 1978, the former Cambridge Shipyard in Maryland, to grow Yacht Maintenance into the successful marine services facility that it is today. Charlie had an unparalleled zest for life and lived each day with a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. He was loyal to his family and friends and was loved by many. Charlie is survived by his beloved and devoted wife, Elizabeth Fago Smith; his stepchildren Paul Walczak (Patti), Stephanie Walczak, Joseph Fago (Jamie); four step grandchildren Abigail, Alexandra, Addison, and Elizabeth; his parents, Charles R. Smith Jr. and Ann Carr Smith; his sisters, Jane Smith Hall (Jeffrey) and Lisa Smith McCarl (Clayton); nieces and nephews Jonathan Hall, Clayton McCarl (Lindsay) and Ashley McCarl Harrison (Rachid) and Drew McCarl. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Charles R. Smith's name to Big Dog Ranch Rescue, 1090 Jupiter Park Drive, Jupiter, Florida 33458 or online at BDRR.org. A Memorial Reception will be held in Florida on 26 at 5:00 P.M. at Elizabeth and Charlie's home at 372 Regatta Drive, Jupiter, Florida 33477. Obituary: Charlie R. Smith, age 50, passed away peacefully on , 16, 2014 after a short battle with leukemia. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was born on 9, 1964 in Darmstadt, Germany. He was a wonderful son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and nephew. He loved his little nieces and nephews. He graduated from high school in Yorktown, VA, but got most of his education overseas in div. military schools. He was a retired Yard Agent for the Norfolk and Southern Railroad in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. He moved from Michigan to Florida in 1985. Smitty was of the Christian faith and served in WWII with the U.S. Navy. He Enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. Survivors include his sons; Charles Smith of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, John Smith and wife Lisa of Ft. Wayne, Indiana and Phillip T.
