Obituary: Lena Esmenia Lonnie Sinclair was born in Kingston, Jamaica on 1st, 1924. Her parents were Mary Ann and Charles Alexis Lonnie. Lena married the love of her life, Ralph Lloyd Sinclair, for over 50 years before his passing in 1999. Lena completed high school and entered into commercial school in Jamaica, where she graduated in secretarial studies. She took baking and pastry courses, which was one of her passions. Throughout her career, she gained experience in the hospitality industry until she migrated to the U.S. in 1974. When she arrived to the U.S. she worked in the banking and financial industry until retirement. During retirement, she committed her time to the caregiving of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as other kids. Lenas passions in life were family, cooking, baking, and gardening. Lena was the most caring and loving person you could have known. She enjoyed life to the fullest. At the age of 92 the lord called her home. Lena had a big family including four children, Eric, Michael, Howard, and Joy; 14 grand children, Richard, Patrice, Tammy, Lisa, Keisha, Raquel, Howard, Maria, Gail, Nikki, Dwayne, Paul, Denisha, and Shane. Lenas family continued to expand to include over 15 great grandchildren. Lena loved her family so much that she treated her nieces and nephews as her own, which includes Donna, Derrick, Carol, Tony, and Phyllis. Lena had a hand in raising over 40 children in her lifetime, not mentioning children outside of the family. We will always remember Lena for her love and admiration for the children in her life, as well as her passion for baking delicious treats, and growing beautiful gardens. Lena was much more than just a grandmother, she was a friend, a mentor, an example setter, an encourager, a compassionate partner, and a beautiful soul that God sent to touch the lives of many. We will always cherish you for everything that you were and you will always remain apart of our hearts and in our memories. We will forever love you grandma! Rest in Peace. |
