Obituary: Al L. Schneider, 89, passed away at his home , May 26, 2012 Al Schneider was born in Jacksonville, Fla., on Oct. 29, 1922. He was preceded in death by his parents, T.M. Schneider and Sylvia S. Schneider, sisters Mimi Mendelson and Bernice Solomon, and first wife Betty F. Schneider, mother of his two children and his step-son Hugh F. Palmer. Mr. Schneider is survived by his wife Camilla F. Schneider of 23 years, son Jay K. Schneider of Jacksonville, Fla., daughter Sally Kramer (Dr. Richard Kramer) of Coral Springs, Fla., brother Dr. Cole S. Schneider (Elsa) of New Orleans, La., step-daughter Angela Cornell (Kenneth) of Gainesville, Fla., step-daughter-in-law Amy Palmer of Atlantic Beach, Fla., three grandchildren and three step-grandchildren. Mr. Schneider graduated from the University of Florida, of Law, L.L.B. in 1949; converted to J.D. in 1967, and was admitted to practice law in the state of Florida in 1949. He practiced law in Jacksonville from 1949 until 1984, when he retired due to illness. From 1985 until 2001 when he retired, he was of counsel to Brant, Moore, Macdonald & Wells, P.A.; former general counsel to the Florida State Board of ; and former Assistant Trial Attorney for Florida Real Estate Commission. He practiced primarily in the fields of real estate, corporate and financial law representing builders, developers, financial institutions and various corporations, including William Cook Agency, Inc. Mr. Schneider was the senior member of the law firm of Schneider & Dunay; former chairman of the Real Property Committee of the Jacksonville Bar Association; and member of the Jacksonville, Florida, and American Bar Associations. Mr. Schneider was a member of Tau Epsilon Phi Fraternity, Florida Blue Key and F. Club (Lettermans Club) at the University of Florida, and the University of Florida Alumni Association and Gator Boosters, Inc.; former member, Presidents Council, University of Florida; former president, Junior Chamber of Commerce; former member, Committee of 100 of Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce; one of the original 13 founding members, past president and former member of Board of Trustees of Beth Shalom Congregation; past president, Jacksonville Jewish Federation; former member, Board of Directors of Jewish Welfare Society of Jacksonville Family Consultation Services, River Garden Hebrew for the Aged, State of Florida Builders Association; former second vice president and Board of Directors member, Northeast Florida Builders Association; area two vice president Florida Builders Association; former Board of Governors member, The National Conference; former vice chairman, Florida Regional Advisory Board of the Anti-Defamation League; National Civil Rights Committee member, Anti-Defamation League; Outstanding Citizen Award for 1963; former member, University Council of Jacksonville University, United States Senate Advisory Committee on Housing, Attorneys Advisory Committee to the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development; admitted to practice law in the Federal Court of the Northern District of Florida, U.S. District Court of Appeals of the Fifth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Schneider was a Shriner, Mason, and Member of Scottish Rite; a World War II veteran, having served three-and-a-half years in the U.S. Air Force; a member of Jewish War Veterans and former member of the River Club, University Club and Ponte Vedra Club & Inn. Memorial Contributions can be made to the Betty Schneider Memorial Fund at the Jacksonville Jewish . Obituary: Agnes Schneider, 95, passed away peacefully on 22, 2015. She was born 26, 1919 to the late Michael and Anna Gasper in Schalkenbach, Germany and was the seventh of their nine children. She grew up on a farm and their house was the last one on the hill, thus her nickname, Hilta Agnes. She lived in Germany most of her young adult life until she met a German born American Army soldier, who was stationed in Germany during WWII. Agnes and William Bill Schneider were married in Germany, and she later joined Bill in Pensacola in 1952. Agnes and Bill were longtime residents of East Pensacola Heights, and spent many summers with their three children enjoying water activities on Bayou Texar. were members of the German Hansa Club and Agnes served as President of the German Womens Club for 50 years. Agnes was also a charter member of St. Pauls Catholic Church. She would return to her beloved homeland many, many times. One such trip was in 1965 when Agnes and Bill and their young children drove to New York in a Volkswagen Beetle (luggage rack on top) to catch a plane to Germany, where they spent the entire summer. She also enjoyed travelling on bus trips to Missouri and Tennessee with her friends in the Golden Agers. She was very passionate about gardening, and took great pride in her yard. It was not unusual to see her tending her beautiful plants and flowers, pulling weeds, raking leaves, sweeping the street, and stacking perfect debris piles. She enjoyed her numerous plant sales, and no matter how busy she was, she would always take the time to stop and talk to a neighbor or stranger passing by. Agnes loved to dance and was the first one on the dance floor when it came to a German waltz or polka. She was very proud of her heritage, and loved to recite witticisms and tell stories about the old country. We will always remember those wonderful stories and traditions she handed down. She was a strong woman and always stressed the importance of education. Her philosophy was that you could accomplish anything if you put your mind to it, comically referring to how she taught herself to speak English by looking at the funnies in the newspaper. Agnes spent her remaining years living with her family in Gulf Breeze, which she would affectionately refer to as her paradise. She always had a smile on her face and had a happy go lucky outlook on life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, William Bill Schneider, and her loving son, Fred Schneider. Left to cherish her memory, are her two daughters, Anna Shiplee and Carla Smith, her son-in-law Marshall Smith, and her beloved granddaughter Lauren Shiplee, (Schatzy). Visitation with the family will be on , 31, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anns Catholic Church in Gulf Breeze, Florida. A funeral mass will follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m. The family would like to extend a special thanks to The Villas of Gulf Breeze and Emerald Coast Hospice for their care and services.
