Obituary: Lydia Miller Sanders Born 16, 1930 Lydia was raised in the Terryville, Bristol, CT. area and was a graduate of E C Goodwin Technical School in New Britain, CT where she received her diploma as a seamstress by trade. She worked a variety of jobs sewing; having run her own dressmaking business in the 1950s, and making custom drapery and slipcovers for a designer in the 1960s. Lydia married her childhood sweetheart, Albert Sanders, in 1948 and they built their own house in Plainville, CT. Life happened and they moved to Harwinton, CT, Thomaston, CT, Middlefield, MA, finally retiring to Naples, FL during their 66 years of marriage. A farm in Middlefield, MA was her first retirement home. Always active in her community, Lydia joined in the activities at the Grange, and the Middlefield Fair. As an exhibitor she won many blue ribbons for her craft displays. She served as docent in the Exhibit Hall. She and Al revived a defunct history museum in the town and proudly served as docents at the reopened Middlefield Historical Museum. The move to Naples sparked a new interest; Shells. As a member of the Naples Shell Club she crafted with shells and collected shells with a passion. An accomplished artist, Lydia began painting with renewed enthusiasm upon her move to Naples, where she joined the Decorative Artists of S W Florida. Even in her last weeks she attended a painting convention in Ohio and shared her supplies and knowledge with her ‘painting buddies. Lydia will be missed. Lydia is survived by her husband, Albert, her daughters Nancy Thompson and Carol Sausville, granddaughters Jennifer DiFronzo and Emily Sausville, and great-granddaughters Amanda Lumley, Richelle DiFronzo and Faith DiFronzo. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Avow Hospice, Naples, FL |

Obituary: Louise Heiser Gover Sanders, 94, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away , 11, 2015, in Port Charlotte. She was born 6, 1920, in Hamilton, Ohio to Arthur S. and Gladys L. Heiser. The family moved to the Chicago, Illinois area when she was in her early teens. She attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and then took a job as a dietician in Chicago, where she met her first husband, Alex M. Gover of Charlotte, North Carolina. were married on May 16, 1943 in the chapel at Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter, South Carolina. Over the years, they lived in the Carolinas and retired to Naples, Florida in 1968. In 1979 she and Alex returned to Sumter, where they resided until his death on 9, 2008, after almost 65 years of marriage. In 2010 she moved to South Port Square in Port Charlotte, Florida, to be closer to her family. There, she met LeRoy D. Sanders, whom she married on 23, 2012. She is survived by her husband LeRoy D. Sanders, her son Christopher J. (Nancy) Gover, a stepson, John E. (Evelyn) Sanders and numerous extended family members. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Alex M. Gover, and her brothers, Dr. Arthur P. Heiser and John D. Heiser. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM , 19, 2015, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Punta Gorda. A private committal and inurnment will be at a later date in Sumter, South Carolina. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that memorial donations be made to the Cultural of Charlotte , Inc., 2280 Aaron Street, Port Charlotte, FL 33952. are by Roberson s & Crematory, Punta Gorda Chapel. |
