Obituary: Dorothy Jean Samuels was born on 30, 1923 in Iola, KS, to her parents Lyle and Etta (McFarland) Warner. She passed away at the age of 92 in Fort Myers, FL. Dorothy is survived by her children Jeannie Summers, Jim Buck, David Buck, and Russell Buck; step-children Suzanna (Robert) Clymer, Martha Samuels, and Robert (Gail) Samuels; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Dorothy is preceded in death by her late husbands Millard Buck and Sherwood Samuels, her parents, her brother Robert Warner, and her son-in-law Bob Summers. Dorothy studied piano and vocal music at the of Emporia, Kansas. Dorothys passions in her life were her family and her music. She was an extraordinary pianist and loved to sing with the symphony choir as well as her church choir. She directed childrens choirs and participated in handbell choirs in her home church in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and was a leader in the Musical Research Society and Community Concert Association of Bartlesville. She joined the Cape Coral United Methodist church after moving to Cape Coral in 1989 and was active in choir and handbell choir there. She was also proud to have been a member of Chapter FD of PEO, a philanthropic organization which provides scholarships to women. She has lived at Barkley Place, Fort Myers, since 2010. We will celebrate Dorothys life at a Memorial Service at Cape Coral United Methodist Church on 16, 2016, at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to a charity of your choice in memory of Dorothy. Obituary: HADLEY, Jr., Samuel Percy, age 96, of West Palm Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully with the assistance of his family, caregivers and Hospice on , 6, 2017. Samuel was born on 2, 1920 in West Palm Beach where he lived his entire life. He was predeceased by his wife, Nancy Weaver Hadley, his brother Hyatt Ward Hadley (Mary) and sister, Lillian Hadley Hall (Jerry). He is survived by his daughters, Holly Weaver Hadley (Bruce Crawford) of North Palm Beach and Heather Hadley Luttier (Mark), and two grandsons, Thomas Tucker Luttier and Samuel Patrick Luttier all of West Palm Beach. He is also survived by his sister, Jane Hadley Caruso, nieces Suzanne Caruso Crawford, Annette Caruso Dowell, and Barbara Denise Hadley Glover, nephews Rick Caruso and Hyatt Trevor Hadley of West Palm Beach and Jerry Hall of Miami. Samuel was the son of Anna Fremd Hadley and Samuel Percy Hadley. He spent much of his youth at his maternal grandfather, William Fremds home formerly standing at the corner of Coconut Row and Royal Poinciana Way in Palm Beach. His grandfather was a long time friend of Henry M. Flagler and was Flaglers head of horticultural for the grounds of his Breakers, Whitehall and Poinciana Hotels. Fremd served as a Palm Beach Town Councilman (Emeritus) between 1924-1941. Samuel graduated from Palm Beach High School and up until his death met the old guard gang for lunch every at the Gun Club Cafe. As a young man, he was a skilled catcher for the local American Legion baseball team at Connie Mack field and served in the Army during WWII. Samuel was employed by the Town of Palm Beach during the years 1969-85, as Superintendent of Public Works under town manager, Robert Frost. He was very dedicated to Frost and the Town residents and enjoyed working with the many employees who worked hard to keep the Towns streets clean and stately. His retirement years were filled with many rounds of golf and hours in his workshop creating beautiful and unique stained glass pieces to give to his family, friends and Holy Trinity Episcopal Churchs gift shop. His legacy of humor, patience and kindness, and not to mention wicked handshake, will be remembered by all who knew him. His daughters would like to thank his devoted caregivers, Tim Little and Vinny DePalma, and care manager, Melissa Holmes, who together brought comfort and happiness to his last year of life. would also like to thank the Trustbridge Hospice staff who facilitated his peaceful passing. His cremains will be interred alongside his wife at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, West Palm Beach. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial gift to Holy Trinity or Trustbridge Hospice. Memorial services will be 10:00 AM , 20, 2017 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 211 Trinity Place, West Palm Beach, FL, followed by a reception in the church parish hall. |
