Obituary: Mary Lou Ruberg Mary Lou Ruberg, age 66, of Clinton, CT passed away surrounded by her family on 4, 2015. The Beloved wife of Alanson Ruberg. She was born on 11, 1948 to the late Mitchell and Marion Bearsto Fennell. Mary Lou moved to Clinton, CT in 1988. She spent a big part of her life as an accountant to local area businesses. She was a member of the Power and Sailing Boating Organization of Old Saybrook, where she was involved in teaching. Mary Lou and Alanson loved boating and belonged to the Hamburg Cove Yacht Club, and a beloved parishioner of St Mary of Clinton. Her biggest accomplishment was to be a stay at home mom to her three children. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be missed by all the people she loved. She was a friend to all, especially the neighborhood children. Besides her husband of 38 years, she is survived by her three children, Kyle Ruberg and his wife Terri of Clinton, CT, Robert Ball and his wife Lisa of Stamford, CT, and Kimberly Mirande and her husband Tom of Dover, NY. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Zoe, Kaylin, Tanner, Liam, Tyler, Matthew, Christopher, and Brian. She was predeceased by a brother, Mitchell Fennell, and her daughter Katrina Ruberg. Family and friends may visit the Swan , 80 East Main Street, Clinton, CT on , 17, 2015, for visitation between 12-1 with Memorial services starting at 1 pm. Flower donations appreciated though, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made through the Clinton Youth and Family Services Bureau, 48 East Main Street, Clinton, CT, 06413. Predeceased by BENNETT RUBENSTEIN, beloved husband of 57 years, parents HARRY WEISHAUS and LENA RAND WEISHAUS, and brothers SAMUEL WEISHAUS and URIAN WEISHAUS. Survived by her devoted children CAROL MARTIN and spouse PETER MARTIN, of Seattle, WA, JANET LUKE and spouse RICHARD LUKE of Los Angeles, CA, ARLENE RUBENSTEIN of Seattle, WA, and LEILA RUBENSTEIN of North Haven, CT; beloved grandchildren MEGAN LUKE-GRUNDY and spouse TIMOTHY GRUNDY of Los Angeles, CA, JULIA LUKE of Los Angeles, CA, and ANNA RUBENSTEIN of Seattle, WA. Barbara "Bert" Weishaus Rubenstein was born 3, 1920 in New York City. She had a happy childhood growing up with her parents and brothers in the Bronx. Upon graduation from high school and business college she became secretary to her future father-in-law at the Rubenstein family business of Security Mills in New York City. There she met young Bennett Bud Rubenstein. were married 9, 1943 while he was on active leave during World War II. the War in 1946 the couple moved to the township of Norwich, Connecticut, where Bennett took over operations at the Yantic Woolen Mills factory, a satellite of Security Mills. There they lived for 40 years, raised their four daughters and joined the Beth Jacob Synagogue, where they were active members of that Jewish community. Barbara was president of the sisterhood, for which the couple worked as a fundraising team putting on successful musical shows. In later years they worked together as co-owners and realtors of the Rubenstein Realty . In 1986 the Rubensteins retired to Oronoque Village community in Stratford CT, to be in close proximity to their youngest daughter Leila, who resides at Benhaven, a school for autism in North Haven. built close working relationships with the staff, and provided funds for a building on the campus. Bud passed away in 2000. In honor of his love of music, Barbara and her daughters donated Buds vast collection of jazz, swing, Broadway and classical records to the Trinity Watkinson Library in Hartford, CT in 2013. By that time Barbara had moved to The Watermark retirement community in Bridgeport, CT, where she enjoyed and excelled in her bridge game with good friends. Barbara will be missed by her family, friends and all who knew her. A private graveside service will be held , May 12 at the Hebrew Benevolent Association in Preston, CT.
