Obituary: Francisco Soriano Roxas (1930 ~ 2014) also known as Isco or Frank was born to Adriano Roxas and Melchora Soriano on 08, 1930 in Abucay, Bataan, Philippines. He was the eldest of six children who were Benito Roxas, Lita Baluyot, Rosie Palmera, Pacquito Roxas and Cena Ramos. He led a simple life in Wawa, Abucay by the sea where he fished and sailed with his family. A vivid childhood story from him is when a typhoon flooded their village and water levels became so high they were boating and fishing inside his actual house and in the streets. graduating high school Frank joined the US Navy in 1954 where he led an outstanding career as a Store Keeper 1st Class with the following awards: Good Conduct Fifth Award; Vietnam Service Medal/Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal Device; National Defense Service Medal and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. During his tenure in the Navy, Frank met Orlando Villanueva (Tito Orly) who is married to Belinda Villanueva (Tita Bellie) and while visiting their home and looking at their family photo albums, Frank saw a picture of Belindas sister Annabella Reyes (Bella) and was mesmerized by her beauty and asked for her contact information. became pen pals for about two years and when Frank went home to the Philippines in 1968 he proposed to Bella. Frank and Bella got married on 25, 1969 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Quezon City, Philippines. Frank and Bella had a wonderful marriage of almost 45 years and are blessed with 6 children between them who are Annalynn (Lynn-Lynn), Annaliza (Apple), Annamira (Imee), Debbie Ann (Peachy Boy) who were born in the United States and Franklin (Kiko) and Jeffrey (Bunsoy) who were born in the Philippines. 21+ years of service, Frank retired from the Navy and in 1975 he decided to move back to the Philippines with his family to live in Villa Verde s, Novaliches, Quezon City. There he continued his studies and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Husbandry in 1981. He also appreciated the fruits of his retirement by enjoying his hobbies of cock fighting, raising farm animals, playing volleyball with his village buddies, poker, bowling and following his favorite basketball teams and boxing matches. In 1989 and 1990, when Franks daughters Apple and Imee left the Philippines to complete their studies in the United States, Frank missed the completeness of his family and decided to head back to the United States bringing the rest of his family back together again in 1991. With his family together again and living in Spring Valley, CA, Frank began working as a Security Guard at Mt. Miguel Convalescent for 2 years and eventually, Frank and Bella purchased their final home and settled in Chula Vista, CA where they can stay close with the family. Surprisingly in 1995, Franks first daughter, Rosie Kopanski (who was born in a prior relationship to Bella) and had not known of her real father until her teen years, found Frank. were reunited and Rosie was welcomed to the Roxas Family with open arms. Frank had a total of 7 children. Frank was a family man throughout and he cherished the many family trips such as Sibol Bataan, Lido Beach, Bicol, Baguio, Cabo San Lucas, Palm Springs and Las Vegas. He also enjoyed staying home cooking his famous chicken barbecue, playing card games like poker, pusoy dos and trump with the whole family, and not to forget, he loves keeping his front and side yards well groomed with his green thumb in gardening. Frank was also quite a dancer and we can forget his dance moves to boogie, swing and cha-cha. Finally, Frank was a sharp dresser too - everybody thought he resembled the famous Filipino actors Leopoldo Salcedo and Eddie Garcia. During his final months with us, Frank was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2014 and his battle ended when he passed away two months after. Although he was taken so soon he did not suffer much. God is good. Frank passed away comfortably and peacefully. He was able to spend his last days with his family in his own home. able to still comprehend and managed to let his final wishes known to his family. Truly a blessing! On the morning of that day Frank told his daughter, Apple, that he had a ship to catch and he didn want to be late. Frank being a sailor from beginning to end caught his last ship home and sailed away on 28th, 2014. Frank led an amazing and blessed life with a broad range of accomplishments including an exemplary career in the US Navy and being the foundation of his family. Obituary: Our lives are like a musical composition- the notes are the people, places, events and memories that we have experienced throughout the years. In this song of life, Corazon Ballesteros Roxas was surely the composer. A very observant woman who would rather spend her time creating than talking, Corazon preferred to live in a world of harmony where everything around her made sense. A free spirit, Corazon also believed that actions spoke for themselves. She seemed to know what fit and what didn fit in everything she would do. Corazon seemed to live with a definite sense of purpose, but she perceived that all of lifes possibilities were open to her at any given time. She was a woman who was always ready to share her creativity with those around her. From early on in her life, Corazon had a flair for the creative. She was born on 2, 1919. She first greeted the world in Vintar, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. Her parents were Juan Ballesteros and Paula Ibana. She was raised in the Philippines. She used her imagination in most things she did while growing up. As a young child, Corazon was optimistic in her outlook. She sought out the possibilities in a given situation and looked for ways to apply her creative energies. She was the type of person who rarely called attention to herself, but would rather let her creative output speak for itself. However, when she did speak out, her message was clearly understood by those around her. As she was growing up, Corazon developed into a person who enjoyed hands-on activities, whether it was drawing pictures, building model kits, or even just tapping out a rhythm to play by. In her spare time she loved to sew. Her creative side came to the surface quite often as a child. Those who didn know Corazon well might not have viewed her as being an outgoing person, but those who called her their friend knew differently. She would truly open up and show her good humor with her close friends. A person who was sensitive to others feelings, Corazon had the ability to become completely devoted to another soul when that affection was returned. This was very true when she met Silvestre Roxas. She exchanged wedding vows with Silvestre in the Philippines. As their family got started, Corazon felt her affection growing for Silvestre. Being together, no matter where, was for her, the very best thing she could imagine. Corazon was exceptionally sympathetic and compassionate when it came to her children. These emotional bonds made her as much of a playmate as parent. She gave her family unconditional love and kindness, sharing her artistic nature by turning everyday events into creative playtime. She had three children, two boys, Rommy and Temie-Boy, and one daughter, LuLu. It wasn uncommon for her to find herself brimming with pride and joy over her childrens accomplishments. Later on in her life, Corazon was blessed with nine grandchildren, Victoria, Gino, Magelli, Rosanne, Reason, Rochelle, Rome, Melanie and Melissa. Corazon was always able to find the best in other people. This was particularly true with her friends. Later in life, she became friends with Leonida Guttierez and Nenet De Guzman. Corazon was a woman who took great pride in upholding her beliefs. She took an active role in her community because of her convictions. She was able to serve her community well, thanks to her open mind and faithful commitment. Throughout her life, Corazon was a doer and was always actively involved in professional and community organizations. Since she had a tendency to bring peace to her relationships, she was seen as a valued member of any organization. Because she loved the world around her, Corazon enjoyed traveling and going away on vacations. It was an opportunity for her to relax, to visit new places and experience new things. She tried to personalize just about all of the planning that she put into the familys trips. Corazon was a lover of animals, and she displayed that love by sharing her home with her dog, Fifi. were best friends for 15 years. Her family was rounded out by her other dog, Sasha. Corazon Roxas left us on 23, 2011. She passed away at Regional Medical in San Jose, California. She was 92 years old. The cause of death was Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). She is survived by her children Rommy, Temie-Boy, and LuLu; and her grandchildren Victoria, Gino, Magelli, Rosanne, Reason, Rochelle, Rome, Melanie, and Melissa. Services were handled by Oak Hill in the Chapel of Roses in San Jose, California. Corazon was laid to rest at Oak Hill Memorial Park in San Jose, California. This is where the song of life has taken Corazon Ballesteros Roxas. She was a kind and good woman who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being warm and deeply caring. She conducted her life with a unique rhythm and harmony all her own. She leaves behind her a treasury of lifelong friendships and wonderful memories. Corazon always had much to give and was able to make those connections in her life where her gifts were appreciated. Corazon was a faithful, practical and loving person. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Corazon Ballesteros Roxas with a kind thought and a warm heart. |
