Obituary: Evelyn Reva Reininga, age 87 and a longtime resident of Santa Clarita, CA passed away on , 21, 2015. She was born in Charles City, Iowa on 1, 1928 to Guy and Eulalia (Burnell) Fay. She married Herman Reininga on 11, 1947 in Waterloo, Iowa. In the early 50s Evelyn and Herman moved to California. In the mid-80s they moved to Acton, CA where they built their almost-a-ranch home. were married 52 years until his passing in 1999. Evelyn then relocated back to Santa Clarita where she lived with her son, Paul, and daughter-in-law,Cindy, and their 3 children. Evelyn worked as a collector for Lockheed Federal Credit Union. She and Herman enjoyed volunteering their time as officials with The Athletic Congress (TAC) Track & Field officiating at college track meets, the 1984 Olympics, and traveling to several different locations to attend annual conferences. She also enjoyed being a member of the XYZ Club at Grace Baptist Church and visiting those too ill to attend church. Her friends and family will truly miss her. She is survived by her children: Pat and her husband Bill of Saugus, CA, Paul and his wife Cindy of Santa Clarita, CA , John of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA and Herman and his wife Diane of Des Moines, Iowa. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren: Jeff, Alison, Greg, Christine, Dawn, Nancy, Bill, Brad, Kristin, Kayte, Matt, Ryan, Kyle and Nicole and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Herman, a retired inspector with Lockheed and her daughter Alice (Ali) Schlicher. services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on , 7th at Chapel of the Oaks at Eternal Valley Memorial Park Mortuary, 23287 N. Obituary: Edith passed away peacefully surrounded by members of her family on 24, 2011, at the age of 94. Mom was born on May 25, 1917, in Eureka, CA. She was the fifth of nine children born to Louis and Bessie Finley. She grew up in an active and loving family, and maintained a close relationship with her siblings and their families throughout her life. She attended local schools and graduated from Eureka High School in 1935, where she was a member of the girls basketball team. high school, she attended a business college in the San Francisco Bay Area. Mom was introduced to Art Reinholtsen by her brother Earl. were married in 1940, and were married for 70 years. Early in her life, she worked in the office at the Rock-N-R Meat . She eventually "retired" to be a full-time homemaker. Later, when Eureka City Schools opened Zane Junior High School and Winship Junior High School, she was one of the neighborhood mothers who went to work for the schools on a part-time basis. She retired from Eureka City Schools in 1982. Mom was very involved in our lives and instilled in us a work ethic and sense of commitment to give our best effort in every task we undertook. Mom and Dad were adamant that we were going to college and she did everything she could to make sure we did, ranging from helping us with our homework, to assisting us on our paper routes and everything in between. She also participated in the community. She was a member and past president of the Grant Elementary PTA; a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church; and, volunteered for charities, such as the American Cancer Society . One of her greatest joys was her grandchildren, Katie and Paige. She was known to comment that as long as she had her health and her granddaughters, she had all that she needed in life. Mom was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Bessie Finley, and her siblings Fred, Percy, Irva ("Sis"), Jack, Earl, Vivian and Sam. She is survived by her sons Dale and Dennis, her daughter-in-law Jeannette, her granddaughters Katie and Paige, her sister Louise and numerous nieces and nephews. She was briefly survived by her husband Art. She also leaves behind her good friend and neighbor for 60 years Ramona Jones. services are under the direction of Pierce Mortuary,707 H Street, Eureka, CA. Obituary: Art passed away on 27, 2011, at the age of 93. He was one of three children born to Ernest and Hilda Reinholtsen. The family moved to Eureka, CA in 1930. Art graduated from Eureka High School in 1935. Dads early work years were spent working in the timber industry alongside his father. In 1936, he began working for the Northwestern Pacific Railroad. He married Edith Finley in 1940 and they were married for 70 years. Like many of the men of that generation, he was drafted into the Army in 1943. He served as a medic in the South Pacific during World War II. He was assigned to an Army Division, which was preparing to invade Japan at the time the United States bombed Hiroshima. Thereafter, he was a member of an Army division which occupied Japan. When he returned from the War, he renewed his employment with the Northwestern Pacific Railroad. He worked for the Railroad for over 46 years, and retired as the local agent in 1983. Weather permitting, he often walked to and from work. Dad was involved in our lives, emphasized the importance of obtaining a college education and encouraged our academic pursuits. One of Dads greatest pleasures in life was sports, and in particular, coaching baseball. He was an original Giants fan. He coached in the Eureka Little League and Eureka Babe Ruth League for over 30 years. He served on the Board of Directors of the Eureka Babe Ruth League and the American Legion Baseball team for many years. He spent countless hours over the years working at the Babe Ruth Park. He also enjoyed following his granddaughters, Katie and Paige, as they participated in various sporting activities over the years. Dad was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Hilda, and his brother Arnold and his sister Erma. He lost his wife, Edie, three days before he passed. He is survived by his sons Dale and Dennis, his daughter-in-law Jeannette, his granddaughters Katie and Paige, and numerous nieces and nephews. services are under the direction of Pierce Mortuary, 707 H Street, Eureka, CA.
