Obituary: Mr. Domingo B. Ramirez Sr. was a modest man, quiet and observant in his ways. He was trustworthy and traditional in his approach to his life and in his relationships. He was tough-minded with the kind of stick to it attitude that earned the respect of all who knew him. He was also a man who was meticulous, carefully disciplined, and orderly in virtually everything he undertook. Realistic about life, he was always at the ready, prepared to take on responsibility. He was the son of Rafael and Josefina Ramirez. Domingo was born in Phoenix, Arizona, and grew up in Mexico. Domingo was raised with thirteen siblings named, Rebeca, Isaac, Nohemi, Dahlila, Joel, Orpha, Ruben, Maria Dolores, Jose, Marco Antonio, Josefina, Rafael, and Daniel. Domingo was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his siblings. He and his siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years. As a young boy, Domingo had a number of interests. Like most children, he enjoyed playing and making up games. He was curious about the world around him and was often eager to explore it. Domingo was an active child who took part in baseball. However, to Domingo, the most fun to be had was simply playing and spending time with his friends. Always considered a good friend to those he knew, Domingo enjoyed a broad group of acquaintances and several very close friends during his lifetime. Later in life, he became friends with Ethalina Bojorquez, his companion for over 20 years. On 25, 1958 Domingo exchanged wedding vows with Baudelia Marquez at Park Wedding Chapel of Reno, Nevada, followed by a religeous ceremony at the Star of the Sea Church in Alviso, California. Empathic and loyal, Domingo was committed to making his new family happy. Domingo worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs. Domingo was blessed with five children, one daughter, Sandra, and four sons, Domingo Jr., Ernest, Arck, and Eugenio. Another blessing for Domingo was the gift of eight grandchildren, Nicole, , Ernest Jr., Tara, Adam, Amanda, Arck Jr., and Jacob. Fortunately, Domingo enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Domingo worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. His primary occupation was as a construction laborer. He was employed for years by Rosendin Electric Co, and worked there until his retirement in 1990. Domingo enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. His favorite pursuits were playing billiards. He was content to enjoy his favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share his interests with others. Domingo found pleasure in sports and was also something of a sports fan and enjoyed following his favorite events whenever he had the chance to do so. Tops on his list were baseball. Domingos faith was important to him, he was a member of the Christian Community Church. Domingo enjoyed traveling and time away on vacations. It was a chance for him to renew and relax, to visit new places and experience new things. Favorite vacations included traveling throughout Mexico. Domingo was also a lover of animals and cherished his pets. His family was rounded out by his two Chihuahuas, Giringis and Bullet. When Domingos retirement finally arrived in 1990, he was well prepared. In retirement, he found new pleasure in traveling and visiting senior centers. Even in retirement, Domingo continued to stay in touch with his old friends while making plenty of new acquaintances. Domingo was active in his new community and felt fulfilled with the opportunities retirement offered him. Domingo passed away on 13, 2009 at home in San Jose, California. Domingo fought a brave battle against cancer for 3 1/2 years. He is survived by his children, Sandra, Domingo Jr., Ernest, Arck, and Eugenio; his grandchildren, Nicole, , Ernest Jr., Tara, Arck Jr., Jacob, Adam, and Amanda; and his various brothers and sisters. Services were held at Oak Hill in the Chapel of the Oaks. Domingo was laid to rest in Oak Hill Memorial Park in San Jose, California. Simply stated, Domingo was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Domingo leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Mr. Domingo B. Ramirez Sr. |
