Obituary: Remmers, Oliver Wayne (Age 92) Bud Remmers passed away 26, 2011 after a full and rich life. He was born on 30, 1918 in Espanola, WA to Oliver E. and Gertrude R. (Hansen) Remmers. Graduating from Reardan High School in 1935, he worked on the family farm and held other jobs before being drafted into the Army in 1941. He served on both the Pacific and European fronts, being part of the Battle of the Bulge. Bud and Lorene (Rufer) married 8, 1946 and returned to take over the family farm and dairy. He helped form Edwall Chemical Corp., served on the Reardan School Board, was a 70 year member of Spring Hill Grange, belonged to WAWG, American Legion and the VFW. Bud and Lorene have two daughters, Buddi Williams and Lorri Williams (Paul), two grandchildren, Rick Williams (Sally), Traci Magers (Mark) and six great-grandchildren, Savanah Reagle, Jasmine & Lacey Williams, Evan, Jessica, and Carlee Magers. Besides these, he is survived by a sister, Eileen Clouse, two sisters-in-law, Rosina Fairbanks and Irene Rufer, and numerous nieces and nephews. services will be held at 2pm 2, 2011 at Ball & Dodd , 5100 W. Wellesley Ave. Spokane WA. Interment will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park. Visitation will be 1st, from 2pm until 8pm at Ball & Dodd. Memorial contributions may be made to: Hospice of Spokane, P.O. Obituary: Lorene Ellen (Rufer) Remmers Age 101 Lorene was born 3, 1915 at Pine City, WA, being the 3rd of 4 children to Flora (Wright) Rufer and Jacob Rufer. Her early years were spent in a logging camp near Hillsburo, Ore. Her father was killed in a logging accident when she was 11; early in life the lessons of hard work were taught. She attended high school in Scapoose for three years, then graduated from Silverton, Ore. in 1932. She lived with her Aunt Ardo while attending Eastern Washington of Education, graduating in 1935. Lorene started her teaching career in a one-room school house, Whitman School (Pine Grove), then Logan in the Espanola area, Clarkston, then Seattle during WWII. 8, 1946 she and O. Wayne Remmers married and started farming and dairying on the family farm. She worked alongside Bud, driving CAT, driving truck during harvest, and milking cows. While her girls were in school, she transported them to swimming lessons, School, and supported all school activities at Reardan. She was active in PTA, a 75 year member of Spring Hill Grange, and a member of WAWG. 35 winters were spent traveling to warmer parts of the country, which usually found them fishing for stripers or tuna. turning over the farming to their son-in-law, she found more time for oil-painting, painting many beautiful pictures, and crocheting dozens of afghans for Wishing Star. issues prompted them to move to town in 2010. Bud passed in 2011 after celebrating 63 years of marriage. Lorene was also preceded in death by siblings Jacob M Rufer, Rosina Fairbanks, and Irene Rufer. She is survived by daughters Buddi Williams and Lorri Williams (Paul), Grandchildren Ricky Williams (Sally), and Traci Magers (Mark), and Great-grandchildren Savanah Reagle, Jasmine Drapeau (Aaron), Lacey Williams, Evan Magers, Jessica Richardson (Josh), and Carlee Magers. There will be a private burial at Fairmont Memorial Park. The Celebration of Life service will be held at 2pm, , Feb. 26, 2017 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Reardan. Memorials can be made to the Union Gospel Mission, PO Box 4066, Spokane, Wa. 99202, or a charity of your choice. |
