Obituary: PATRICIA GALE (WYMAN) REILLY 6, 1938 – 9, 2016 On , 9th, 2016 at 12:30 a.m., after over 60 years of marriage and 11 years battling cancer, Patricia beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother has left us for a better place. She has gone home to her final resting place with God and she will see our relatives and friends who have gone before her. She was loved so much and will be missed so very much. Patricia Gale Wyman, the youngest child of Richard Earl and Grace Elizabeth Hampson Wyman, was born on 6, 1938 in Fillmore, California, joining her brother Richard (Dick) and her sisters Irene and Jane. Her family moved from Fillmore, California to Pleasant Hill, Oregon where her father was a wheat farmer. When the government paid the farmers to quit growing wheat the family sold the Pleasant Hill farm and moved to Seattle where her father began working at Boeing. Pat attended first grade at Holy Rosary School in West Seattle. Richards job moved the family to Eugene, Oregon where Patricia attended St. Marys School from second grade. In the middle of her seventh grade year the family moved back to Seattle where Pat attended Holy Family School in White through the eighth grade. It was during her Highline High School years that she was working at Coys Theatre on 16th and Roxbury in White when she would begin dating John Stanton Reilly upon his return from Fort Ord after completion of his US Army basic training. were married on 8, 1955 at Holy Family Church in White . In 1961 they purchased a home in West Seattle. A complete home remodeling project mostly done by Pat & John provided a comfortable home in which they raised their five children – Michelle, Mike, Molly, Mark and Marty and created many fond memories. Many memorable family events, birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, vacations, gatherings and a wedding, were planned around the kitchen table that hung from the ceiling and was surrounded by a booth. John wanted to eliminate as many legs as possible since the family already had 14! The downstairs rec room provided many opportunities for entertainment for and by the kids as well as the adults! Pat worked for High Point Pharmacy and Sheppards Drugs in West Seattle before becoming a Systems Analyst for Boeing, from which she retired in 1994 after 20 years. In the mid-1970s, Pat & John purchased a couple lots at Scott Lake in Olympia. Many weekends and holidays were spent there camping with the trailer, golfing, fishing, boating and swimming while making many new, life-long friends. Shortly after retirement, the house they were building was completed. enjoyed living on the 8th tee and in the community that they had grown so fond of. Pat was a member of the Scott Lake Ladies Golf Club, Scott Lake Garden Club and Scott Lake HERS Club. She was also very active in the Northwest Spinal Cord Society. She was always volunteering for something and loved to help others without being asked. She loved to spend time with her family, sew, quilt, and do crafts of any kind including, painting, stitchery and art projects. She enjoyed home decorating and gardening. She loved to golf, swim, camp, RV and travel. She loved to entertain and plan parties, attend costume parties, tap dance, attend local theater and musical productions, spend time at the ocean and just plain lay in the sun or by the pool. In their retirement winters Pat and John would become snowbirds driving the RV south spending 15 seasons in El Centro, California and the last few seasons in Gold Canyon and Mesa, Arizona. traveled to many destinations in the RV including Alaska, touring around the United States (they visited 47 of our 50 states!), Texas, Branson, Missouri, Canada, and many sights in Oregon and Washington. went on cruises to the Caribbean, Alaska, Grand Cayman Islands and the Panama Canal. Other trips included Cook Islands, Tahiti, Rarotonga Island, Hawaii, and Disneyland. In 2005, Patricia was diagnosed with CLL, Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. Although at first it was a watch and wait plan, she would need treatment sooner than expected. She was a real trooper going through the various treatments and procedures through the years that would follow. She would even visit doctors and treatment centers during some of their travels while wintering in the sun. In 2011, as options were becoming scarcer, her family made contact with Seattle Cancer Alliance (SCCA). She participated in two different trials, the most recent began last fall and continued until just days prior to her death. Between these two trials, she was also able to participate in a recently approved (at that time) treatment by the FDA. All three of these options provided her with more life to live. Although it was bittersweet to be on a trial in the first place, she was proud to have been a part of a future solution to help cure CLL. She loved her many pets throughout the years, currently, their beloved shorkie, Archie. He brought much joy to her. She is survived by her loving family, husband, John (Olympia), daughter Michelle and her husband Carl (Bellevue), sons, Michael (Vancouver), Mark, and his wife, Sandy (Battleground), and Marty (Normandy Park), her 7 grandchildren Ryan and his wife, Megan (Lynnwood), Kendall (Kirkland), Kelsey and her husband Marshall (Hailey, Idaho), Steven (Vancouver), Tucker (Vancouver), Andy (Seattle) and Chris (Seattle), great-grandson, Deacan (Lynnwood), brother, Dick (Medina), and 15 nieces and nephews in Washington and Oregon. Pat is pre-deceased by her daughter Molly, her parents, Richard Earl and Grace Elizabeth, and her sisters Irene and Jane. We wish to thank the many family members and friends that helped us and gave us so much care, love and support throughout this journey. • Many thanks to Providence Regional Cancer System, Lacey Clinic, especially o Dr. Paul Robertson, Pats oncologist of 11 years, throughout her disease. o The nurses in the infusion center for their compassion continued... |
