Obituary: Robert Reed Bob died peacefully at home evening, 17, 2015, in the presence of loved ones. He was born 24, 1922 to Fred and Margaret (Cooper) Reed and raised in Yakima. The Reed family worked the fruit orchards on land his family had homesteaded. He had two sisters, Marilyn and Dorothy (both deceased). Bob graduated from Yakima High School in 1940 and embarked on a post-secondary education which began at Perry Trade and culminated at WSU. His educational journey was interrupted by World War ll when he enlisted in the Marines, and by his marriage to Jean Picatti on Dec. 31, 1949. began a fruit processing business with his brother-in-law, and started a family with the addition of three children. Bob moved his family to Pullman, completed his college degree in 1961, and returned with his family to Yakima. A fourth child joined them in 1966. Bobs career path took a variety of directions; orchardist, cannery owner and operator, apple packing plant owner and operator, stock broker, and investment advisor. His voice could be heard on Radio KIT, giving the noon stock report. A dedicated member of the Rotary Club since 1953, Bob served one year as president. He was also active with the Shriners and other religious and civic organizations. An active life-long member of First Presbyterian Church, Bob sang in the choir, supported Young Life and the other youth programs, and served as usher and elder. Bob and Jean enjoyed bridge club, camping adventures, traveling to jazz festivals, visiting their extended family and friends, and supporting their kids with their many activities. Bobs stewardship of the land and willingness to help family and friends has left a living legacy. Bob is survived by his wife Jean, his children Bob (Cindy) Reed, Becky (John) Stokes, Connie (Etienne) Constable, and Fred (Kim) Reed, and grandchildren Austy and Emory Reed, Reed and Daniela Stokes, Natalie Constable, and Jake, Alison and Sam Reed. A memorial service will be held at Grace of Christ Presbyterian Church (formerly First Presbyterian Church) on , 25, 2015 at 11:00.
