Obituary: Eunice Rapp, of Yakima, died 24, 2014 at the age of 104. Eunice was born on 13, 1910 in Mt. View Arkansas to Alexander and Edna Pearl Adrian. Eunice moved to the Yakima Valley in 1943, living in Toppenish and Yakima before becoming a long time resident of Moxee. In 2012 she moved to the Ponderosa Retirement where she lived until her passing. She worked at several fruit packing plants in the valley including Nordberg Warehouse where she was a sorter. Eunice was passionate about sewing and quilting and spent many hours creating clothes and quilts for her family and friends. She enjoyed going to the Carpenters Hall to watch the Old Time Fiddlers, even taking her great grandson Mike so that he could play the piano for the audience. In 1966 she married Richard "Dick" Rapp. Eunice is survived by her sons Rudolph Kelley (Gertrude) of Yakima, and E.R. Kelley (Louise) of Othello WA, Grandsons Steve Kelley (La Donna) of Spokane WA, Brian Kelley (Suzan) of Yakima , Jim Kelley (Stacy) of Tigard OR and Jack Kelley (Valerie) of Pasco, WA, as well as many Great Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren. Eunice also leaves many dear friends behind that cared about her and helped her during her advancing years, including her neighbor Roy. She is preceded in death by her husband Dick Rapp of Moxee, Granddaughter, Cynthia Kelley of Yakima, Great Grandson Brian William Kelley Jr. of Yakima, and William R. Kelley, her first husband. A Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. , 2nd , 2015 at Rainier Memorial in Terrace Heights. Followed by an Interment at Terrace Heights Memorial Park. Obituary: Moxee - Eric Michael Rapp, 41, passed into the loving arms of God, , 3, 2010, at home with his family by his side, after a courageous battle against cancer. Eric was born at Chanute Air Force Base Hospital in Rantoul, Illinois on 25, 1968 to Mike and Patty Rapp. As a member of a Navy family, he was an extremely active child with a special athletic ability in Little League baseball. As he grew, so did his love of music. He enjoyed playing the drums and keyboards, but excelled at the guitar. His talent flowed into an uncanny ability to write music and meaningful lyrics which mirrored how he was feeling about his life. He was successful as a guitar player in many rock bands throughout the east coast and south east. Eric had battled mental illness since his teens. Instead of succumbing to his illness, he devoted the rest of his adult life to educating himself and caring for individuals with mental health issues and other life challenges. He graduated from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia in 1994 with a Bachelors Degree in Education with an emphasis in Counseling. In 1999 he earned his Masters Degree (M.Ed.) in Counseling from Heritage University in Toppenish, Washington. He was a registered Counselor in the State of Washington and earned a certificate as a Chemical Dependency Professional in 2007. In 1990 Eric met and fell in love with Sue, his wife of 15 years. Eric and Sue moved from Chesapeake, Virginia to Yakima, Washington in 1998. Two years later they bought their farm in Moxee, Washington where they lived happily with their horses, cats & dogs. Eric had a wonderful sense of humor and love for his fellow man, not to mention a strong fondness for animals. He will be deeply missed by all who had the gift of knowing him. Eric was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Norman and Erma Rapp of Quincy, Illinois, and his maternal Grandparents Lance and Mary Kelly of Detroit, Michigan (and later Virginia Beach, Virginia). Eric is survived by his wife Susan (Drinkwater) of Moxee, Washington; parents Capt. Michael Rapp, JAGC USN, Ret. and Patricia Rapp of Virginia Beach, Virginia; brothers Chris and wife Bessie Rapp of Powhatan, Virginia and Tim and wife Eugenia Rapp of Woodbridge, Virginia; niece Giana Rapp and nephew Skyler Rapp of Woodbridge, Virginia; stepdaughter Meredyth and husband Matt Dinniman, and four step-grandchildren Zachary, Natasha, Lilia and Helena Dinniman of Tucson, Arizona. The family would like to send their heartfelt thanks to the EMTs who made countless trips to help them out in their time of need and to the "angels" of Hospice at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital who provided all the help and support anyone could askfor. Obituary: Nina Suzanne Rapisarda passed away after a brief illness on 1/1/2015 at the age of 58 surrounded by her family. Nina was born and raised in Evanston, IL. She moved to Yakima in 1986 after receiving her Masters degree in social work from Syracuse University. She is survived by her husband Steven Van Tassel, her daughter Sophie Van Tassel and her son Joseph Van Tassel, as well as her siblings Paul Rapisarda (Wendy), John Rapisarda (Julie), Luisa Rapisarda (Terry), along with 14 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Alice L. Rapisarda in 2010 and John G. Rapisarda in 2001. She was highly regarded in her field and spent her career working with children and families in the foster care system and with individuals who were in need of mental health services. Nina worked at Central Washington Comprehensive Mental FACES Program, from 1986 to 1993. In 1993 she was employed at Casey Family Programs until 2003; she returned to CWCMH from 2003 to 2013. In 2013 she again was employed at Casey Family Programs. Nina had a great love for her family, her friends and her many animals. She spent many hours taking care of her miniature donkey, horse and dogs. Nina had a beautiful voice and was a member of the Yakima Symphony Chorus from 1990 to 1995 and she was an active member of Temple Shalom in Yakima. Nina looked forward to the family trips to the Washington and Oregon coast and going to the mountains whether it was for mushroom hunting, firewood cutting, or camping. She truly had an adventurous spirit. Nina loved to dance and expressed herself by writing music. She loved challenges and worked well with folks from many ethnic and cultural backgrounds. She composed a song that became the anthem for the FACES treatment foster care program and then another such creation was for The Casey Family Program titled Seeing Each Other Through which was a culmination of youth sharing their voice in music. The intro to Seeing Each Other Through was written because of a challenge, given to Nina to come up with something that would capture the spirit of their total program; the logo was a rainbow with people helping each other over it. This song is really about all of us helping each other out, no matter what the circumstances, and the incredible, emotional and spiritual power that doing this created. She was an extraordinary, caring, kind, compassionate and loving individual with a great sense of humor who would laugh easily. Ninas warm smile and presence in our lives will be forever missed. A memorial service will be held 1/18/15 at the Arboretum at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ninas memory to the Michael J Fox Foundation, cancer research or any organization that supports animal rights and welfare. She was a bright STAR!
