Obituary: Services for Steve Robertson, 63, Piedmont will be , May 24, 2015 at 3 p.m. at Thompson with the Rev. Tom Moye officiating. Burial will follow at Piedmont Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1-3 pm at the funeral home. Mr. Robertson passed away , May 20, 2015 at his home. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Starla Dempsey Robertson of Piedmont; daughter, Erin Robertson Adderhold (Brad) of Spring Garden; one granddaughter, Ava Grayce Adderhold of Spring Garden ; one sister, Susan Robertson Suits (Todd) of Lafayette, Georgia; mother and father-in-law Jewell and Weldon Dempsey of Piedmont; two nephews Owen and Tanner Suits; and one niece Ashton Suits. Pallbearers will be George Cobb, Tim Brooks, Mo Spears, Wain Robbins, John Brewster, and Doyle Newton. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Piedmont Throttle Kings Car Club. Mr. Robertston was born in Anniston and had been a resident of Piedmont for the past 39 years. He retired from the Anniston Army Depot and was a school bus driver for Cherokee School System for 16 years. He was the owner and operator of Robertsons Boat Doc. He was a member and president for the past several years of the Piedmont Throttle Kings Car Club and was an avid antique car enthusiast and owner of a 1964 Ford Galaxie. He loved fishing, camping, and Auburn football. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter Ava Grayce. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Bettye Robertson. |

Obituary: NORTHPORT | Sarah I. Jean Robertson, age 84, of Northport, died 17, 2015. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. , 20, 2015, in Serenity Chapel Mausoleum with Rev. Bob Blackwell officiating and Sunset , A Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward D. Big ED Robertson; parents, John Thomas and Dora Caroline Moore; sister, Eva Butler (Ed) of Columbus, Miss.; brothers, Paul Jake Moore (Flora Mae) of Northport, Ala. and William Bill Moore (Barbara) of Northport, Ala. Survivors include her daughters, Dr. Donna R. King (Judge Julian M. King) of Lincoln, Ala.; brother, Rayburn Moore (Jean) of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; and grandchildren, Julian M. King Jr. (Christine Marsh King) of Mountain Brook, Ala. and John Edward King of Notasulga, Ala. Mrs. Robertsons life was devoted to her family and her friends, especially her two grandsons Jr and John who she loved with all her heart. She was a consummate politician campaigning for her husband Edward D. (Big Ed) Robertson as he served in the Alabama House of Representatives, Alabama Senate, and Mayor of Northport. Mrs. Robertson was ever present at the Alabama State Capital during her husbands legislative terms. She was just as comfortable exchanging political views with governors, legislators, and members of congress as she was with neighbors and friends. Her commitment to her strong religious beliefs were exemplified in her life. Limited mobility did not prevent Mrs. Robertson from reaching out every day in love and loyalty to those she loved. Mrs. Robertson was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves- especially when winning. Obituary: Ruth Cave Robertson, who was a champion for students and a quiet but unwavering force in the lives of countless others in the community, died at her home in Montevallo on , Dec 23, after a long illness. She was 70. Mrs. Robertson was a counselor for many years at Thompson High School in Alabaster, Ala., before that at Montevallo Elementary School and Montevallo Middle School. At all three schools, she was known for her unfaltering dedication to students: coming in to work early and leaving late, sending personal notes to students and teachers on birthdays and other special occasions, baking bread for fellow school employees and offering advice and comfort to those living through tough times, in some cases developing relationships that lasted for years after students left school. She volunteered as a tutor for those seeking high school equivalency degrees, played a key role in the establishment of an adult literacy program, delivered food as part of Meals on Wheels and was a vital presence at University Baptist Church, where she was a charter member. In some of the most neglected neighborhoods, the arrival of Mrs. Robertson was met by happy waves of welcome. For her soft-spoken but steadfast commitment to making lives better, she was named Alabama Elementary School Counselor of the Year in 1997 and Montevallo Citizen of the Year in 2011. Survivors include her beloved husband of 46 years, Ed; her daughter, Renee Corley, who lives in Atlanta; and son, Cam, who lives in New Orleans. She delighted in her grandchildren, joyfully spoiling her grandsons Finley, Campbell and Henry and celebrating her granddaughters Ruthie and Susannah. Her legacy survives as well in untold others who were inspired by her example of wisdom, compassion and grace. A funeral service will be held at 11am on , 30, 2015 at University Baptist Church in Montevallo, with visitation starting at the church at 9:30am. She will be laid to rest at Montevallo City . She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Albert Gordon and Pattie Malone Goodall, Sr.; sister-in-love Eunice Goodall, brother, Dr. Albert Gordon, Goodall and his first wife, Bebe Clark Goodall, sister-in-love Carol Goodall, niece Lori Goodall , sister-in-love Betty Robertson Gilmore. She is survived by her devoted husband Gordon Lee Robertson, Jr.; brother Dr. Harrison (Lorraine) Goodall, Sr., sister-in-love Carolyn Chapman Goodall; brother-in-love Daniel B. Gilmore, Jr.; her children, Pattie Lynn (Alex) Neese, Lee (Lucy) Robertson & Bruce (Beth) Robertson; her grandchildren, Taylor Cobb, Twila Robertson, Noel Robertson, Nicholas Neese, Ashleigh Neese, Bailey Robertson, Braydon Robertson; 14 nieces & nephews and numerous great-nieces & great-nephews. A native of Birmingham, AL, she had lived in Montgomery, AL since 1968. She graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1955 and received her Physical Therapist certification from the Medical of Virginia in 1956. She enjoyed helping others heal. She was an active member in her Churches, singing in the choir, playing hand bells and was highly involved in the Walk to Emmaus program. She enjoyed camping with her family in the Great Smokey Mountains National park and travelling with her husband in their Avion travel trailer for many years, seeing all the wonders of the United States. Spending time with her family, playing the piano, reading, planting flowers, playing cribbage and Pounce were among her favorite pastimes. A celebration of her life will be held on 28 at 2 pm at the Alabama Heritage , 10505 Atlanta Highway, Montgomery, AL. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the Alzheimers Association (www.alz.org) |
