Obituary: Elizabeth Jones Reilly, 69, a resident of Bridgewater passed away on , 2, 2015. She was born in Richmond on 9, 1945 and was the daughter of the late John R. Jones, Sr. and Frances Staley Jones. Elizabeth was a graduate of Turner Ashby High School and Strayer Business . She lived most of her life in the Bridgewater area. She was employed with Harman Construction until retiring in 2008. She was a member of Muhlenberg Lutheran Church and Myers-Hodges VFW. On 4, 1989 she married James V. Reilly, who survives. She is also survived by two daughters, Ann Sheppard of Deltaville, VA, and Teressa S. Bryan of Keyser, WV; a son, Christopher A. Parker of Harrisonburg; one step-daughter, Anne R. Sidari of Austin, TX; two step sons, Timothy P. Reilly of El Paso, TX and Joseph V. Reilly of Dunedin, FL; six grandchildren; four step grandchildren; one sister, Barbara J. Cable of Bridgewater; one brother, John R. Jones, Jr. of Phillipsburg, NJ; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm, , 8, 2015 at Muhlenberg Lutheran Church with Pastor Bob Humphrey and Pastor Brett Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Woodbine . Obituary: Eileen Moran Reilly (1916-2014), was born New York City, the beloved daughter of Susan and Francis Moran and beloved wife of J. Harry Reilly (deceased). She is survived by her children, Susan Moira, James Kevin, Ellen Deidre, Katharine Grania Thomas, son-in-law Charles Darald Thomas, and grandchildren Moira Katharine, Colin Idris, Owen Llewellyn, and Evan Galen Thomas. She received her B.A. in 1937, cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from Hunter where she belonged to Kappa Delta; and her M.A. in 1949 from Columbia University in English. She was a high school English teacher in the NYCPS at Central Commercial and Port Richmond High Schools. In retirement she taught literature courses using the short story to seniors through Brandeis University National Women's Committee and the Life-long Learning s National Council of Jewish Women. She gave lectures and poetry readings at the South Orange-Maplewood Adult School and other groups in Essex , NJ. She was a member of the Rosary Society and a Lector at Our Lady of Sorrows, South Orange, NJ, and a member of A Kempis. Eileen was a world traveler whose tours with her friends brought her to Europe, Russia, India, Nepal, Africa, China, South America, and Canada. Obituary: REILLY, Donald Fitzgerald, 92, passed peacefully 6, 2017 at Morningside of Bellgrade in Midlothian, Virginia. Don was born 1, 1924 in Philadelphia, PA, the youngest child of Charles William and Lenora Fitzgerald Reilly. He is survived by his wife of 48 years Jane Sublett Reilly, children James Reilly and wife Deborah, Margaret Molnar and husband Pete, Brad Walker and wife Joy, Patrick Reilly and wife Lynn, Jacqueline Stoneburner, Donald Reilly, Jr. and wife Victoria, daughter-in-law Kim Walker, 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Reilly was preceded in death by his first wife Nancy Reilly, oldest daughter Sharon Reilly and son Michael Walker. He spent his formative years in Harrisonburg where he developed a lifelong love with the Commonwealth of Virginia. He adored his older sister Dorothy Strauss and brother Charles William Reilly Jr., both of whom also predeceased him. He loved their families (now in New York City and Baltimore respectively), like his own. Don followed his Dads and brothers footsteps by attending Va. Tech in the ROTC program. He was in the Class of 1944 and graduated in 1946 after serving two years as a First Lieutenant in the Merchant Marines during World War II. During his time at Tech, he distinguished himself in athletics, earning letters in both Boxing and Track. He remained a competitor and ardent Hokie throughout his life. Upon graduating with a degree in Business Management, Don joined General Electric in Human Resources working in Pittsfield, MA, Baltimore, MD, Binghampton, Buffalo and Syracuse, NY before returning to Virginia. He was recruited by Dr. Dana Hamel, the first Chancellor of the Virginia Community System to organize and implement a workforce development program to support economic development in Virginia. He worked with over 3,000 new and expanding businesses in every area of the state and traveled the globe supporting major domestic, international and small businesses including Canon, Nabisco, Volvo Truck, Hills Brothers Coffee, Siemens, Printpack and GE as just a few examples. Don received awards throughout his career from Governors and various agencies and was most honored to be named a Cardinal by the Virginia Economic Developers Association. This reflected his work for six Governors supporting economic development throughout the Commonwealth for over 30 years. retirement in 1991, Don worked at the Virginia Chamber of Commerce expanding businesses voice in government. He was a progressive, passionate, team-oriented, manufacturing and HR professional. He was an optimist that believed in people and gave them a high reputation to live up to. He was exceptionally loyal to all those he was associated with. Don was instrumental in helping many get into the Virginia universities of their choice as well as assisting in career placement. He never met a stranger, loved people and was tenacious in using his contacts to help others. Don remained an athlete throughout his life with a special love for the game of tennis where he remained competitive well into his 80s. He loved supporting his childrens athletic pursuits as spectator, coach or administrator. You always knew who Don was cheering for - sometimes to the angst of the officials! The family will receive friends , 13, 2017 from 6-8PM at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody , 1020 Huguenot Road. A Mass will be Celebrated , 14 at 11:30AM at St. Edwards Catholic Church, 2700 Dolfield Rd. Interment Dale Memorial Park. The family will also receive friends prior to the service at St. Edwards beginning at 10:45AM. |

Obituary: Cynthia Louise Reilly quietly passed away following a brief illness on Dec. 28, 2014 at the Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. She was born Feb. 23, 1957 in Great Falls, MT to the late Thomas DeWolfe and Alma Myrtle Reilly. Cindy, as she was affectionately known by her friends, relocated and lived most of her life in Tidewater. She graduated from Bethel High School, in Hampton. Cindys work career lead her to serve in several positions, to include retail cashier at Newmarket North Mall, Wornoms Arts & Craft, and Farm Fresh. Seeking advancement, she was employed for a brief period at Old Dominion University as a Clerk-Typist. She was later employed by Thomas Nelson Community and Christopher Newport University as a Fiscal Assistant and Fiscal Technician. She returned to ODU with a distinguished career of 18 years in the Office of Student Financial Aid with her last assignment as a Student Financial Aid Counselor. Cindy who was fascinated with computers enrolled at the Tidewater Community to learn Micro-Soft Office especially Power-Point. She also received several certificates of completion and CPE credits in Higher Education training. She was a member of the Virginia Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (VASFAA). Cindy enjoyed traveling, Arts & Crafts, and sports. She used her crafts by assisting with decorating for many of the VASFAA conferences. Her favorite teams were the Dallas Cowboys, Norfolk Admirals, and the ODU Football team (Go Monarchs). Cindy truly loved God and she loved helping people, especially her students. She was a great friend and admired co-worker. She dearly loved and cared for her cat and companion, Charlotte and greatly missed her cat Mee-Two, after whom she named her car and other important things. She was preceded in death by a niece, Tina Louise Westhead.She leaves to cherish her memory, sister, Susan Westhead (Jim); niece, Barbara Lee; nephew, James Thomas; 5 great-nieces; 8 great-nephews all of NM; devoted friends, Cynthia White (Bubbles), Jackie Lemons, and Thomas & Michone Lane; her ODU Financial Aid family; and University colleagues.
