Obituary: Catherine J. Reeves passed away at home early morning, 27, 2016, at the age of 86. She was predeceased by her parents George and Sarah Johnson; her husband, Billy Edward Reeves; her son, Mark Edward Reeves; two of her brothers, James Lee Johnson and Earl Graves Johnson; and her dearest friend, Sarah Ann White. She is survived by her brother Bill Johnson (Janice "Ziggy"); her son, Gary Reeves (Kathy); her grandchildren, Janet Reeves Lewis (Jeremy), Eric Reeves, and Steven Reeves (Jill); her great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Justin Lewis; and her grand-dog, Gabby. She is fondly remembered for family lunches, Christmas Eve parties that were practically family reunions, and 4th of BBQ festivities with a great view of the Birmingham fireworks. Born Margaret Catherine Johnson, she grew up alongside three brothers. At the age of 13, Catherine was baptized at the 60th Street Church of Christ, where her grandfather James David Graves was one of the elders. Although she was a tomboy, she preferred living in the city, and pressed her parents to transfer her to Woodlawn High School, where she graduated. On Feb. 18, 1949, she married Bill Reeves. She attended Huffman Church of Christ for more than sixty years, and saved the congregation's first bulletin, dated Sept. 16, 1956 in her meticulous files. raised two wonderful sons, Mark and Gary, then she earned her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education at UAB where she was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa in 1969. She went on to earn her Master's degree in 1973 and AA in 1977. At the time of her retirement in 1990, she was teaching third grade at Alberta Shields School. Mrs. Reeves was also an honored friend of the Gamma chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma and a frequent guest at meetings. Services will be held at Ridout's Trussville chapel on , 30, 2016 with visitation at 1:30, followed by the funeral at 2:30. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. |

Obituary: service for Calvin Harry Reeves, Sr., 84, will be , 11, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Curtis and Son North Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Thornton officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial . Mr. Reeves died 8 at his residence. He was president of Sylacauga Little League and was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was president of the Sylacauga Shriners, and loved to fish and hunt and was an avid golfer. He loved his children and grandchildren very much. He joined the Navy at age 17, and was on teh first ship that sailed into Nagoya, Japan. He also served in Okinawa. He was preceded in death by parents, Harry and Elizabeth Reeves; his brother, Howard Reeves; and his sisters, Charlotte Wyatt and Joyce Kelly. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Watkins Reeves of Sylacauga. celebrated their anniversary 30th; two sons, Calvin "Vin" H. Reeves, Jr. (Candi) of Sylacauga and Michael Reeves (Lindsey) of Birmingham; two daughters, Michele Ryan (Mike) and Pam "Pandy" Richardson (Jerry) of Sylacauga; grandchildren, Wes McDanal (Laura), Chris McDanal, Chris Duke (Donna), Ryan Houston, Reagan Reeves, Shelby Reeves, Levi Reeves and Mari Hayden Reeves; and great-grandchildren, Maegen McDanal, Payton McDanal and Blair Dukes. Pallbearers will be Charles Duke, Ryan Houston, Keith Weldon, Chris Rogers, Reagan Reeves and Wes Watkins. Honorary pallbearers will be fellow golfers at Coosa Pines Golf Course. Obituary: Ben Irvin Reeves of Remlap, Alabama was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on 5, 2017 at the age of 61. He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Frances Reeves. Ben is survived by daughter Shannon Reeves Tyndall and son Jason Wayne Reeves; grandchildren Morgan Ashley Russo, Caroline Reese Tyndall and Andrew Griffin Tyndall; sisters Claire Reeves Higginbotham and Frances Reeves Hamm (Ronnie), a host of nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Ben was an electrician out of the IBEW Local 136 and enjoyed a period of self-employment in his later years. He was an avid antique and coin-collector. Although he was a private person, he enjoyed laughing and visiting with friends. A special thank you is expressed to Sam and Sandee McCord for their friendship.
