Obituary: Kathryn Anita Rogenes was born May 9, 1942 at Bethesda Hospital, Crookston, MN to Grace Broderson Rogenes and Oscar Rogenes. She passed away, , 7, 2012, in San Antonio. Kathy grew up on the family farm near Buxton, ND. She attended Belmont #2 rural school, Climax High School, Climax MN, and the University of North Dakota at Grand Forks, ND, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in . graduation, she worked as a staff nurse at the Northwood, ND, Deaconess Hospital and the Lancaster, CA Community Hospital. Kathy returned to Northwood and served as the Director of for the hospital and nursing home from 1965-68. She entered the United States Air Force in 1968 and served as a general nurse, clinical nurse and primary care nurse practitioner. completing flight nurse training and other military nursing programs, she was selected to be a member of the first primary care nurse practitioner class from the USAF at the University of Arizona, Tucson, in 1974. Kathy served her country at various assignments in the United States, in Viet Nam at Cam Rahn Bay from 1970-71, and at Kadena Air Force Base, Okinawa, from 1976-78. In 1983 she was assigned to Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, retired there in 1988 and made San Antonio her home. Her varied interests included photography, music, golf, travel and genealogy. As the family historian for the Rogenes and Broderson descendants, she became acquainted with relatives across the United States, Canada, Germany and Norway. The names, dates and places she cataloged in her genealogy research are a family treasure. She was a member of the Buxton, ND American Legion, Society of Air Force Nurses, Disabled American Veterans, Sons of Norway and Abiding Presence Lutheran Church in San Antonio. There she served as a choir member since 1985 and as invincible choir librarian for twenty years. She also volunteered as a driver for the Low Vision Club. Survivors include her brother, Donald O. Rogenes and sister in law Harriet Rogenes of Willmar, MN; aunts, Geraldine Facey and Selma Sirek; and fourteen first cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Grace and Oscar Rogenes. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. , 10, 2012, at Porter Loring Mortuary North. SERVICE SATURDAY, AUGUST 11, 2012 11:00 A.M. ABIDING PRESENCE LUTHERAN CHURCH 14700 SAN PEDRO Rev. Dawn Silvius and Rev. Steven J. Cox will officiate. Interment with Full Military Honors will be in Grue Lutheran , rural Buxton, ND.
