Obituary: Lt. Colonel Ray Rieman USAF Retired, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to many passed away peacefully with family by his side on the morning of 16, 2009 in San Antonio Texas at the age of 89. Ray was born on the family farm in Sheppard Montana on 12, 1919 and was the 2nd oldest child of W. Rieman and Minnie Voltz Rieman. graduating high school he enrolled at the University of California at Berkley in 1938. During his Christmas break in 1941 he enlisted in the Army following Pearl Harbor and was assigned to the Army Air Corp. He served in WW II as a bombardier and navigator with the 397th Bomber Group of the 9th Air Force. One of his many adventures during the war occurred when his B-26 Marauder the Grunt and Groan which was supporting the advance of the 82nd Airbornes assault on the port city of Cherbourg was hit by flak in the left engine and forced to make an emergency landing on a airstrip under construction by allied forces and was the first Allied plane to actually land in France following the invasion of Normandy.
His service won him the Distinguished Flying Cross for courage and valor. During the war in 1942 at a USO social function in New Orleans he would meet the love of his life Dorothy Marie Pomes also of New Orleans. Following VE day they would be married on 30, 1945. his discharge from active duty Ray and his new bride would buy a ranch and settle down in Ballantine Montana. Five years later his country would call on him again because of war and without hesitation he reported for duty. He continued his career in the USAF following the conflict in Korea and would fly combat missions in 3 different wars. In 1964 during an overseas tour in Korea, Ray developed a love for childrens charity and received special recognition from the Korean Government for his work with an orphanage located in Chon Puk Province in the Republic of Korea. This love would continue throughout his life. his retirement from the Air Force in 1969 he and his family would move to San Antonio where Ray embarked on his new career in insurance. Ray retired from USAA in 1989 after 20 years of dedicated and professional service. Ray and Dot were involved together in many organizations during his lifetime including VFW Post 7407-Commander, BPOE Elks #216-Trustee, the Royal Order of Moose #744, Boy Scout Troop 307-Scoutmaster, the American Legion, B-26 Marauder Historical Society, AACS Alumni Association and Los Amigos. He also spent many hours working with Cal Farleys Boys Ranch. Ray is survived by his wife of 63 years Dorothy, brother Willard of Ballantine MT. and sister Shirley Thomas of Worden MT. Sons Richard Eugene and wife Dianna of Amarillo, Randall John and wife Susan of Middletown MD., Robert William of Houston and daughter Kathryn Antoinette of Austin. Grandchildren Jennifer Kristin and husband Patrick Schenk of San Antonio, Richard Eugene Jr. of San Antonio presently serving in Iraq, Scott Henry and wife Alanna of Colorado Springs CO., Stephen Ray of Middletown MD. and Robert Mason of SugarLand TX. Great-grandchildren Amanda Elizabeth and Christina Michelle of San Antonio and Joseph Eric of Colorado Springs CO. Visitation will be held on 21st beginning at 5:00 P.M. at Porter Loring on McCullough with a Rosary in the Chapel at 7:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Rays name to a childrens charity of your choice.

Obituary: Ralph Martin Riekenberg, 88, long time resident of Houston, Texas passed away on 8, 2015. Born in Lincoln , Kansas on 23, 1927 to Martin and Lena Riekenberg, he lived with his Aunt Vee (Jennie Vee Bell) in Beverly, Kansas after his parents passed in 1941 and 1938, respectively. He attended Beverly High School, graduating in 1945. serving briefly in the US Navy, Ralph attended Kansas State , where he graduated with an Agricultural Engineering degree.

Ralph worked at engineering jobs in the Kansas City area until , 1963, when he moved his family to Houston to take a job as Production Engineer at The Houston Post. He retired from the Post in 1985 and subsequently worked as a bookkeeper in a commercial printing business owned by a family friend. He finally retired from the printing business in , 1992.

Ralph met the love of his life, Virginia Jean Smith, while they were in school at Kansas State. Married in 1950, they remained devoted to each other for 61 years until Virginia passed in 2011. In 2005, Virginia had a heart attack and never fully recovered. During the six years that she was in nursing care, Ralph missed only one day of being there for her because of his own medical procedure.

Wherever they lived, Ralph and Virginia were always active in Baptist Churches. He taught School and provided leadership for the youth ministry. She was involved with youth and adult choirs. Ralph finally retired, he volunteered at the Baptist Mission in Houston and performed volunteer maintenance work for First Baptist Church of Alief.

Ralph is survived by two sons, Martin Jay Riekenberg (wife JJ) of Austin and David Alan Riekenberg (wife Amelia) of Maplewood, NJ; and three grandchildren, Philip (wife Jessica), Margaret and Samuel.

A visitation will be held on , 11, from 5:00-7:00 pm at the Forest Park Westheimer , 12800 Westheimer. services will take place on , 12, at 10:30 am also at the Forest Park Westheimer . In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to First Baptist Church of Alief (12001 Moonmist Dr. Houston, TX 77072) or a charity of your choice.

Obituary: Robert Bob Riek passed away on , 18, 2016. He was born on 25, 1925 in Abilene, Texas to Jessie Lou Peel Riek and Robert Wesley Riek. graduation from Lubbock High School in 1943 at age 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served in the 517th Parachute Combat Team Battlin Buzzards of the 82nd Airborne where he saw service and combat in Italy, Southern France, the Ardennes Bulge and Germany. Before his 20th birthday, he was a decorated combat veteran receiving the Bronze Star and other decorations and the rank of Sergeant.

his service, he returned to Lubbock and worked as a fireman dispatcher and married Dolores Johnson. He received a degree in accounting from Texas Tech University. Bob and Dolores had 4 children while living in Lubbock and he later moved his family to Midland, Texas where he began a lifelong career in oil and gas management. Bob was a longtime member of and active in the First Baptist Church in Midland, a student of the Bible and a man of God.

He was an excellent golfer and served as a member and President of Ranchland Hills Country Club and was a member of Midland Country Club. He loved the mountains of New Mexico and Colorado, fishing, traveling to Las Vegas and engaging his family in everything from bowling to card games. He followed Texas Tech and its sports. Bob was an example of a successful, self-made, self-supporting person who worked his way through life and shared his faith, love of family, a wonderful sense of humor, smile, politics, and what he had with others.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother George Clifton Riek; sisters, Ina Mae Armstrong, Josephine Ballew and Melba Bowden and his wife Dolores as well as grandsons Trent Brown, Christopher and Daniel Riek.

He is survived by his sister Irene Farr and second wife Ruth Anne of Midland. He is also survived by; his children, Carol Riek Brown and husband Robert of New Braunfels, Texas; Linda Riek Miller and husband Bill of Lubbock, Texas; Mike Riek and his wife Natalia of Denton, Texas and Les Riek of Midland, Texas as well as grandchildren Les Brown, Jenny Burrow, Emily Shipley, Jared Miller, Kristen Haynes, Sarah Corder, Hannah Riek, and Vlad Riek and 9 great grandchildren.

Services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Midland, Texas on , 20, 2016 at 11:00 a.m.

The family wishes to thank the Luman Lusk Facility of Big Spring and Compass Hospice of Big Spring and their staff for their care and support of Bob.
