Obituary: Dr. Allen Geoffrey Reuben, beloved husband, father, son, brother, physician, colleague, and friend passed away on 13, 2012 in Dallas, Texas. Allen was born on 20, 1952 in Dallas to David and Rose Reuben. He graduated from Hillcrest High School and received his B.S. in Biology from UT Arlington. He earned his M.D. from UT Southwestern Medical School and completed Infectious Disease fellowships at the VA Hospital in Houston and MD Anderson Cancer in Houston. Since 1991 Dr. Reuben practiced medicine in Dallas and the surrounding counties. In 2009 Dr. Reuben was recognized by his peers as a Best Infectious Disease Medicine and Internal Medicine Specialist in D Magazine. Dr. Reuben loved being a physician and helping his patients to overcome serious illnesses. He always exuded kindness and optimism with patients and family members as well as members of the nursing staff and other colleagues. He will leave a void in the medical community. Allen was a dedicated family man. A father first in his home, Allen never missed an opportunity to be available to his loving family. He loved his wife of twenty years, Tammy, and she was the love of his life and his soul mate forever. He cherished and adored their five children. Everyone knew where his priorities and heart were on a daily basis. He was extremely proud of each ones accomplishments and talked endlessly of his love for them. He is survived by wife, Tammy Reuben; five children, Danielle, Grant, Autumn, Garrett, and Faith; father, David Reuben; sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Philip Elam. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rose Reuben. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on , 17, 2012 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 7611 Park Lane, Dallas TX 75225. Obituary: David was born in Boston, Massachusetts on 10, 1921 and passed away on 11, 2016 after a brief illness. Davids parents were Abraham and Rebecca Rubenstein and he was raised in Chelsea, Massachusetts. During the build-up to World War II, David built a short-wave radio and listened to transmissions from Europe. David served in the Navy during World War II as a radioman on the USS Piedmont, a destroyer tender. He was a part of the South Pacific fleet that would have invaded Japan if they had not surrendered first. He spent a year in Japan as part of the occupation group where he nodded to the Emperor as he passed by on a train. David married Rose Levy in 1947 and after honeymooning in Texas, they decided to move to Dallas. had two children, Allen and Louise. David worked in the offices of Ford Motor and then opened a dry cleaning business. selling his business, he went to work for the City of Dallas in the Police Departments property room. It was there that he held the gun that Jack Ruby used to shoot Lee Harvey Oswald. He retired from the City of Dallas as an Urban Rehabilitation supervisor in the mid-80s and then enjoyed leisure activities for 30 years, which included travel; investing in and studying the stock market; senior luncheons and programs; and checkers. David is survived by daughter, Louise Elam, and her husband, Philip; daughter-in-law, Tammy Reuben; and five grandchildren who gave him great joy: Danielle, Grant, Autumn, Garrett and Faith Reuben. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, Rose Reuben; son, Allen Reuben; and brother, Barney Rubenstein. David was loved by everyone that met him due to his sunny and easy-going disposition. He had a sharp wit and beaming smile that made him a joy to be around. He will be sorely missed by his family and the caregivers that quickly became a part of his extended family. Davids family expresses their appreciation to his many caregivers. Obituary: Stanley A. Retzloff, age 70, passed away suddenly on , May 25, 2014, at his home in San Antonio. He was born 13, 1943, in San Antonio to Walter and Celia Retzloff. He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and St. Marys University with a degree in finance. Stanley proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1968 - 1971. He was employed by Pearson Education as a research librarian (Stan began this career at the Psychological Corporation which became Harcourt and later Pearson for over 20 years). Stanley was a 6th generation Texan who enjoyed working in the yard with his plants and listening to classic country and jazz music. He loved his three rescue cats, Annie, Samantha and Sadie who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Walter G. Retzloff. Stanley is survived by his wife, Karen Greiss Retzloff; stepsons, Christopher J. Hale and wife, Kelly, of Bloomfield Hills, MI, and Joel A. Hale and wife, Julie, of Levittown, PA; grandson, James Hale; granddaughter, Sloan Hale; brothers, Gerald F. Retzloff and wife, Sally, and Maurice C. Retzloff; two nieces and four nephews. Eer may that line of gray Increase from day to day; Live, serve, and die, we pray, WEST POINT, for thee. Karl was a High School Senior and Betty was a freshman when they first noticed each other. Their first date was in the summer of 1932. He was seventeen and she was fourteen. graduation Karl stayed out of school for a year and worked to build up sufficient funds to start college. In 1935 he started college at Oregon State where he joined the Kappa Sigma fraternity. When Betty graduated from High School her parents sent her to the University of Oregon not only for educational purpose but also in hopes of broadening her social interests. The forty miles between the two schools was hardly noticed by either of them. At the University of Oregon Betty joined the Gamma Phi Beta sorority. In 1937 Karl entered West Point. He had to repeat his second term as a plebe because of academic difficulties with his studies in French. He graduated in the class of 1942. In 1939 Betty moved to New York City where, after attending secretarial school she found a job in the home offices of S. H. KRESS and later with Hamilton Publishing Co. on Wall St. She visited West Point on nearly every weekend from the summer of 1939 until graduation in 1942. Karl and Betty were married a few hours after graduation in the chapel at West Point. In addition to KarlÂs West Point education they had a wonderful time in the social life of a cadet. enjoyed swimming at Delafield Pond, Flirtation Walk, Formal dances every night, football games, etc. but now it was off to flight training and World War II. Flight training in California and New Mexico Â- bomber training in TexasÂ-then Betty back to Dallas, Ore. to give birth to Bill on 28 , 1943. Karl left Texas to take Betty and Bill with him to Florida to complete his bomber training before flying to England in the fall of 1943. Twenty-nine missions later her was assigned to Headquarter United States Strategic Air Froces in Europe. Meanwhile Betty and Bill had moves back to Oregon. With the war over in Europe, Karl was assigned to the War Department General Staff in the Pentagon. In 1945 Betty, Bill and Karl drove from Oregon to Wash. D.C. to start the assignment. Betty and Karl had now crossed the USA six times since 1939. Returning from World War II, this was the first of many military assignments, and Betty and Karl made all of them together. When the war with Japan ended, all personnel assigned to General Staff in the previous six months were reassigned. Karl went to the Directorate of Operations in the Air Corps Staff in the Pentagon and then to a new office created to determine the characteristics of future guided missiles. Mike was born on 5 1946. a very productive tour in the guided missile office he was sent to Stanford University to earn his Masters Degree. Jere was born 3 1948 in the hospital on the Stanford campus. From Stanford the next assignment was to the Evaluation Staff of the Air War at Montgomery, Alabama. In 1951 he was selected for special staff in the Air Force Office of Atomic Energy. In the 1955 the family moved from Washington D.C. to Tripoli, No. Africa. Karl became an Air Rescue Squadron Commander and was promoted to Colonel in 1957 and then assigned to the Air Defense Command at Colorado Springs. His experience gained in the next four years of planning for the underground installation of air defense and missiles command and control systems developed a background which led to his assignment as System Program Director with the sole responsibility of placing the Norad Command inside Cheyenne Mountain. It was an exhilarating and demanding job. Meanwhile Bill Started college at Oregon State and joined the Kappa Sigma fraternityÂ-he and his father had become fraternity brothers. In 1964 Karl was assigned to the Space Division of AF Systems Command. Mike started college at the University of Oregon where he joined the Sigma Nu Fraternity. At the Space Systems Division Karl served as the Assistant Deputy of Operations with an additional duty as Director of Program 461. His primary task was to develop and procure a system which would operate in a synchronous orbit and detect missile launches anywhere in the world. The program was approved and implementation was started. Karl was sent to NORAD for his last duty assignment prior to retirement in Colorado Springs. Jere entered the Air Force Academy at the same time. It was now 1966; Bill had graduate from OSC. He and Marilyn Babcock had married. Bill started graduate work at the University of Oregon. Karl was assigned as Manger of Cheyenne Mountain which was now fully operational. The family was really home in Colorado Springs since they had re-occupied their home which had been rented to others when they left in 1961. In the years that followed Mike graduated and became an active duty 2nd Lt. Bill earned his Masters Degree and received a direct commission as a 2nd Lt. In 1970 Jere graduation from the Air Force Academy and became a 2nd Lt. Karl and Betty had their own Air Force until Oct 1970 when Karl retired. He and Betty lived in Colorado Springs until 1975 when they built a home in Cape Coral Florida. enjoyed Florida but in 1987 they decided that it was time to move to the Air Force Village in San Antonio, Texas. Survivors include his beloved wife, Betty Retzer; sons: William Retzer, Jere Retzer and Michael Retzer. |
