Obituary: Patricia Lee Ragsdale, 80 of Rowlett, Texas. Formerly of Mesquite, Texas passed away at 2:15 PM on 29, 2017 in Rowlett, TX surrounded by family. Born 6, 1936 in Mont Alto, PA. She was the daughter of John A. Lowry and Marion V. Lowry of Mont Alto, PA. Mrs. Ragsdale graduated from Waynesboro High School in 1954. She attended nursing school. She married Perry E. Minnich and moved to Tampa, FL. Where she raised two sons; Dennis L. Minnich and Jeffrey L. Minnich. She later married Charles Burgroff and moved to Mesquite, TX where she raised her third son; Charles Robert Burgroff. She later married Clifton Ragsdale of Mesquite, TX. She was employed by members Mutual in Dallas, TX. She is survived by two sons; Dennis L. Minnich of Rowlett, TX and Charles R. Burgroff of Garland, TX. Two sisters; Jean M. Dice of Chambersburg, PA. and Terry K. Reed of Lugoff, S.C., John I. Lowry of Peak, S.C., Larry D. Lowry of Chambersburg, PA., three grandchildren; Justin A. Minnich and Robin A. Minnich and Gage Wade. One great granddaughter; Kaitlyn M. Minnich. She was preceded in death by husband; Clifton Ragsdale, sister; Dorothy Younger, two brothers; Robert L. Lowry and Charles W. Obituary: Born 4th 1934 to Inez & Clyde Ragsdale in Valdosta, Georgia Billy Roderick Ragsdale was raised with 1 step sister, Libby, numerous Uncles, Aunts and cousins. His mother and father eventually divorced when he was in his mid teens and he learned to grow up quick. Soon Billy found himself dating the pretty ladies in his neighborhood until he eventually found the one true love of his life, Carolyn Hughes. a very short courtship they married young on May 1st, 1954 and soon began a journey of a very large family. Debbie was born of 1955, then came Billy DeWane in of 1956, Timothy Craig Nov. of 1959, Samuel Charles Dec of 1960, Jimmy Roderick Oct of 1962, Tony Francis Nov of 1968 and Tammy Carol 1971. 7 children to raise, wasn easy. both had odd jobs here and there, but nothing stuck and soon enough an opportunity came along in Texas, and in 1970 Billy interviewed with the Imperial Sugar in Sugar Land where he accepted the position to manage and oversee the boilers. He immediately moved his entire family down on a one way ticket on a Greyhound Bus. We can only imagine Carolyns face when she boarded that bus with all of the kids to manage, not to mention the bus driver and the rest of the passengers. The Ragsdale clan finally settled down and started to plant their roots in the then, tiny town of Sugar Land. Billy, or now better known as BR, continued his career with the refinery, while Carolyn showed off her talents working in the food industry at Fort Bend ISD for 17 years and Randalls for another 10 years. As the kids grew up and moved on, soon enough, in the blink of an eye, it happened, Billy & Carolyn were empty nesters. BR retired in 1991 at the right time the Imperial Sugar sold out and moved out of Texas. As faith would have it, it was the perfect time for Carolyn to hang up her apron and start enjoying the fruits of their hard earned labor. Whether it be spending time with their grandchildren, in the garden, Carolyn cooking supper and BR was always out in his shed piddlin. What was he doing in there you might ask? Making bird houses, swings, rocking chairs and windmills. Youll see those scattered throughout his yard today. The family would always drop by and see their dad out in one of his many garages and hed yell out Yall get down! and then youd hear Come on in the house! BR was so welcoming and would help anyone with anything. In 2004, they both celebrated their 50th wedding Anniversary with friends and family all gathered around to congratulate them, it was a truly magical night that no one will forget. BR and his children suffered a sudden loss of Carolyn in of 2008, and while overcoming this tragedy his kids were so very proud of their dad for showing his strong resilience and independence in overcoming his wifes passing. Although the family would visit him from time to time, He welcomed everyones help, but he would have preferred to do it on his own. If he wanted to go grocery shopping, he would, fishing with his sons, yes sir, Gambling on his birthday, absolutely! Only special events like Thanksgiving or Christmas would he like to go out. And when you saw him out, he was easy to spot in his blue and white pin striped overalls with his flannel shirt, that famous cap and toothpick, BRs trademark. BR would become wise to his answering machine. If you left a message, you may or may not get a return call. He screened every call! But when you did happen to catch him, he would talk for just a minute or two. That was BR. He gave himself to the lord not to long after Carolyn passed all witnessed by his children and some of his grandkids. It was a powerful moment for BR and his family as they celebrated soon after. Billy Roderick Ragsdale, BR, Pops, Pa Pa or Grandpa lived a full, fun filled life and is now holding his loving wife, Carolyn. We are all certain she has already filled his belly with her famous southern cooking with some sweet tea that he longed for. Sure, he will be missed by all who knew him, 7 children, 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren relatives and friends. All will think of them both, often. We will never forget you. We love you. |

Linda is preceded in death by her parents, James and Grace Ragsdale and her daughter, Darlene Hale. She is survived by her daughter, Terri McDonald and her husband Wallace; her grandchildren, Sandy Edwards and husband Chad of Willis Tx, Jason Goss and wife Leah of Conroe Tx, Koby Maher and girlfriend Jessica Tromanhauser of Conroe Tx, Sarah Robinson and husband Sammy of Conroe Tx. Great-grandchildren, Clay Pelton, Hanna Garrett, Trent Goss, Tye Goss, Colt Edwards, Laney James Robinson and many other friends that knew her as Granny. Her greatest accomplishment in life was her family! She loved shopping, eating out at many different nice restaurants. She also loved traveling and staying in nice hotels. Linda retired from Consolidated Communications. She also was a very big fan of the Texas Longhorns! The family would like to thank Hospice plus, especially nurse Donna Vanagrift, Allison Abdias, Robbie Lynn, Charlie Flanagan and Miss Mary Gatling, her care taker. The funeral service will be , 12, 2017 at 3 pm with visitation prior to service at 2pm at Cashner in Conroe Texas with interment to follow in Garden Park . |
