Obituary: Guadalupe T. Arellano Ragsdale, known as ÂPita by her parents, was born in San Francisco on 25, 1916 and died on 10, 2006 at the age of 89. She was preceded by her parents Rafael and Guadalupe Arellano, her brother Ralph Arellano, and her husband James E. Ragsdale, Sr. She is survived by her children, Michael James Ragsdale and his wife Nancy of San Francisco, Rev. Msgr. Patrick J. Ragsdale of San Antonio, James E. Ragsdale, Jr. of Dripping Springs, and Jane Marie Judd and her husband Gary of Amarillo, and her granddaughter Dee Dee Michele Judd of Dallas. In addition she is survived by her sister-in-law Iris Ragsdale of Pampa and numerous nieces and nephews. She focused her life on her children, always supporting them in their successes and praying for them in their trials of life. Her number one Âvirtue was Âworrying about her children every day of her life! Her Âsmile was Âwarm and Âgleaming and her final words in each conversation were, ÂI love you! We thank her for that love and know she rests in the Resurrected Lord, who wipes away her tears and ours as we bid our farewell to a Âsmall but Âvibrant Mom. Please pray for us that we will continue to make you proud. It was you who taught us how to live, suffer and die. Your footprints will always be ahead of us to guide us on our journey of life. As you take your final walk across the Golden Gate Bridge, and hear Tony Bennett sing, ÂI left my heart in San FranciscoÂ, we see you turn and smile and say, ÂI love youÂ, and ÂSee you laterÂ. Obituary: Dr. Elizabeth Johnson Ragsdale, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and educator, died 24, 2017. Born 8, 1940 in Columbus, GA to the late Hiram W. and Muriel H. Johnson, Dr. Ragsdale graduated from Columbus High School in 1958. She earned a bachelors degree from Huntingdon , a masters degree from Georgia State University, and a doctoral degree from Florida State University. She was married to her best friend, the late Thomas (Tom) G. Ragsdale, for 51 years. She taught middle and high school French and English and later piano while raising her three children in Albany, GA. In 1979, she joined the faculty as a Reading Specialist at Albany Junior , renamed Darton . Former students fondly remember her dedication and commitment to teaching and care and concern for her students. She retired after many years of service in 2006 from Darton as the Chair of both the Division of Humanities and the Division of Learning Support. Initially appointed to the State Board of Early and Learning, she was appointed by the former Governor Sonny Perdue in , 2009 to serve on the State Board of Education representing the Second Congressional District in South Georgia. As a highly respected board member, Dr. Ragsdale took great pride in helping to improve public education in her district and throughout Georgia. retiring from the board in 2013, she moved to Austin, TX to be near her daughters family. Dr. Ragsdale was a strong Christian and longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Albany, GA and later The Lakeway Church in Austin, TX. Shewas a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society, a graduate of Leadership Albany, and a member of P.E.O., Philanthropic Educational Organization in Lakeway, TX. Survivors include a son and his wife, John and Staci Ragsdale of Keller, TX, two daughters and their husbands, Kim and John Hepler of Atlanta, GA and Barrie and Kevin Spencer of Austin, TX, and seven grandchildren whom she adored, Zack Shepherd, Luke Shepherd, Laura Spencer, Rachel Spencer, Holt Ragsdale, Harrison Ragsdale, and Maggie Ragsdale. The family will receive friends , 6, from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Striffler-Hamby at Park Hill in Columbus, GA. services will be held , 7, at 11:00 am at the same location.
