Obituary: View Video Tribute Victor S. Rasbury, 85, farmer, businessman, and longtime resident of Columbia, died , 3, 2016 at Maury Regional Medical . services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols with Elder Larry Tarkington officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. and from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home. He was born 1, 1930 in Wayne to the late Lovick Timothy Rasbury and Sallie Ann Luna Rasbury. Victor graduated from Lewis High School (1949) where he was co-captain of the football team and President of the Future Farmers of America. He attended college at Tennessee Polytechnical Institute (now Tennessee Tech) until he decided to enlist in the United States Navy during the Korean War in 1951. He was stationed in San Diego and Norfolk as one of the technicians reconditioning WWII ships to return to active service. He served as a Machinist Mate aboard the USS Rush then the USS Black through 1953. He was married to Joy Patricia Petty, daughter of Hubert O. Petty and Erma Morgan Petty of Columbia in of 1953. were the parents of two daughters, Patricia and Susan. Actively farming until the time of his death, Victor spent more than six decades of work as a farmer, stockman and agriculturist. The Rasbury-Petty Farm est. 1913 was recognized as this years Century Farm by the Maury Chamber & Economic Alliance. He was on the boards of directors of Dairymen Inc. and of the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS). Throughout his farming career he was recognized by many for excellence in horse breeding, dairy herd management and conservation. He was very community-minded and was a supporter of numerous civic organizations around the county. He served as an election poll judge for many years and helped build and support the Mynders Volunteer Fire Dept. Victor will be remembered by family and many friends as a kind and gracious man with a strong will and wonderful sense of humor. A devoted husband, father, uncle, and great uncle, he loved his family, Tennessee, his country, his Lord, and his friends. He is survived by his daugters, Patricia J. Rasbury and Susan J. Rasbury DApolito and her husband Craig; nieces, Norma Evelyn Skelton Dabbs, Annette Rasbury Peery, and Betty Frances Wisdom Hinson; nephew Billy Skelton; and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Joy; his parents; sisters, Ara Catherine Rasbury Skelton and Edith Robena Rasbury Wisdom Gunter; and brothers, William Thomas Rasbury, Luna Timothy Rasbury and James Walker Rasbury.
