Obituary: Jean Sokol Rosner, 85, of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of Herbert E. Rosner, died , 18, 2015. Her funeral service will be held at the graveside , 20, 2015, in Brith Sholom Beth Israel Maryville, Sycamore Avenue, at 11:00 a.m. by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL. Jean was born May 3, 1930 in Charleston, SC, daughter of the late Morris Paul Sokol and the late Ida Lerner Sokol. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from the University of South Carolina and her Masters Degree in Education from the University of Michigan. Jean taught kindergarten for over 30 years in the Charleston School System and taught elementary school in Detroit, MI, and it was here that she met the love of her life, Herb Rosner. She was involved in her synagogue and Jewish organizations. Jean was a past president of the Brith Sholom Beth Israel Synagogue sisterhood, a member of Hadassah and the Council of Jewish Women. Jean was a lady and a queen whose larger than life personality knew no stranger. She was a southern belle and a stickler for manners and proper grammar. She loved to dance, shop il you drop, and collect pretty things. Thank you to all of Jeans caregivers through the years. A special thank you goes to Pat Miller, not only a loving caregiver who went above and beyond, but a true friend and family member. She is survived by her husband of 54 strong years, Herbert; four children: Elissa Freedman (Louis) of Savannah, GA, Noah Rosner (Mickey) of Atlanta, GA, Dr. Daniel Rosner (Penny) of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Adam Simcha Rosner of Charleston, SC; seven grandchildren: Matthew Freedman, Casey Rosner, John Rosner, Allie Rosner, Isaac Freedman, Eli Rosner, and Alec Rosner; brother, Joseph H. Sokol (Freida) of Charleston, SC; sister, Sonia S. Greenberg of Boynton Beach, FL; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Obituary: Thomas Tom Harry Rosling, 83, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Jo Anne Thompson Rosling died , 6, 2016. His Memorial Service with military honors will be held , 11, 2016 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 12:00 pm. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends at the Mount Pleasant Chapel on from 11:00 am until time of the service. Tom was born May 27, 1933 in Greeley, Colorado, son of the late Harry Thomas Rosling and the late Gertrude Devlin Rosling. He held a bachelors degree from the University of Northern Colorado and was working on a masters degree. Thomas served in the United States Navy and retired from civil service as a Nuclear Engineer. He was also a member of the NRA. He is survived by his wife, Jo Anne Jo Rosling of Mt. Pleasant, SC; daughter, Sherri Mills and her husband, Raymond, of Haymarket, VA; two grandchildren, Aiden and Makayla. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jacqueline Westberg. Obituary: COLUMBIA - Rodney Emanuel Rosenzweig, 87, passed peacefully on , 24, 2014. A celebration of life will be held , 20, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with a reception following at Dunbar Northeast Chapel. Rod, a caring family man who aided many and was loved by all, was born in NY to the late Florence and Sol Rosenzweig in 1927. A USC alumnus and retired electrical engineer, who worked on the space program and anti-ballistic systems, also served in the Merchant Marines and Army during World War II and the Korean War. retirement Rod loved playing golf, dancing, traveling and spending time with family and friends. He was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Helen Louise Hall, of Olympia SC. He is survived by his special companion, Daneen Sherman, of Blythewood; a sister, Natalie Segall; children, Dana and Roddy; 5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and a host of loving family members and many fantastic friends including the Laurie Golden Friendship Club. His beloved daughter, Donna Rosenzweig Shannon, of Wilmington, NC, recently accompanied him on 28, 2014. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Palmetto Hospice. |
