Obituary: Elizabeth Holden Robinson - Piedmont, SC Mrs. Elizabeth Holden Robinson, 77, of 209 Ramblewood Drive, wife of the late Arthur Bud Robinson, passed away , 21, 2011 at Baptist Easley Hospital. Born in Pickens , a daughter of the late Paul Olin and Lois Chapman Holden, Mrs. Robinson retired from J.P. Stevens after thirty six years and was a member of Siloam Baptist Church. Surviving are two sons, Mike Robinson (Debbie) of Easley and Gene Robinson of Sugar Hill, GA; four daughters, Pat Davis (Dan) of Easley; Barbara Day (Danny) of Easley; Debbie Blihar of Piedmont; and Teresa Howell (Jimmy) of Greer; two brothers, Edward Holden of Easley and Gerald Holden (Hazel) of Pickens; one sister, Ellen Melton of Easley; eleven grandchildren and twenty four great-grandchildren. services will be 2:00 p.m. , 24, 2011 in the chapel of Robinson -Downtown. Entombment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home, prior to the service. The family is at the home. Obituary: Mr. Edward Ed Levern Robinson, son of Mr. Samuel Robinson, Sr., and Mrs. Geathel Matthews Robinson, was born 1946 in Florence, South Carolina. He departed this life on Wednes-day morning, 23, 2016. Ed, as he was called, graduated from Wilson High School in 1964 and received his Bachelors Degree in Mathematics from South Carolina State University in 1971. In 1966, after one year of college, Ed was inducted into the United States Army, but he received an early Honorable Discharge (Student) to return to South Carolina State University. Ed the Educator, taught math at Moore Junior High School for several years. leaving the School District, he served as a math tutor for many high school and college students. He was an Entrepreneur which included: Owner of a Drivers Training School, Licensed Appraiser, Licensed Building Contractor, Owner of Shingles Lounge, and part owner of Ed and Sams Amoco Station. In addition, Ed was a Humanitarian, Civil Rights Activist, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. On May 8, 1989, Ed began his service to the City of Florence as Councilman Edward Robinson representing Council District Two. During his years of service, he was dedicated to his constituents, and served them individually and collectively. Councilman Robinson had many achievements and affiliations. He was Chairman of the Board for PDRTA, Loving Arms Board Member, former Chairperson of Municipal Association of Black Elected Officials, Founder of Carolina Regional Black Chamber of Commerce, Coordinator of the Florence Branch of the National Action Network, Organizer of the annual King Day and Rally, and Founder of Florence Community Development Agency. Still Councilman Robinsons accomplishments are great, but the greatest of them all was his FORTITUDE to SACRIFICE his livelihood to have a VOICE for his community, and for his peo-ple. Ed served with devotion, dedication, sincerity and faithfulness. Ed served! Councilman Robinson was a member of Cumberland United Methodist Church as well as, the Bible Study Group of the Church of Florence. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his sisters, Emma Doll Baby Smith, Ella Tumbler Herbert, and Magdeline Robinson Gibson, Left to cherish Eds memories are: his devoted wife, Mrs. Erica Moreno Robinson; his brother, Mr. Samuel Robinson Jr.; children: Gaea Europia Gitty Robinson of Miami, FL; Geathel Monique Galbreath, Gregory Gibson, Aubrey McKay of Sacramento, CA; LaKishia Alls, Robert Veran Gregg, Catherine Geathel Robinson of Charlotte, NC, and Valentina Robinson of the home; four-teen grandchildren; one great grandchild; uncle, Jasper Matthews; aunt, Annie Ruth Matthews (Johnny) Moore; cousin, Carrie Robinson Abbot Lawrence; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. |
