Obituary: THOMAS E. ROLLINS age 56 Of Porter, OK, formerly of New Bremen, OH, died on , 17, 2015 at 2:30 P.M. at the Hillcrest Medical in Tulsa, OK. He was born on 8, 1958 in Lima, OH the son of the late Edward L. Ted and Sandra L. (Hanson) Rollins. On 21, 1992 he married Michelle M. Kimes who survives in Porter, OK. Also surviving are their children Eric Coen stationed in MD, Ashley (Kevin) Lopez of Coweta, OK, Marissa (David) Friend of Porter, OK, five grandchildren, and his siblings Randall Rollins of Northfield, MN, Becky (Larry) Fearing of Sandusky, OH, David (Sandra) Rollins of Pequot Lakes, MN, and Julie (Patrick) Ferguson of New Bremen, OH. Tom had attended Rhema Bible Church in Broken Arrow, OK, and Faith Alliance Church of New Bremen. He was a 1976 graduate of New Bremen High School. He attended St. Paul Bible , and graduated from Rhema Bible . He was a carpenter at the International Bus Plant in Tulsa, OK for over 13 years. Tom was a very kind hearted, giving, and compassionate man. He was devoted to his family, and loved his children and grandchildren beyond measure. services will be on , 25, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at Faith Alliance Church in New Bremen, with Pastor Thomas Sager officiating. Interment will follow in the German Protestant of New Bremen. Obituary: He came in to this world with nothing and left with absolutely everything. To have known Delmer was to have known: A man of God. He truly loved the Lord and was intent on doing His will. While in combat in Vietnam, he was blown from bunker. While waiting to be rescued, he prayed and asked God to save him and that if He did that he would serve him. God did save him and Delmer has served him ever since. As the spiritual head of his household, he led a life that exemplified Gods love, charity, forgiveness and service. He was faithful until his last breath, knowing that God would heal him on this side or the other. A lover. 46 years ago, this month, after a year of letters and phone calls, he laid eyes on Diane for the first time and asked her to marry him. He loved and adored her with his whole heart and though it seemed impossible, each day he loved her even more. He firmly believed that marriage was not 50/50 but required 100% from each person to be successful. He gave and received that over and over. During the past 45 years of marriage, theyve welcomed 6 children 16 grandchildren who he loved fiercely and, if asked, would tell you each one was his favorite - and meant it. He nourished a special relationship between him and each one. A family man. From family nights and family reunions to recently starting a boys night out for all of the guys of the family, Delmer was committed to keeping the family unit strong. He was serious about his kids and grandkids and you could bring out the soldier in him by trying to mess with one of them. You couldn have a conversation with him without him talking about one of his children. Though, for him, family wasn strictly defined by blood. Over the years many were added to the family, not by blood or by marriage but purely by love. A fighter. Literally. A soldier. Serving his country for 29 years including a tour in Vietnam, in the Army National Guard and as a Reservist. A proud paratrooper, whenever things got tough, he would always remind his family, You got this! You e the daughter (son, grandchild, wife, etc.) of a paratrooper. Giving up was never an option. He was stubborn and probably passed this trait on to more than a few of his children. No matter how many times he was knocked down he always, always, got back up. A giver. He would literally give you the shirt off of his back. Delmer was known for his generosity and willingness to help others. Really, all you had to do was ask and if he could do it then he would. From a young age he taught his children to give back to God and the church but also to others around you. If God has blessed you with more than what you need, share the excess with others. A doer. He did not just talk about it, he was about it. Being action oriented, he planned and he executed. Sometimes he was successful and sometimes he was not. Failures were never the end; they were simply a lesson and stepping stone for a better attempt the next time. An Encourager. Delmer always had a positive word to say. He would uplift you in prayer, in words and in deeds. Now, he would talk your ear off if you let him but in that there was always a genuine concern and willingness to help. The list goes on and on. He was a teacher. A visionary. A dreambuilder. A jokester. A storyteller. A life changer. If you were impacted by his life, the ultimate way to cherish his memory is to allow his legacy to live through you. Be active in your faith. Give unselfishly. Encourage others. Let those you love know it. Fight for what you want and don settle for less. Enjoy life. Live it to the fullest and ride it until the wheels fall off.He did. |
