Obituary: DALLAS - Davis Andrew Rhyne, D.A., 83, passed away on 28, 2014, at Peak Resources of Cherryville with his loving family by his side. He was born in Gaston and was the son of the late Henry F. and Gertrude Farris Rhyne. D.A. was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean War during 1951-1953. He was a 22 year member of the Agricultural Volunteer Fire Department and retired after 30 years with Carolina Freight Carriers, Cherryville as a driver. He was a longtime member of Antioch Lutheran Church where he spent many years tending the grounds of the church cemetery. He was a faithful member of the McDonalds and Bojangles Breakfast Club of Dallas. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Helen Pasour Rhyne; two daughters, Gail Summey and husband Steve of Dallas, Patti White and husband John of Bessemer City; one son, Jeff Rhyne and wife Alma of Dallas; one brother, Bobby Rhyne and wife Frances of Dallas; sister-in-law, Sue Rhyne of Gastonia; five grandchildren, Jeremy Summey, Beth Farmer and husband Tyler, Sean White and wife Hannah, Jacob Rhyne, Joseph Rhyne; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Eugene Rhyne. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Parish Building of Antioch Lutheran Church, 330 Old N. C. Loop Road, Dallas. services will be 3 p.m. at Antioch Lutheran Church with Pastor George Rhyne officiating. Interment will follow in Antioch Lutheran Church with military honors by the U. S. Army. Memorials may be made to Antioch Lutheran Church, Garden of Peace, 330 Old N. C. Loop Rd., Dallas, North Carolina 28034. Online condolences may be made at: www.carothersfuneralhomedallas.com.
