Born in Buga Colombia, he resided there, before immigrating to the United States. He lived in Bridgewater for 15 years, before moving to Neshanic station where hes resided for the last 15 years. Alfonso was an avid reader, enjoyed cooking, traveling, swimming, and listening to Colombian music, especially Vallenatos. He enjoyed spending quality time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was predeceased in death by his beloved parents, Ceferina Ayala, Romulo Romero, and 5 sisters and 2 brothers. Surviving are his beloved wife, of 45 years, Aurora Olivar De Romero of Bridgewater NJ; 1 loving daughter, Yamile Madrigal and her husband Edgar of Branchburg NJ; 2 dear sons, Adrian and his wife Maryann of Bridgewater NJ; Andres Romero and his wife Chanelle of Lebanon NJ; 2 wonderful brothers, Marino Romero and his wife Teresa of Cali, Colombia; and Alberto Romero of Queens NY; and 2 cherished grandchildren Mya Rose and Aries Romero. Obituary: William Romer, 85 Long -Time Westerleigh Resident, Devoted Family Man William F. Romer, 85, formerly of Westerleigh, passed away peacefully on 30, 2017, surrounded by his family. William was born May 5, 1932 in Tottenville, the second of three children to Margaret and William Romer. growing up in Tottenville and attending Tottenville High School, William attended Baruch before enlisting and serving honorably in the United States Navy during the Korean War on the USS Myles C. Fox. Shortly after his return, he met and married the love of his life, Mildred Romer (née Frew), and began his career as an internal bank auditor. a 37-year career at the Federal Loan Bank of New York, William retired in 1992, and relocated to Manahawkin, New Jersey several years later, where he spent the remainder of his life. As someone who deeply valued experiencing life and learning new things, William was fascinated by the world around him, and spoke often of his travels during his time abroad while serving in the navy; he was also an avid reader. A caring, thoughtful man known for his quiet sense of humor and a unique ability to tell stories, William was beloved by both his friends and family alike, and will be remembered first and foremost for his kindness and willingness to lend a helping hand to those around him. Predeceased by his cherished wife Mildred after 46 years of marriage, as well as his sister Joan McGinn, William is survived by his sister Claire Tobin; his children William Romer, Nancy Romer-Glass, and Susan Howley; his son-in-law Thomas Howley; his grandchildren Thomas, Erin, and Sean Howley, and Griffin and Grant Glass; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. A memorial mass will be held on 5, 2017 at St. Marys Parish at 747 West Bay Ave. in Barnegat, NJ beginning at 11 AM. Obituary: Victoria Rose Romeo, 31, of Toms River, passed away on 7, 2016. Born in Red Bank, she was a lifelong resident of Toms River and graduated from Toms River North High School. She worked as a medical assistant in Brick. Victoria was predeceased by her father Frank Romeo in 2012 and her grandparents Philip and Josephine Strada. She is survived by her mother Carol Strada Romeo; her daughter Ciara Rose Shannon; her brother and sister-in-law Philip and Linette Romeo of Edison; three nephews Philip, Matthew and Dylan and her niece Katelyn; and her grandparents Chester and Mary Romeo of Fl; her Aunt Annette and Uncle Michael Tubito (Aunt Dickie and Uncle Buck-a-buck); her cousin Anthony Snyder and his spouse Todd Snyder with their children Alexandra and Gina; her cousin Lisa Tubito Mack and husband Brian Mack with their children Brandon, Logan and Paige; her cousin Tarrah Tubito Albruzzese and her husband Carmine Albruzzese with their children Carmine, Jr. Vincent and Lorenzo; her Uncle Dominic Strada and his late wife Lorraine; her Uncle Philip and Aunt Suzanne Strada with cousins Philip, Jr. and Amanda. Born in Hartford, CT she resided in Manhattan and Rockland , NY prior to moving to Toms River. Marie was predeceased by her parents Vincent and Helen Lacedonia and husband Anthony. Surviving are her daughters Donna and husband Robert of Brick, NJ, Marie and husband Joseph DeRosa of Toms River, Holly and husband Ronald Suppa of Toms River and Antoinette and husband Joseph Gonzales of Rockland , NY, brother Mauro and wife Dorothy Lacedonia of Seattle, WA, grandchildren Joseph, Christina, Michael, Matthew, Lisa, Thomas, Jaclyn and Stefanie and great grandchildren Arianna, Mariah and Joseph Thomas. Visitation will be 20th, 2015 from 2-4PM & 7-9PM and 21st, 2015 from 1-3PM at the Quinn-Hopping , 26 Mule Road, Toms River, NJ 08755. A Service will be offered on during visitation at 2:30PM. Golden: The Story of Marie Ann Romeo As the lights dimmed and the crowd grew quiet, there stood a beautiful young girl facing an audience that would humble most. She stepped toward the microphone, no older than ten years of age, exhibiting the poise of a seasoned performer. With the classic essence of an old soul, she closed her eyes and began to share her exceptional gift. Her voice rang across the auditorium, with a mixture of strength and elegance, aweing all those who listened. What they had experienced was not the singing voice of a child, but of an artist who had depth, soul and an abundance of heart. There stood Donna Lake, the Girl with the Golden Voice. It has been said that music is the way of sharing ones soul with world and for Marie Ann Lacedonia, also known as Donna Lake, it was her gift and legacy. Born on 26th, 1931 in Hartford Connecticut, Marie began singing at the mere age of five. It did not take very long for her talent to be recognized, as her brother and one of her greatest supporters, Mauro Lacedonia, immediately brought his sisters ability to the attention of their parents. Astonished and amazed by the vocal strength and raw talent exhibited by Marie, her parents uprooted to New York City in a quest to allow Marie to share her gift with the world. With limited direction and merely guided by a dream, Marie began singing on the streets of New York City in 1936, accompanied by her brother. As pedestrians passed, they could not help but notice this small child with a unique vocal skill that would put most performers to shame. Before long, Marie grabbed the attention of Freddy Fulton, a music manager who happened to be crossing the street on his way to work. As Maries sultry sound stopped Freddy in his tracks, he could not help but approach her and take her on as his client. From that point on, Marie began to build her professional career, not knowing that her voice would be her passport to an exceptional childhood. From there Marie began booking radio shows, in particular, the famous Horn and Hardart Hour on CBS. Marie made numerous appearances, singing a variety of both original and cover songs that would earn her the stage name and title of Donna Lake, the Girl with the Golden Voice. As her reputation grew, Marie recorded albums, appeared on variety shows and even performed with 1940s icons such as Jackie Cooper and Sophie Tucker. Maries professional career lasted until the age of twenty-one, where she met her husband, Anthony Romeo. Marie decided to hang up her microphone and redirect her love and passion to her four daughters, Antoinette, Donna, Holly and Marie. As the image of Donna Lake faded, Marie Romeo, loving mother, wife, grandmother, had flourished. She sacrificed her vocal career to create a new legacy, one that would live on through her family. Selfless, devoted, beautiful and pure, Marie Ann Romeo will always be remembered by her family friends as the epitome of gentle soul.
