Obituary: Sistos R. Reyes 28, 1921 - 11, 2015 On the morning of 11, 2015, Sistos (Sis) age 93, was called into the arms of our Lord while in the comfort of his home, in the presence of loved ones, and under the constant care of his devoted and selfless wife Catalina. Sistos was born in Moline, KS, and at age 8, he moved to Coffeyville, Kansas, where he graduated from Field Kindley High School in 1939. He was an avid athlete throughout high school. He lettered in track and football. Sistos was inducted into the United States Army in 1942 and received his basic training at Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX. basic training he was assigned to the 514th Antiaircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Battalion. The Battalion left the United States for Oran, Algiers where it took part in operation Torch. In 1943, his battalion joined the 36th Division (a.k.a. Texas Division) of the 5th Army to fight in the Italian Campaign. The assault began on Salerno then they proceeded up the Italian Peninsula to the engagements at Anzio, Mt Cassino, and into Rome. In 1944, the battalion joined the 7th Army under General Patch in the invasion of Southern France which took them through the Rhineland Campaign. At the wars end, the battalion was in Austria. TEC Corporal Reyes was a rifle marksman and earned the following ribbons: The Good Conduct, The European, African and Middle East Ribbon, five bronze stars and two arrowheads designating operation in two invasions and the World War II Victory Ribbon. He was honorably discharged in 1945. Following the war, he joined his family in Kansas City, Missouri, where he eventually worked for Darby Steel as a welder and X-ray machinist for 31 years. He retired from Darby Corp at the age of 62. He belonged to the Boilermakers Union Local #83. He married Catalina Padilla in 1949 in Armourdale, Kansas at Mount Carmel Catholic Church. were married 65 years and had 8 children. When asked which was more difficult, fighting in WWII or raising 8 children, he said, I don know, both were pretty tough. Affectionately called Papo Sis, he was a wonderful man, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a very special man. He was quiet, humble, stern, proud, and very family oriented. He was a hard worker, loved to house paint, and fix things around the house. He seemed to have a tool for every job. He loved watching TV, especially old westerns, black and white movies, sports, the sci-fi channel and nightly news casts. He also read the newspaper every morning. He loved music and was a great dancer. He enjoyed listening to big band and Mexican ranchero music on his front porch. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Juan Reyes, his brother, Lupe Reyes, and his sisters: Rebecca Reyes, Jessie Arciga, Antonia Gonzalez, and Alvina Aguilera. Sistos is survived by: Wife, Catalina (Catherine) Reyes of Kansas City, Sisters, Juanita Leyva, Virginia Parra, Brother, Jim Reyes, Sr., all of Kansas City, Children: John Reyes (wife Mary Angela) of Kansas City, MO, Laura Reyes Schneider (and spouse Cary) of Plano, TX, Daniel Reyes of KCMO, Michael Reyes of KCMO, Anthony Reyes (wife Alesia) of Independence, MO, Phillip Reyes (wife Tami) of Columbia, IL, Mario Reyes (wife Johanna) of Independence, MO, Alicia Reyes Satre (husband Tim) of Sour Lake, TX, 16 Grand Children, 16 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great Great Grandchild. Sistos will always be deeply missed and never forgotten. Visitation will be held , 15, 2015 from 4-6 p.m., with a rosary service immediately following at McGilley Midtown Chapel, 20 W. Linwood Blvd, KCMO. Mass of Christian Burial will be held , 16, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 1310 Westport Road, KCMO 64111. Burial to follow at Mt. Calvary , KCK. Obituary: In Loving Memory of Judith (Judy) A. Reyes 5, 1944 - 3, 2014 Judy was born on 5, 1944 (69) to the union of Thomas Reyes and Anna Priolo. She was a lifelong resident of Kansas City, Missouri and departed this life on 3, 2014 with family by her side. Judy attended Westport High School; after high school she obtained her Cosmetology license and Medical Assistant Certificate. She later found her niche in life by working as an Administrative Assistant for the WIC Program. She was baptized and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior early in her life; she also attended Sheffield Family Life until she departed this life. To know Judy is to know the definitions of Love, Compassion, Family, Strength, Joy and above all else what Giving is. Judy is preceded in death by both her parents; Thomas Reyes; Anna Priolo; Maria Luisa Reyes (grandmother); Darlene Salazar (sister); Dale Priolo (brother); Jim Priolo (brother) and Harry Mac McDonald Jr. (son-in-law); and many other valued love ones. Obituary: With his children by his side, Faustino Chick Reyes of Kansas City, MO., passed away peacefully 31, 2015 in his home at the age of 91. With a strong faith and belief in worshipping the Lord, our Savior Jesus Christ, Chick demonstrated Gods purpose in his love and compassion for family and friends. He was born 15, 1924 in Courtney, Missouri to Ysidoro and Luisa Reyes. As a child, he was given the nickname Chick. Dad worked at the Fred Harvey restaurant in the historic Union Station before being called to serve in the United States Army. He was a veteran of WWII and stationed in Burma. the war, he started a landscaping business, retiring in his late seventies. Preceded in death is his wife, Frances, whom he was married to for 56 years. He met his wife on a blind date and after a long courtship they were married in Eureka Springs, AR, known as little Switzerland of the Ozarks. Chick and Frances were proud parents to surviving children, David Reyes, Tina Carter, Luisa Reyes, twins, Ruth Vasquez and Rachel Coronado, Lisa Dunnington, Mark Reyes, Joel Reyes, Louie Reyes, Virginia Kahmann and two sons, Danny and Robert, whom preceded him in death. He is survived by sons and Daughters-in-laws, 27 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. His parents and seven brothers and sisters preceded him in death. He is survived by his brother and Sisters, Isaac Reyes, Delores Reyes and Florence Brisbin, along with many nieces and nephews. His hobbies included tending to his garden and Cooking. Services will be 10AM , 6, 2016 at McGilley Midtown Chapel, 20 W. Linwood Blvd., KCMO 64111. Visitation will be 5-7PM , 5, 2015 at McGilley Midtown Chapel. Obituary: Ermelinda Linda Reyes, 79, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on , 23, 2011. She will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt. Linda was born on 28, 1932 in Lyman, Nebraska to Isaac and Josefina (Leon) Rios. She attended John J. Ingles Elementary School and graduated from Central Junior High School in Kansas City, KS. Linda and her husband Jim would later own, manage and operate their residential cleaning business, J-Linn Cleaning. More importantly, she was a dedicated member of Guardian Angels Catholic Church. Her greatest joys in life were her family and traveling to Texas and throughout cities in Mexico. Her kind heart and love was expressed by contributing to others, including her family members in Mexico for their education and well-being. She will be remembered as a wonderful cook, especially for the warm tortillas she hand made. Linda and Jim also continued the family tradition, handed down by in-laws Juan and Juana Reyes, of making tamales and gathering the family for Christmas Eve celebrations. Linda is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Alexander Rios and Daniel Rios, and great grandson Isaac Luke Reyes. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Jim Serapio Reyes of the home, her four children: Josephine Reyes of Kansas City, MO., Jim Reyes Jr. and his wife Linda of Kansas City, MO., Michelle Ibarra and her husband Jesse Jr. of Kansas City, KS, and Damian Reyes, Sr. of Kansas City, MO. Left behind to cherish her memory are her 14 grandchildren: Damian Jr. and wife Amelia, Mark, Andrew, James and wife Jennifer, Jesse III, Nicholas, Luke and wife Erin, David, Simon Sr., Stephen, Alyssa, Jacob, Thomas and Jessica. She will also be sadly missed by her eight great grandchildren: Alexander, Ava, Ethan, Adrian, Evelyn, Simon Jr., Cameron and Elora; and two sisters, Aurora Garcia and Elvira Briones.
