Obituary: FRANCIS FRANK K. ROMAN Mason, Michigan Passed away 1, 2011 at Stoneleigh Residence at the age of 85. Frank was born 3, 1925 in Lansing the son of Paul and Mary (Fesser) Roman. He is survived by his loving wife Marion, daughter Denise; 4 sisters: Cecelia Rapelje, Patricia (Louis) Fillwock, Martha (Dan) Hancock, Helen Vasilenko and numerous nieces and nephews. Frank served our country in the Army in the Philippines during WW II and retired from GM after 18 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Paul, Jr., and sister, Marjorie. A Mass will take place on , 5, 2011 at St. James Catholic Church, 1010 S. Lansing, Mason, beginning at 11:00 A.M. with Father Kusitino Cobona officiating. The family will receive visitors at the church 1 hour prior to the service. Obituary: Raymond Joseph Romain, age 93, died , May 4, 2015 in Sterling Heights, Michigan. He was born 21, 1922 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Raymond Romain and the late Cornelia (nee: Weitzel) Romain. With thanks & praise from a grateful nation, we pay homage to Raymond for his service to our country during World War II. As a sailor in our great United States Navy, he attained the rank of Machinist Mate 3rd Class and served aboard ship in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of operations. A decorated and proud veteran, Raymond served with distinction and pride, and stood in harms way for the furtherance of the freedoms we enjoy today,...because he was there. For his bravery and valiance, we extend our posthumous gratitude to a gentleman of our Greatest Generation. When it came to employment, Raymond possessed a plethora of engineering and technical talents that were highly sought, and ultimately put to work at such places as Chrysler, Morleys Candies, Pfeiffer Brewery, the Hall Gauge , and the Arc Gauge . But if you were to ask Raymond where his passions truly lie, it was in the heart of an inventor. With an entrepreneurial spirit and an intellect that gave his mind little rest, Raymond was always thinking about new and innovative designs,...especially where it involved his dreams of electric cars and harnessing perpetual motion. And not merely at work or at his planning desk, he was also known for being quite the Mr. Fix It as well. He was the master of his tools and willing to tackle any project that came along. When work wasn on the agenda, Raymond loved to travel and enjoyed some of Americas warmer destinations such as Florida, Arizona, and the tropical delights of Hawaii. As for keeping it more local, he never got tired of the beauty that Michigans up north experiences provided. The trips up north also availed Raymond the pleasure of his love of the outdoors, specifically his passions for hunting and fishing. And he never forgot his youthful passion of ice skating, another reason to enjoy Michigans outdoors. Another of his favorite pastimes included golfing, and that dream of a hole-in-one. A sunny day on the links was pretty close to nirvana, especially shared with a golf buddy. Raymond was also fond of bowling and enjoyed the days of a little lane competition amongst his fellow league companions. Then there were the indoor pastimes he enjoyed of solving puzzles, joining in on a rousing game of Euchre, or the simple and solemn artistry of penning poetry. A man that embodied the spirit of an inventor AND a poet,...doesn that define Leonardo DaVinci? Id say that Raymond was quite special,...and in good company! Along with a strong mind, Raymond also clung to his strong faith,...a man after Gods own heart. He was a man who loved life,...and his faith was its guiding force. It was also the foundation on which he built his family, the loved ones he always watched out for...always took care of...the ones who always looked to him as the Family Hero. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Raymond always tried his best to give the best of himself always,...and his family will attest to the fact that he truly succeeded. And not just with them, yet he touched many hearts and lives throughout his journey in life and leaves memories for all to reflect upon who were blessed to know him. His love carries on, and he will be missed immensely. Go rest high, dear brother. Raymond was the beloved husband of Monica (nee: Huber) Romain, and the late Margaret (nee: Kirsch) Romain. Dear father of Sue (Fred) Stephens, Dianne (Tom) OBrien, James (Sandra) Romain, Robin (Paul) Budzynowski, Debbie (Kim) Gallop, and Michael (Sheryl) Romain. Step-father of Trish, Terry (Angie), Geri (Tom), Tom (Dee), and Jon (Tina). Brother of Doris Chandler, Ruth Trombley, Phyllis Feldman, the late Grace Urbani, and the late Robert Romain. He is also survived by many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation for Raymond will be held , May 8th from 3-9pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons , 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Road) in Warren. He will lie in state , 9:30 am at St. Veronica Catholic Church in Eastpointe until the time of his Mass at 10:00 am.
