Obituary: Marilyn (Warner) Rogers, 69, 0f Littleton, died at Emerson Hospital in Concord on 15, 2016. She was born in Waltham, MA on 15,1946 daughter of the late John and Helen (Tomlinson) Warner. She grew up in Waltham and was a graduate of Waltham High School. She worked as receptionist for many Dr.’s offices. She was a member of the Littleton Congregational Church and was a loving selfless person who adored her grandchildren and her husband David. Obituary: Marilyn E. Rogers, 92, passed away quietly with family at her side. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Harold ?Hank? Rogers to whom she was married for 65 years. She was born and raised in Whitman to Marion and Everett Meserve and attended the Whitman public schools. She met Hank as they traveled to Boston each day on the train to attend college, Marilyn at Simmons and Hank at BU. She later earned a master?s degree in education from Bridgewater State and taught English and Social Studies for a number of years in the Plymouth School system. She then went back to Simmons to earn a master?s degree in library science and became a librarian in the Scituate School system. She and Hank raised their family in Plymouth, where they lived happily for over 60 years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed summers at the Eel River Beach Club playing tennis and swimming. In her retirement years she volunteered at the Plymouth Public Library and traveled to Florida each winter for sun and golf. Marilyn loved to travel the world during the summers. She would sail on the QEII to Europe where she travelled extensively. She also explored Central America, the Caribbean, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific. She is predeceased by her son Steven Emerson Rogers and sister Noria Milner. Obituary: M. Jacqueline Rogers (McAuliffe), of Plymouth, passed away on 18th at home at the age of 81. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Rogers, she is survived by her loving children Jacqueline Wood of Braintree, Janice Morse of Falmouth, Joseph Rogers of Brockton, Jeffrey Rogers of Taunton, Joyce Poremski of Plymouth and James Rogers of Abington. She also leaves her sisters Marie McGann of Mansfield, Claire Leary of Dorchester and Ann Shea of N. Quincy, 32 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mother of the late John C. Rogers and sister of the late William McAuliffe. Mrs. Rogers has lived in Plymouth since 1998 after living in Braintree for 48 years. She worked as an accountant for New England Telephone and was a founding member and past president of the Braintree Women?s Club. She was also a member and past president of Sodality at St. Thomas Moore in Braintree and gave cooking classes at her home in Braintree. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and the Boston Red Sox. A funeral mass will be held on 22nd at 10AM at Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha in Plymouth followed by burial at Blue Hills in Braintree. Visiting hours will be held at the church on 21st from 4 to 8 PM with a vigil service at 7 PM. Obituary: Leonard A. Rogers, of Gloucester, passed away peacefully on 3, 2014, at Dimensions, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers, MA. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth H. (Smith) Rogers, who died on 17, 1997. Leonard was a resident of Palm Bay, FL. He was born in Provincetown on 1, 1917 to the late Anthony and Fannie (Raymond) Rogers. Leonard graduated from Falmouth High School in Falmouth, MA, Class of 1934. He was a well-known scholastic athlete in the Cape Cod area. He played on the Basketball, Football and the Baseball teams, receiving multiple letters in all three sports. Leonard was chosen to play on the All-Cape Cod 1933 Football Team. He was also Captain of the Baseball team. He was inducted into the Falmouth High School Athletic Hall of Fame on May25, 2002. He was very proud of this award. His family attended the ceremony to share this honor with him. In 1934, his family moved to Gloucester where Leonard met Elizabeth H. Smith, whom he married on 3, 1937. Leonard enlisted in the U.S.C.G. at Madaket, Nantucket on 25, 1936. During World War II, he served on various convoy and antisubmarine vessels in the North and South Atlantic and the Dutch West Indies. He retired from the Coast Guard in 1956 with the rank of C.P.O. He graduated from Saunders Electronics School and was employed by Booth & McCarthy Electronic Co., now known as Varian. Leonard was a member of St. Peters Church from 1962 until it closed in 2005. Since that time, he has been a member of Holy Family Parish, St. Ann Church. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Parish in Palm Bay, Florida. He was a member of the Rockport Legion Post #98, the Gloucester Chapter of Elks Lodge #892, Fleet Reserve Association Branch #366, and a Lifetime Member of the D.A.V. Florida Chapter #32. He is survived by his three daughters, Patricia E., wife of Anthony J. Bertolino; Maureen E., wife of Stephen J. Murray; and Kathleen M. Remeika, wife of the late John A. Remeika, with whom Leonard had resided summers since 1997, and who was his principal caregiver since his onset of illness in 2012. He is survived by six grandchildren: Ina Missie, wife of Rowland Chip Bankes, Jr. of Boxford; Elizabeth H., wife of Patrick t Aylmer of Topsfield; Stephen M., husband of Elizabeth Murray, of Beverly, Kathleen M, wife of Michael Smith of Beverly, Kimberly E. Frontiero of Gloucester, and Kelly M., wife of Glenn M. Stanton of Gloucester, two step-grandchildren, Michael Remeika, spouse of Daniel Middleton-Remeika of Mariette, GA; Linda A., wife of Erik Strong of Gloucester; nine great grandchildren: Peter C. and Jennifer P. Bankes of Boxford, John A. and. Patrick. T. Aylmer, Jr. of Topsfield; Allison K. and Cameron J. Murray of Beverly, Olivia F. and Danielle E. Smith of. Beverly, and Paige E. and Ashley M. Stanton of Gloucester; and three step-great grandchildren, Joshua M. Gove, Brandon and Cassandra Strong of Gloucester. He was also very proud of being called Grampa or Great Grampa. He-had a license plate on the front of his car that read, Ask me about my Great Grandchildren with whom he had a warm and most loving relation. Leonard is also survived by two sisters: Barbara Clark of Framingham, MA; and Dorothy, wife of Philip Dyer of So. Harpswell, ME; and a sister- in-law, Patricia Rogers of Framingham, MA; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. Leonard was predeceased by a brother, Robert Rogers, brothers-in-law, Louis Douglas, Jr., Henry Clark and Perce Story and sisters-in-law, Beatrice Douglas and Madeline Story; and a close friend, Bernice Knight. At Mr. Rogers request there are no visiting hours. Obituary: Kathleen Ann Rogers, age 62, of Lynn, died afternoon in the Kaplan Family Hospice House following a lengthy illness. Born in Lynn, Kathleen was the daughter of Catherine J. (Ross) Rogers and the late Francis J. Rogers. She attended Lynn Schools and was also a graduate of Marian Court in Swampscott. She was a communicant and volunteer at St. Pius V Church and enjoyed gardening and reading. In addition to her mother, Kathleen leaves her brother, John Rogers and his wife Anita of Bedford, NH and her nieces Jenna and Alexa Rogers. Family & Friends are kindly invited to visit with the family on from 9:30AM-11:30AM in the Cuffe-McGinn 157 Maple St. LYNN to be followed by a Mass in St. Pius V Church at 12:00PM. Interment St. Josephs . Gifts in her memory may be sent to Hospice of the North Shore 75 Sylvan St. Suite B-102 Danvers, MA 01923. |
