She was born in West Louisville, Kentucky on 8, 1919 and is survived by her husband of 71 years, Francis Guerdon F.G. Riney, Jr, whom she married 28, 1939. Mrs. Riney was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Flaget Asher, who raised her, and by her parents, Arthur and Olivia Asher Cecil. She was also preceded in death by her step-mother, Irene Hite Cecil and half-brother, Martin Cecil.

She is also survived by daughters, Ann (Charles) Roby, Linda (Dave) ONan, Martha (Jim) Kamuf, Becky (Jerry dec.) Reisz, Sister Judith Nell Riney, Cathy McClish, Winnie (Gene dec.) Cohron, Carol Riney, Kay Beth Riney, Pam (Joe) Higdon, and Laurie (Greg) Payne; sons, Frank (Moggie) Riney, Doug (Leslie) Riney and Keith (Cathy dec.) Obituary: William Hugh Riney, 81, of Owensboro passed away , 5, 2010. Born 1, 1928 in Owensboro, Mr. Riney was the son of the late Guerdon and Mable Kelly Riney; was retired from G.E./MPD where he worked from 1952 to 1993; was a husband and father dedicated to caring for his family; and a member of St Stephen Cathedral. Mr. Riney was devoted to his catholic faith and especially St Vincent De Paul and the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts. Mr. Riney was also an avid St Louis Cardinals and UK sports fan. He was preceded in death by his loving wife for whom he lovingly cared for the last years of her life, Mary Helen Hartz Riney; a son, Bill Riney; a granddaughter, Brooke Riney; and sisters, Maxine Cecil and Edith Riney.

Obituary: Thomas Marnell Riney, 91, of Owensboro, went home to his heavenly Father on , 10, 2014. He was born 27th, 1922 in Daviess to the late William G. and Mary Merimee Riney. Thomas graduated from West Louisville High School in 1941. He served in the Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946. In 1947 he married his loving wife and started a family. Tom was of the Catholic faith and was a founding member of Our Lady of Lourdes. He retired in 1990 from General Electric and MPD after 36 years. The only thing he enjoyed more than UK basketball was spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother; Gerald Riney, and a sister; Patricia Riney

Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years Mary Edna Riney, daughters; Ann Petrie (Gerald) of Indianapolis and Cynthia Rumage (Michael) of Erlanger, KY; son, Father Maury Riney of Owensboro; grandsons Daniel Petrie and Christopher Rumage; granddaughters Jennifer Petrie and Stacey Woityra; two great grandchildren; brother Joseph C. Riney and sister Mary Catherine Pfister.

The funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. , 14th, 2014 at the Carmel with Father Maury Riney officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. at Glenn and Crematory, and after 9 a.m. at the Carmel . Prayers will be said at 6:30 p.m. . Burial will follow the service at St. Alphonsus

Born on 03, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Joseph R. and Edna Tong Thomas. She was a 1942 graduate of Mount St. Joseph Academy and a graduate of Owensboro Business .
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Eugene Aloysius Riney; sisters, Margaret Helen Thomas Smith and Angela Thomas Thompson; brothers, Bernard Marnel Thomas and Joseph Robert Thomas.
She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who valued family, and loved nothing more than a big family gathering. China painting was a hobby that she enjoyed, giving friends and family many of her wonderful creations, often adorned with forget-me-nots. She was a former member of Owensboro China Guild. Playing cards with friends brought hours of fun and laughter into her life. She was devoted to her faith and a member of Immaculate parish. Prior to her residence at Carmel , she served in the Perpetual Adoration ministry there.
Survivors include her husband of 70 years Joseph C. Joe Riney; children: Mary Jo Kirby (Don) of Louisville, Ed Riney (Mary) of Owensboro, Rev. Obituary: Robert C. Riney, Jr., 85 of Owensboro, passed away on , 13, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family and friends. He was born on 17, 1929 in West Louisville, KY to the late Robert Clifford Riney and Frances Harriet (Hattie) Clark Riney. He was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church in Rome, KY. Mr. Riney was retired from the Daviess Co. Court System, and also had worked at Pinkerton Tobacco Co. and had engaged in farming. Gardening was a favorite past time, and he especially took pride in his ability to grow the biggest watermelons in Daviess . He was an avid fan and follower of Johnny Cash. He served his country in the U. S. Army while stationed in Anchorage, Alaska during the Korean War. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and previous member of the American Legion. He loved being with his family and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his previous wife, Mary Joyce (Hayden) Riney, also by his brother, James Henry Riney, brothers-in-law, Laverne Warren, Christopher Murphy, Doug Clark, and Jim White, sisters, Rosita Warren, Louise Clark, Imogene Murphy, and a sister-in-law, Pat Riney. Finally, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Robert A. Bickett.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Martha Drochter Goff Riney, his daughters, Diane Bickett and her fiancé Gregory Beard of Owensboro, Brenda K. Holinde and her husband Shane Holinde of Bowling Green, and Brenda McCarty and her husband Mike McCarty of Beech Grove, grandchildren, Brad Bickett and his wife Jessie of Henderson, Dana Bickett of Nashville, TN, Ben McCarty of Beech Grove, and Nora Holinde of Bowling Green, his sisters, Victoria (Toie) White, Marilyn (Jim) Kurz, Bernice (Herb) Bertke, a sister-in-law, Doris Riney, and a brother, Thomas B. Riney.

Services will be 11:00 A.M. , 16 at St. Martin Catholic Church with burial following in St. Raphael with military honors. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. with prayers at 5:00 P.M. and after 9:00 A.M. at Glenn and Crematory.

Obituary: Rev. Philip Riney, 90, of Owensboro passed away 10, 2014 at Owensboro Regional Hospital. Born in Owensboro, a son of the late Len and Ermine Mulligan Riney, he attended St. Joseph Grade School and St. Francis High School. He entered seminary at St. Marys in Kentucky from which he graduated, and was ordained a priest at St. Stephen Cathedral on 5, 1948 by the late Bishop Francis R. Cotton. Father Riney was then 23 years old, the youngest priest to be ordained in the Diocese of Owensboro. His first assignment was at St. Ann Catholic Church in Morganfield, followed by Sts. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church in Owensboro, Rosary Chapel in Paducah, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Hawesville, St. Frances de Sales Catholic Church in Paducah, St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church in Whitesville, Holy Name Catholic Church in Henderson, and Blessed Mother Catholic Church in Owensboro, from which he retired in 1998 following fifty years of devoted priesthood. Following his retirement, he continued to serve the diocese as a willing substitute. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Joseph Leon Riney, Richard Riney, Sr., Sr. Mary Leon Riney, OSU, Sr. Ann Clare Riney, SCN, James E. Riney, and Trudy Mudd.

Often affectionately referred to as the Master Builder, Fr. Phil organized the construction of new churches at both St. Mary of the Woods and Blessed Mother.

A lover of nature and the outdoors, he lived for many years following his retirement at his home on Rough River, with the exception of and , which he spent in Sarasota, FL

Father Phil was devoted to his family, with whom he loved sharing his stories and his faith, that faith shining thru in all his works. He will always be remembered for his giving nature, always sharing his home with family and friends. He loved people and all loved him. The people of the churches he served became his extended family and he treated them all as a father would treat his children.

He is survived by his sisters, Mary Lou Mudd and her husband Joe, of Owensboro, Patricia Cheshire of Memphis, Virginia Riney Dorsten and her husband Charles of Dayton; his sister-in-law Peggy Riney of Louisville; his brother David Riney of California, and many nieces and nephews.

The Mass for Father Riney will be at 2:00 p.m. at Blessed Mother Catholic Church, where visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. . Burial will be in Resurrection . Obituary: Rebecca Ruth Becky Riney, 67, of Owensboro, passed away on , 25, 2008 at Owensboro Medical System. She was born in Daviess Co., Ky. to the late Tom and Mable Hall Morton. She was a very devout Catholic and member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and was retired from the office of the Owensboro Catholic School System. She was a very loving wife, mother, and grandmother and enjoyed spending a lot of time with all her family. She also enjoyed sewing and all types of needlework. She formerly was on the boards of the Catholic School System and at St. Alphonsus Church.

Surviving is her husband of 46 years, David Riney, a daughter, Holly Conkright and husband Corey of Owensboro, four sons, David Riney, Jr. and wife Donna, Todd Riney, Kevin Riney and wife Susan, and Mark Riney and wife Liane, all of Owensboro, 13 grandchildren, Evan, Erin, Hannah, Olivia, Murphy, London, Cole, Anna, Blair, Kathryn, and Emma Riney, and Camille and Caden Conkright, two sisters, Nancy Logsdon and Patsy OBryan, both of Owensboro, five brothers, Billy and Phillip Morton, both of Owensboro, Tommy Morton of Hartford, Mike Morton of Madisonville, and David Morton of Clarksville, Tn., and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be 12:00 Noon , 27, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church with burial following in St. Alphonsus . Visitation will be from 1:00-7:00 P.M. and after 9:00 A.M. at Glenn . Prayers will be 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

She enjoyed flower gardening, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Gerald Riney, and a son-in-law, Joe Noble.

Survivors include her son, Patrick Betts of Owensboro, her daughters, Terrie Merimee of Owensboro, and Donna Noble of Norfolk, VA; three step-children, three grandchildren, Todd Payne of Virginia Beach, VA, Neil Payne and Charity Pogue, both of Owensboro; and ten great-grandchildren; her brothers, Joe (Sue) Riney, and Marnell (Mary Edna) Riney, both of Owensboro, her sister, Mary Catherine (Paul) Pfister of Louisville; a life-long friend, Greacia Alvey of Beech Grove.

Obituary: Joseph C. Riney (Joe), 91, of Owensboro, passed away on 08, 2015 at Carmel .
Born on 05, 1924, he was the son of the late William Gerald and Mary Merimee Riney. He was a 1942 graduate of Vine Grove High School.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Sue Thomas Riney; an infant son, Eugene Aloysius Riney; brothers, Gerald Riney and Marnell Riney and one sister, Patricia Riney Betts
He was a dedicated husband and father who valued faith, family, country and community. He retired in 1990, after 43 years as Farm Manager of Mount Saint Joseph farms. As a veteran of WWII, he was Sgt. Major in the 12th Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division of the US Army. He served in both the Philippine Islands and in Japan. At age 80, he fulfilled a life-long dream of returning to Japan for a visit. He was very community and civic-minded, serving many years on the Daviess Democratic Executive Committee, advancing to Chairman. As a longtime member of the West Daviess Water Board, he was instrumental in the planning and implementation of our current water system in Daviess . He was also an active member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society, Lions Club and Knights of Columbus. Joe and his wife, Sue, provided many hours of skating and square-dancing for children and adults in the community as owners and operators of West Louisville Skating Rink from 1949 until 1962. Mr. Riney was devoted to his faith and a member of The Immaculate parish.
Survivors include children: Mary Jo Kirby (Don) of Louisville, Ed Riney (Mary) of Owensboro, Rev. Jerry Riney of Owensboro, Janet Murphy (Jim) of Owensboro, Bob Riney (Nancy) of Dallas, TX., Jane Gaffey (Tom) of Denver, CO., Maria Thompson (Chip) of Owensboro, and Ann Carver (Reg) of Atlanta, GA.; grandchildren: Donald Kirby, II (Martha), David Kirby (Tricia), Tom Riney (Karen), Dr. Chris Riney, Jennifer Murphy Byrne (Sean), Julie Murphy Ferguson, Jamie Murphy (Nicole), Jerrod Murphy (Tricia), Jacob Murphy, Allison Riney, Natalie Gaffey Steadman (Mick), Lauren Gaffey Moore (Sean), Melissa Gaffey, Emily Thompson Best (Kyle), Luke Thompson (Emily), Alex Thompson, Caroline Carver, Chloe Carver; 26 great-grandchildren and one sister, Mary Catherine Riney Pfister.

A son of the late James L. and Mary Kathryn Wimsatt Riney, Mr. Riney was a purchasing agent for Moonlite and Old Hickory; was a funeral service associate for Glenn and Crematory; and was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. He was an Army veteran. Mr. Riney was a member of the Serra Club, the Knights of Columbus; and was a Mount St. Joseph Associate. Gary never met a stranger and always had a story to tell. He was a kind, gentle man who will be missed by family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Lynn Riney.

A country girl who lived in the city, Mrs. Riney enjoyed gardening, history, collecting antiques, and was very fond of trips back to the family farm in Reed. Services are 11 a.m. , 10, 2012 at St. Martin Catholic Church with Father Jerry Riney and Father Maury Riney officiating followed by entombment in Resurrection . Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and after 9 a.m. at Glenn and Crematory where prayers will be said at 7 p.m. evening.
