Obituary: Norma Lavern Routhier passed away peacefully on the morning of 27th, 2017. Norma was born in Columbia City, Indiana on 31st 1929 to Estella and Harry Slater. She grew up around Coesse and Fort Wayne, Indiana. Upon graduating from Coesse High School she worked for many years at Lincoln Life Insurance . Soon after WWII she met Ron Routhier and they were married on 4th 1948 at the Dunfee Christian Church in Columbia City. Ron and Norma were happily married and best friends for 62 years. Norma and Ron lived in Fort Wayne until 1986 when they moved to Brooksville Florida after Normas retirement from J.C. Penny. While in Fort Wayne they were members of the First Missionary Church. resided in Florida enjoying the warm climate and making frequent trips back to Indiana until Rons death in 2010. Norma loved traveling across the United States with Ron. were able to travel to Alaska, Hawaii and many other places. Norma and Ron were very active in the 499th Airforce Bomber Group and were able to travel to the groups annual reunions throughout the US including the opening of the WWII memorial in Washington D.C. Norma had a quick wit and a great sense of humor. She loved animals, flowers, Elvis, traveling, shopping and most of all, her family. Norma was a wonderful loving mother, grandmother and wife and will be greatly missed. We are comforted to know she is peacefully residing with dad in heaven. She is preceded in death by her parents, harry and Estella Slater, her husband Ron Routhier, sister, Sharon, and brother, Rev. Richard. She is survived by her brother, Eddie (Joan) Slater, daughter, Rita Hanke, son, Jim (Stephanie) Routhier, grandchildren, Lindsay Mangas and Bradley Routhier, great-grandchildren, Addison, Alivia, Nathanael, and Alena. Visitation will take place at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park 1320 E. Dupont Road Fort Wayne, IN 46825 on , 30, 2017 from 2-4pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friends of the National World War II Memorial 921 Pennsylvania Ave. SE Suite 316 Washington, DC 20003. Norma will be laid to rest in Lindenwood next to her husband Ron. |
